Buuurrrnnn. |
It's not I can't play Pulling Teeth I've just never thought about learning it.
I'd be impressed if you could play Battery maintaining the speed plus making it sound good not fretting the notes sloppy. When I play it I can keep in time it's just I find I have to concentrate a bit more with my fretwork. Plus I play with fingers so it's alot more energetic.
Same with me, I'm sure I could play the whole of Pulling Teeth if I took the time to learn it, but can't really be bothered. I can play Battery pretty well, and I play with my fingers, it's a really fun rhythm to play. |
 Yep, he just has like 24 hands and just plays them all at once.
Eww, that would be just creepy if someone actually had that many hands. Side note: I bought a new epiphone les paul. :D I betchya if I put a gold cross, gold tuners and alnico pus, it would look just like James' gibson.
When do we get to see Pics of it? |

making new album |
making new album
Any idea when it's going to be released? Or what it'll be like? Hopefully having a great bassist in the band now might help (but lets face it, it can't possibly be worse than St. Anger) |
I learnt the first part of Pulling Teeth. But I don't see the point of learning the second half, which is essentially 'improvise in Amin for 2 minutes...'
And I can play Battery flawless (to my mind) speedwise and using fingers. Its harder for me with a pick. :smash: |
making new album
Do you have any details on there new album. I've been curious to see what its like. I thought that st. anger was good but it was somewhat disapointing compared alot of there other albums. I was also suprised by the lack of solos, considering one of the things there known for are kirks crazy solos |
Is Pulling Teeth that hard for bassists to play? I don't even play bass, and I can pick up any bass and play it no problem, with no memorization. Am I a virtuoso? :p

And yeah, battery seems harder with a pick for me as well. Whereas other songs with just a steady fast rhythm, Fight Fire With Fire, seem far easier with one. |
Meh.
I play most of Cliff's work with fingers, and most of Jason's with a pick. With a few exceptions. Blackened and MFOM both get the finger treatment :p I just played Battery through to prove I could. Damage Inc. is harder. :smash: |
Do you pick with 2 or 3 fingers?
|
Both.
:smash: |
Meh, just played Damage Inc through. Changed my mind. Battery is harder.
:smash: |
Damage Inc. seems easy as long as you can keep up the speed. I need to improve my accuracy when picking fast with 3 fingers for songs like that.
I can play Battery and Maiden triplet-like riffs easily and accurately with 3 fingers, but not just fast 16th notes. |
I just played through Damage Inc with 3 fingers, no problem (for straight rhythms, work on your RMIMRMIMRMI pattern).
I'm just going to quickly play through Damage Inc again with 2, see if I can do it. I can do Battery with 2. EDIT: Yups, 2 will do. I just don't see the point when 3 is easier :p :smash: |
Yups, 2 will do. I just don't see the point when 3 is easier :p
:smash:
That's my thinking, it doesn't seem to bother Steve Harris though. |

ok for everyone! no i dont know the exact details. if you ask me it will be released at earliest next spring. Rob will help the sound and i am very optimistic |
I'm from Ontraio Canada, yourself?
I'm from Australia :D Just wondering, you said I could ask you guitar questions, that's cool! Most people in this thread like being asked guitar questions too, so you should feel right at home.
And yeah I gues my trouble with Ktulu is the fact I don't fingerpick.
I do it with a pick, I can do it pretty good too... Well good for me is probably sloppy for you, but meh :p
Chu it's good to have a teacher but with the internet you can reach out and teach you're self a good bit. Now that's not something you're always gonna wanna do but it's a start
The real problem is, I think I could be teaching myself some bad technique, where a teacher could otherwise sit with me and explain what I'm doing, how I can improve etc. You know? So my guitar problems come again. My picking has basically got from being horrible, to not so bad, to brutal again.. When I pick the pectrum slips out of my fingers (Eventually), and starts to slice my finger on the strings, I wouldn't usually care as I have nerve damage to my fingers and can't feel a lot, but when there's blood dripping on my guitar... |
Well in that case I would start asking slapping P to help you with some
technique...from what I hear he's pretty good. and if it bleeds you need to chill out man...I'm haveing a muslce problem with my palms so I'm taking a break for a while...you might just brush up on some theory and maybe try to tab a little. If you have sound clips I would like to hear them...just to see if I can help any. and maybe take a picture of what you're with the pick looks like so maybe we can help you out. I'm not the best but I'm willing to try and so are the other guitarist in themighty Metallica Thread. Night buddy |
I'll get a clip, I would love to be able to play guitar PROPERLY, only recently have I been thinking how much I need a teacher, finding out I was picking wrong, and now this, it's enough to make me want to give guitar up (Although, I love it so much :p).
I would also love to be able to tab songs, although.. I really have no idea where to even start :( Edit: Yeah Slapping Penguin is very good at guitar, I don't know if he's still in our band though, we're apparantly not 'metal enough' for him :( |
i think that the best and thrashist album would have to be master of puppets
|
I think Kill em All was '81 but I'm not sure.
^sorry about that i was on the wrong page sorry(sorry:()
|
It's better for you're rep if you don't double post in here man.
Chu please don't give up guitar! it doesn't really matter how good you are it's how much you enjoy and you seem to enjoy it plenty. If he's not in the band anymore that's okay...you can still ask him for help right? Let me know if you need anyhting |
^sorry about that i was on the wrong page sorry(sorry:()
i can forgive ya lol i can tell your new at this(dont worri i am too):thumb: |
The real problem is, I think I could be teaching myself some bad technique, where a teacher could otherwise sit with me and explain what I'm doing, how I can improve etc. You know?
I know exactly what you mean. I also taught myself how to play guitar and I'm sure there's probably something wrong with my technique. So it would be nice having a teacher guiding me and helping me improve. Although, I'm glad to say that a bloody fretboard is not one of my problems. |
Yeah same here, I taught myself and my picking techniques not so great but my guitar teacher told me he had the same problem.
