So one of the family dogs decided to take a piss outside my door and my 360 is giving me "Dirty Disk" errors so much I can't even play two straight matches of MW2 online w/o it kicking me out of the game. I've tried the lense cleaning CD, and compressed air. So I'm pretty sure I'm in that 10% that are just thoroughly FUCKED and their DVD drive is dying.
|
that happened to me with my original xbox back when they were new. after a while it would take like a half hour to get a goddamn game to start going. luckily after it started, it would work fine. eventually i got sick of it though, busted the thing open, and turned up the laser intensity. then it worked like new for a couple months and went back to being a piece of shit. according to the internet, turning the laser intensity up any higher than i had it would start damaging discs, so i just said ****it, sold all the games, and left the xbox up in the closet to collect dust.
my brothers xbox 360 has had that ring of death thing happen three times, luckily it was replaced under warranty all three times. microsoft can't really do anything right, can they. |
I'm all like stealthily tearing my 360 apart. Removed the Microsoft security sticker with a blow dryer so I can put that thing back on. Lets face facts, I bought my 360 launch day. Even though this is a replacement (as my original had the RROD) my warranty is far gone and I ain't paying Microsoft no $100+ to fix my crap when I can get a new one for $300 with a HDD that is 6x bigger, has an HDMI port instead of that B.S. component crap, etc. etc.

In the UK atm you can get awesome deals on Xbox. Like, and elite with extra controller £120 wtf.
Still, I wouldn't buy an Xbox for £10. Damn money pits. |
I have no time for consoles anymore. I've just got my old PS2 that I play retro games like MGS and Need For Speed Underground on.
Saying that though, I can't actually play any of my better PC games at the moment because my middle mouse button wheel thing has a fit every now and then and clicks a hundred times a second, making FO3 virtually impossible. |

sisters bf got awsome deal on an elite xbox before chrsitmas was like 200 sterling with 3 brand new games 3 normal games and a spare controller, i was highly impressed
amazon does rock indeed |
All I know is if I have to buy a new 360 in the coming months then Best Buy (or where ever I get it) is going to have a crap-tacular review from me on it. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I have a launch day PS2 sitting not but 5 feet away from me that still works flawlessly. I never owned an Xbox, but most my friends did. Almost all of us (believe there are 2 left out of around 10) have had to buy a new 360. Where as only 3 had to buy new original Xbox consoles.
Call my spoiled, picky, whatever... but the 360 needs built in wifi, not to charge me for a charge and play kit, and to work at least until the launch day of the Xbox wetf the next console will be called. At least they fixed the whole small ass HDD issue. Though even the stupid rechargeable pack I have to buy doesn't last as long as a PS3 controller. |
everyone always has issues with xbox's mines worked perfectly for years and no issues, have 2 chargable batteries and that stand alone charge unit and its grand really, xbox live does suck a bit paying for it, but its like 5 a month and i much much prefare it to ps3 online, also have the wifi thing for it and it really brings it to life
2 friends off hand have an xbox that have both broken and tonnes of stories f it all i says, also ps3 controllers are way better |
If Microsoft made things more reasonably priced it'd be nice.
Play and Charge kit = $20 Wireless Adapter = $100 (worth more like $50 tops $70) Xbox Live Gold = $50 per year (half to $25 please) One thing PS3 has that no 360 has nor has an adapter been made for it: Blu-Ray. I'm still wondering if the 360 is slowly going to start putting out more and more disk games and people are going to suffice to buy 5-disk games on the 360 that will be 1-disk on the PS3. I figure the customer or the companies producing the games have to get fed up with it. I mean it isn't bad if you have a newer 120Gb HDD 360, but my measly 20Gb HDD is running out of room because of having to install 2nd disk info to play games (ala Forza 3). It is looking to me like Grand Turismo 5 is going to push the 1 disk limit if not go to 2 disks. They should allow a 360 version just to see how many people buy a 5+ disk game. |

I'm not buying a ps3 until theyre super cheap, aint nothing on PS3 thats a must buy for me yet.
|
I've said it before, but a FFVII PS3 remake would have me running out and buying one quicker than you could say any of those "quicker than you could say" phrases.
|
i mainly got the xbox cause im a big halo fanboy and i was in lvoe with 3, so that was me sold, i loed gt on ps2 but forza keeps me happy
f all interest in the ps3 for me... also i got the charger and packs all in deals and sales and trade ins n stuff, the game shops are quite decent here and stuff is usually cheaper somehow and you always get free xbox live memberships with games and stuff, so its not to bad |
If I buy a console it'll be a ps3.
I have a gaming PC, a media center w/bluray, a notebook and a wii. Im covered for now. |
this talk is going on....................

sup guys, any of you guys that went to college for something business-related, did you ever do any business strategy games? my strategic management class is doing something called 'capsim' which is apparently a national thing among business schools right now. have to run a sensor company, make R&D, marketing, production and financing decisions and we compete with other groups in our class for different segments of the industry. sounds boring but its actually pretty fun, we just finished the practice rounds and now we're doing it for real this sunday.
/shitnobodycaresabout sup lod |
yeah, we had to do it only it was a shoe company. we were the second best, but we got destroyed by the group that chose to make low quality dirty cheap shoes that no one would buy in real life
nice. ours is the sensor industry. i'm running a company without any real knowledge of what we sell, this is fun, its just like real life. |
40 years old? wtf car do you have? I thought mine was old....
1972 mustang coupe, so i suppose not quite 40 years. |
I've got a 1964 Triumph Vitesse sitting on my drive at the moment, awaiting parts that may never appear. God I love that car.
|
that would be nice if you fixed it up.
does it run? also how does it look? |
Sup nerd lod. '98 Firebird here, **** is mint I'll never get rid of that car. Only problem I've had with it is a bad fuel injector but that's a common problem with Firebirds and Camaros with that engine. I'd love to get my hands on a '68 Chevelle someday.
