^^

True, but im going to wait and see. Im just going to go there (in two weeks), and try with my ears, and see which goes better with my hats. I have a basic sound in mind, and hoep I dont come away with something I will regret.

Kuplgalvis 07-02-2006 08:15 AM

what do you say about sabian vault artisan ride??? Is it worth that money...I want very clear and bright sound!!!

HeLLmO 07-02-2006 08:33 AM

vault artisan rides are very jazzy rides. if you want bright, u might be better of with the regular Vault ride or a A Custom ride

Static 07-02-2006 11:58 AM
umm....damn.....uhh......well......get the vaults and the quick beats.....then give me the quick beats.

seriously though, play all 3 and buy which ever you like, because they are all great hats
I've played all of them minus the Quickies, but I'll try those the next time I go to guitar center. What type of sound do they have?

HeLLmO 07-02-2006 12:40 PM

well, i'm not sure exactly how to describe it, but somethin' is up on the bottom hat, i can't recall if it is drilled, or if the edges are wavy, but you get a very fast sound with a very good chick. they're very versitile, and just sound great

Drum Phil 07-02-2006 02:12 PM

I thought it used an A/A Custom fast crash as the top hat.

Bottoms driiled. AAXcellerator style
I thought it used an A/A Custom fast crash as the top hat.

i've heard something like that too. i think it's an A fast crash considering the quick beats are in the A line. either way i love 'em

Static 07-02-2006 09:20 PM

Are they bright? Like no wash and a nice clean and tight closed stick sound?

HeLLmO 07-02-2006 09:23 PM
Are they bright? Like no wash and a nice clean and tight closed stick sound?
yep, not much wash, very clean, good open sound, they are just great hats

Hey I'm looking for pro-level Hi-Hats and a pro-level Crash. I don't have any decent quality cymbals as it is, so right now I don't have to match them with any existing cymbals. But I'm trying to find cymbals which fit most styles, but they can tilt towards rock. I also much prefer cymbals with tone. My budget is something like $300 AU for the hats and $300 AU for the crash, but I could (but obviously dont want to) stretch the budget on the hats to $500. I'm thinking of getting HHX Evolution 14" Hats and a Meinl Byzance 16" Crash, which I think are out of the budget, which means I should start looking for bargains here and there. Do you think these would suit what I'm looking for, or would you suggest something else? Thanks in advance.

Static 07-07-2006 02:32 PM

Yes.

chewaz 07-07-2006 05:04 PM

what do you think of the 2002 medium hats?

HeLLmO 07-08-2006 06:15 AM

i think they are sexy, but not as sexy as 2oo2 soundedges

enishi 07-09-2006 06:14 AM

hey peeps, im about to buy my 3rd crash, and im thinking of getting an 18" A custom crash to blend wit my K custom.
i currently have 16" A medium crash and 18" K custom dark crash.

im stuck between these 2.
17" or 18" A custom crash.

HeLLmO 07-09-2006 07:15 AM

maybe an 18'' K Dark Crash(or a 18 Meinl Byzance regular finish Dark Crash, because it will be cheaper on massmusic)

HeLLmO 07-09-2006 07:24 PM
what country are you in? it must suck if you can't find many meinls
btw,im selling my gretsch catalina birch snare(almost new w/ remo snareside amb). and im wondering how much i would sell it.

Mitch2oo6 07-10-2006 03:20 AM

On the topic of meinls, ship one from AUS, it shouldnt be too expensive.
Ive got one. Its ok, not to bad I guess..

enishi 07-10-2006 04:21 AM

cheap but, when it enters to our country, customs and tax are waiting..lol i mean BIG taxes.

HeLLmO 07-10-2006 06:43 AM

well, that blows ***, look at K's, K Customs, HH and HHX then. as for the snare, you can pick up between 150-215 US, don't know what the currency in the phillipines is though

enishi 07-12-2006 06:03 AM

our currency.
1 USD = 52 PHP
1 PHP = 1pc of candy
HH(X),Ks are too expensive for my budget right now.
lol.i might get an 18" A custom. love the sound.
thanks.

Mitch2oo6 07-12-2006 06:12 AM

The phillipines is great, you spend five dollars and get a nice piece of furniture. But of course, because of the wood you cant ship it back :-\

Anyone have any opinions on these K hybrid cymbals? They're pretty expensive, and their Zildjian K, so I excpect them to be hella good but does anyone own them or has anyone heard them in person?

Inpropagation 07-13-2006 10:21 PM

if you had no spending limit, what hi hats would you get?

billy_spleen 07-14-2006 04:08 AM

Ride Cymbal

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for a new ride. I want one that will be crashable and will go well with my 16" K Medium Thin Dark Crash. Price will not really be a problem, as I won't be buying right-away, so i can save up.

Thanks :)

Are the paiste dark energy 14" mk1 hats good?

HeLLmO 07-14-2006 08:52 AM

haven't gotten to try them yet, but i haven't heard anything bad about them

Leprechauns1021 07-14-2006 06:23 PM

What are the best High Hats for rock style drumming? I was debating between Zildjian New Beats or Mastersound, but I'm open to anything else.

Chester 07-14-2006 06:28 PM

there is no "best"

I personally like AAX Stage hats, zildjian quick beats, and tons of differnet paiste models, try them out in a store and see what you like best. The ones you mentioned are fine.

A buncha cymbals

Hey guys what would you reccommend me for general purpose cymbals but mainly rock sorta stuff, im looking for a set of high hats, a ride, and a crash, not really looking to spend too much (will spend what it takes though) as my drum set is a ludwig begginner set, thanks in advance

Im thinking about these http://cgi.ebay.com/Zildjian-ZXT-Rock-Cymbal-Free-Cymbal-stand-ship-more_W0QQitemZ160007129902QQihZ006QQcategoryZ47083QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem BUT i really dont know much about cymbals and ive only been playing like seriously a month now (tryna get into drums, im a guitarist though), looking to spend about the price of these also

Static 07-14-2006 10:49 PM

Nononononono.

Stay clear of ZBT, ZXT, B8, and PST cymbals. Personally, I think you should buy yourself an advanced set of hats and a ride, if you have the money that is. And if this is something you know you'll be doing for a long time, just get advanced cymbals. Beginner cymbals are a waste of money.

Look for-
Zildjian K, K Custom, A, A Custom
Sabian AA, AAX, HHX, HH, Vault
Paiste Signature, Traditional, Rude, 2002, New Signature
Meinl (Sean can elaborate)
Bosphorus
Istanbul
Alchemy

All those make great advanced cymbals.

Otherwise, go Wuhan.

Used666 07-14-2006 10:55 PM

Can you suggest me specifics?

As in which specific brands and models for which specific cymbal, i appreciate the help

I <3 Meinl, Byzance are incredible, buy them, they sound like Ks and K Customs, but their cheaper, so they kick ***. but i have to disagree with u on 1 thing george, PST5s are actually really great cymbals, ask Thugs(where ever he is, i do not know, but if you find him you can ask him).

how do A Mastersounds sound(not A Customs, but As) i'm gettin' new hats soon, and i haven't seen A Mastersounds around, so i can't try them myself(though i'm probably just gettin' 13'' sig dry crisp hats or 13'' sig soundedges)
