That cover was not that good and great guitarists can learn a song by ear the first time they lisin to it.

Come to think about it there aren't many good Beatles covers (except: "A Little Help from my Freinds" by Joe Cocker)
Maybe so, but none of them will have the balls to go on stage right after soon after with their band and play it.

BillCosby 04-17-2005 01:23 PM

what

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 04-17-2005 01:23 PM

When I saw Yes the last song they did was "Every Little Thing," it was cool
Some people just can seem to get over how gay Queen is, which is kinda funny if you listen to something like "Good Old Fahioned Lover Boy"

I think that they would still be together if Freddie hadn't died
That is a ridiculously flamboyant song:lol:

And yeah, Queen would probably still me around today if Freddy didn't get AIDS. That guy was the best showman ever, no arguement  .

SRV did a fun Taxman cover. I can't think of any other Beatles covers off the top of my head. (Strange, isn't it? You'd think that there would be loads upon loads...)

The best Beatles cover has to be "A Little Help from my Freinds" by Joe Cocker.

Jim Morrison was easily the best front man and the 1st.

BludgeonySteve 04-17-2005 02:28 PM
Jim Morrison was easily the best front man and the 1st.
I'll agree with that. Jim Morrison> Freddie

PinkFreud 04-17-2005 02:32 PM

uh roger daltrey anyone? come on, all jim did was stand there.

Against Miik! 04-17-2005 02:32 PM

Or Freddie>Anyone

Nothing against Jim Morrison, but Freddie Mercury is the definition of a frontman.

BludgeonySteve 04-17-2005 02:33 PM
uh roger daltrey anyone? come on, all jim did was stand there.
Hellos? Drugged up and pretending to be a windmill pwns.

Distant Echoes 04-17-2005 02:45 PM

Jim Morrison>Freddie Mercury>Daltrey

Mercury could get any crowd into the music, but Jim represents his band better then anyone

Badmoon 04-17-2005 02:46 PM
uh roger daltrey anyone? come on, all jim did was stand there.
Pete Townshend always seemed to be the frontman of The Who, to me.

Walrus Gumboot 04-17-2005 02:48 PM

Queen is more of a frontamn sort of band being arena rock and all. I don't know if the term frontman accuratly describes Morrison in that sense

What!?!? Noway he made people riot, he apparently pulled his dick out to a sold out audience, he got arrested on stage, he got into a fight with Hendrix.....etc

Read a Morrison bio. He was the crazist singer there ever was.

RobNY 04-17-2005 02:50 PM

Talkin' bout morrison, I heard a Doors song on the radio yesterday and it got me thinking.

Where do I start with the doors? I'm not really familiar with them.

(Getting into classic rock lately has made me feel like a kid in a candy store...)

BludgeonySteve 04-17-2005 02:51 PM

and pretneded to be a windmill, collapsed from too many drugs and had to be rushed to a hospital

The Doors self titled is a GREAT way to start. (not only was it their first but in my opinion their best)

Distant Echoes 04-17-2005 02:52 PM

Well yeah, not in that sense, i really find it hard to explain, but what he does on stage (as a frontman) really represents what his music is. He tries to represent his poetry in more then words. Unless that really depends on what drugs he took earlier...

Who is Queens singer their using for their next tour. Ive heard it come up every once in a while, but never caught his name

EDIT: to Walrus

I would go with ther s/t (The Doors) which many consider to be their best. (It has most of their biggest hits) I would also reccomend Morrison Hotel

Badmoon 04-17-2005 02:53 PM

Best Frontman: Elvis Presley

Bob Marley was a good frontman also.

If that were true it would eliminate the Jim Morrison being the 1st argument

Paul Rodgers from Bad Company
:D

Never thought of Elvis I guess he would be the 1st.

I love Joe Cockers version. I don't mind Aerosmiths version of Come Together. I've got the Sgt Peppers soundtrack album from that movie that came out in the later seventies, with the Bee Gees. It's got some decent covers, but The Beatles version is way better.

Obviously Elvis Presley is the greatest frontman, although he wasn't really so much part of a band. Like you can't say Elton John is a frontman, he's basically the whole act. Same with Elvis.

I'd say (other than Elvis), Jim Morrison is the best frontman ever. That's why the band kept getting introduced as "Jim Morrison and the Doors". You never heard people saying "Roger Daltry and the Who".

lunch998 04-17-2005 03:14 PM

Great frontmen like Daltrey have charisma and attitude without collapsing of drug overdoses, fighting Jimi Hendrix, and getting arrested on stage. All that is just a substitute for playing the music.

But it's obvious which direction I'm biased towards anyway.

And a frontman doesn't have to be bigger than his band. There is no need for an introduction as "Roger Daltrey and The Who", because everyone already knows what The Who is about.

Edit: I know we're all too cool for Led Zeppelin, but Robert Plant = Great frontman.

Try their s/t album, and Strange Days. I prefer Strange Days over the s/t, because it feels more consistent, but they're both good.
