adb 01-11-2011 07:28 PM

even if I said that anthoneezy, I don't like bands because they blast or if the drumming is woaaaah tech

I just hate the skank beat and mid-tempo dm in general

technical music tends to be faster, yes, but not always

it depends on time sigs obv

Nepenthe 01-11-2011 07:30 PM

bc it's not technical enough?

adb 01-11-2011 07:32 PM

no because I like music that has drive to it

it keeps going, unlike midtempo which gets tiresome fast

like Ulcerate, their drums are technical and fast, do I like them? Hell no

they're boring and mid-tempo at their core, their music drags

Angmar 01-11-2011 07:35 PM

You are the most close minded person on earth.

adb 01-11-2011 07:39 PM

you call it close-minded

I call it selective.

If you learned anything in econ steve, you should understand how a normal distribution works. I dont need most music, it does nothing for me

you seriously need a reality check when you argue with me, you seem to never comprehend that there are reasons why we do things and not all of us think the same

Nepenthe 01-11-2011 07:41 PM

would you say that faster = more skilled?

emilyyy 01-11-2011 07:42 PM

midtempo at their core

adb 01-11-2011 07:45 PM
would you say that faster = more skilled?
depends on the complexity

blasting is not that hard just takes practice

jazzy drumming is often more difficult but played at a slower tempo

Nepenthe 01-11-2011 07:48 PM

but a blast beat takes more skill than a skank beat right?

adb 01-11-2011 07:52 PM

I guess, if you can play anything at a faster tempo I would say that qualifies as more skill because skill is often acquired through practicing?

More practicing = more skill?

Angmar 01-11-2011 08:01 PM

idk dude, if anything being overly selective is inefficient because one day you're bound to grow tired of the same kind of music

look who I'm talking to though, real world logic doesn't work with you

Nepenthe 01-11-2011 08:03 PM
I guess, if you can play anything at a faster tempo I would say that qualifies as more skill because skill is often acquired through practicing?

last question, does technical = more skill?

Tyler 01-11-2011 08:03 PM

nocturnus anyone?

adb 01-11-2011 08:05 PM
real world logic doesn't work with you
implying the real world isn't filled to the brim with morons
last question, does technical = more skill?
generally yes

writing in 4/4 is easy for the most part unless you're talking about meshuggah or something which is pretty insane

I do mostly 4/4 but have some 6/4

Angmar 01-11-2011 08:06 PM

Oh shut up, every single internet dweller and their mom thinks they're above the average human being.

Nepenthe 01-11-2011 08:07 PM

cmon adb we're so close just answer my last question

adb 01-11-2011 08:12 PM

I did?
Oh shut up, every single internet dweller and their mom thinks they're above the average human being.
if you graduate college, you're probably above average tbh

Nepenthe 01-11-2011 08:13 PM

so the conclusion i've come to based off of answers given to me by adb is that technical = more skill = faster = better

adb 01-11-2011 08:15 PM

you can play something technical at a slow tempo and be just as talented as someone who plays something easy at a fast tempo

bro

conclusion - it depends

Deth 01-11-2011 08:17 PM

listening to talented players play shitty songs seems to defeat the purpose

Angmar 01-11-2011 08:23 PM

^^^

Juddybear 01-11-2011 08:24 PM

you guys should srsly check out this pussed demo

adb 01-11-2011 08:25 PM
listening to talented players play shitty songs seems to defeat the purpose
a false dichotomy

awesome

Angmar 01-11-2011 08:25 PM

What's the style like?

Juddybear 01-11-2011 08:26 PM
What's the style like?
osdm, nothing new obv but its still p damn good

Deth 01-11-2011 08:27 PM
a false dichotomy

awesome
incredible the amount of statements you misinterpret

you listen to skilled players play bad songs, therefore the talent is useless

I wasn't making a blanket statement about all tech metal (though obviously most is shit)

Angmar 01-11-2011 08:28 PM

cool strawman bro

adb 01-11-2011 08:30 PM
incredible the amount of statements you misinterpret

you implied a false dichotomy

either someone is talented or not talented

either the songs are good or they are bad
you listen to skilled players play bad songs, therefore the talent is useless
lol

Tyler 01-11-2011 08:30 PM

he didnt imply that at all, you did

Deth 01-11-2011 08:30 PM

uhhhh ok nice deflection bro

Angmar 01-11-2011 08:31 PM

talented people can make shitty music what

adb 01-11-2011 08:33 PM

WHAT SUBJECTIVITY WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT
he didnt imply that at all, you did
"talented"

"good"

two words that have polar opposites

"untalented"

"bad"

Deth 01-11-2011 08:34 PM

lol

would love to see adb the lawyer getted ripped to shreds

Angmar 01-11-2011 08:37 PM

Talented people make shitty music all the time, don't you have any bands you like that have bad albums?

Tyler 01-11-2011 08:38 PM
Angmar 01-11-2011 08:38 PM

marketing major

Deth 01-11-2011 08:38 PM

apparently using words with opposites = implying and makes arguments void guys

adb 01-11-2011 08:42 PM

so jason, please tell me what you meant to say please

you guys misinterpret me all the time but I actually explain why

how do you think this argument started in the first place

Juddybear 01-11-2011 08:45 PM

oh my fucking god shut the fuck up

adb 01-11-2011 08:49 PM

oh my fucking god an irrelevant one line justin post
