*is only pissed at clash*

Win A Rabbit 08-18-2005 12:42 AM

well i watched sin city again tonight. the first time i saw it, i didn't really pay attention to most of it, and thought it was terrible. i paid attention this time and thought it was fairly good, but i don't think it lives up to the hype of it. you could really tell the spots where tarantino directed

well now i'm working on a song, basing it on a guitar riff i came up with this morning. a bar of 7/8 followed by a bar of 9/8, but rhythm guitar is playing groups of 3, 2, 3, 4, 3, 1. drums and bass come in on the group of 2 and 4. sounds good so far. i'm just waiting for conan to come on, and then i'm off to bed.

Massik Kretal 08-18-2005 12:44 AM

Sounds cool. I already saw Conan so I should be off to bed already but w/e.

Obelisk 08-18-2005 12:46 AM

Whew, quiet night at work here... how's everyone tonight? (or today, depending on where you are).

Massik Kretal 08-18-2005 12:49 AM

Tired. I went to ghostnet and wow. I wanna build and paint drums sooo bad. I'm definatly taking woodshop in HS.

Obelisk 08-18-2005 12:52 AM

I'd like to do the same some day, just don't have the time or space to do it now.

Massik Kretal 08-18-2005 12:54 AM

Where do they learn how to make finishes? Theres not class to take for that.

Win A Rabbit 08-18-2005 12:57 AM

my highschool doesn't have woodshop, but my elementary school did? i didn't even get to take woods in elementary, as it was the most popular. oh well, looks like i wont be sprouting up a custom drum company any time soon.

Massik Kretal 08-18-2005 01:00 AM

Man I wanna make drums so bad. lol, Maybe its a phase......nah.

Obelisk 08-18-2005 01:01 AM

I've thought about making a single ply snare, just carving it out. Something to do whenever I've got a few minutes.

EDIT - not carve it in a few minutes, just a few minutes a day...

Chippy569 08-18-2005 01:05 AM

i saw war of the worlds and now i can't sleep... *sigh*

Obelisk 08-18-2005 01:09 AM

I was so not impressed with that flick.

Sure the fx were cool, but it seemed to be another "formula" flick.

His son should have died.
He should have died.

The little girl who played his daughter did a great job though.

poppinfresh 08-18-2005 01:11 AM

i dont think you would be able o carve a shell that perfectly by hand, but it might be interesting to have a lumpy shell.

Win A Rabbit 08-18-2005 01:11 AM

i was very disapointed by wotw. i didnt really have high hopes going into it, but i thought there might be a chance that it could have been too good. it was way too predictable and way way too hero-esque.

Massik Kretal 08-18-2005 01:13 AM

Yeah Dakota Fanning is a great actress. I agree that they made it a happy ending and made it dumb. Atleast his son shoulda died.

He only directed one scene - the one where Benicio Del Toro and Clive Owen are talking in the car and Jackie Boy has the gun barrel in his forehead.

Massik Kretal 08-18-2005 01:19 AM

Goodnight all. See you tommorow.

Win A Rabbit 08-18-2005 01:25 AM
He only directed one scene - the one where Benicio Del Toro and Clive Owen are talking in the car and Jackie Boy has the gun barrel in his forehead.
you sure? certain parts (i'm talking every time a head or hand gets chopped off) are much different from the rest of the movie, and it's much like tarantino's regular chopping scenes. i guessed it was him who did those scenes. but then again, i really have no idea. :thumb:

Obelisk 08-18-2005 01:25 AM
i dont think you would be able o carve a shell that perfectly by hand, but it might be interesting to have a lumpy shell.
No, it definatly wouldn't be perfect, but might just add that 'lil bit of character.

PowerStamp 08-18-2005 06:36 AM

no, Tarantino only did one scene.
Go look it up on IMDB.

What happened is the guy on Sin City did either the soundtrack or a song for Kill Bill for Tarantino for $1, and Tarantino said in exchange he would direct a scene in Sin City for $1, and he did.

:D

Plan B. 08-18-2005 06:39 AM

I haven't been to bed yet, it's 8:39am and I just played for a bit.

PowerStamp 08-18-2005 06:52 AM

I haven't been to bed yet.
It's 7:52 AM, I just got home from work about 2 hours ago.
Overnights SUCK.

Usually I sleep right when I get home and wake up at 2, but that wears me out by the time I go to work, so today I'm trying staying up until 9 and waking up at 5 (go to work at 9:30)

Ethan. 08-18-2005 06:56 AM

Plan B. where do you live? We are in the same time zones.
Na... this isnt really drum focused, plus it should stay on the front page for quite awhile anyway.
I'd say it's been quite a while.

Win A Rabbit 08-18-2005 01:19 PM

the circus is in my town tonight!!! yay!!! haha i love circuses, they're so fun. cotton candy, yum...

i just thought i'd say this in here, i love my new ride cymbal. 20" a medium ride, it's exactly what i wanted for a cymbal. i'd recommend them to anyone trying out rides. it was cheap too. $180 canadian.

well i'm gonna go shower and then start working on bass parts for a new song. yee haw.

stabbinspaghetti 08-18-2005 01:33 PM

Wisdom teeth?

thatdrummerguy 08-18-2005 02:04 PM

No, those are getting pulled next week I think. These were my last two babys.

Jezen 08-18-2005 02:13 PM

My housemaids sister just died in a car accident. Though I hate my housemaid, I feel quite sorry for her. Shes balling her eyes out. It's sad.

thatdrummerguy 08-18-2005 02:16 PM

Man...that sucks.

I almost died in a car accident in January.

Ethan. 08-18-2005 02:20 PM

I used to be into bmx, not anymore though.

I wish I had a housemaid. I am the housemaid for my house pretty much, or at least in the summer.

Ill Mitch 08-18-2005 02:27 PM

Oooh, Haro bikes are nice. What model? I have an old GT Bmx bike I got a couple of years ago for nice and cheap, but my drumming skills have long since surpassed my BMX skills, so these days I just stick to drumming.

stabbinspaghetti 08-18-2005 03:13 PM
