Animals is one of the greates albums ever produced. By anyone.

lunch998 04-09-2005 06:29 PM

Stop being idiots and responding to that guys post. It makes you look almost as dumb as him.

pigonthewing82 04-09-2005 06:37 PM

You know one effect Gilmour uses a lot in his songs is that weird slide riff used at the begining of Is There Anybody Out There (song). He also uses it in Echos, and The Embryo. Are there any other songs he uses it in, I find that those songs kick ass

You're right, we shouldn't be stupid like him. But you have to admit, if he doesn't like Pink Floyd then what the fuck is he doing in this thread?

pigonthewing82 04-09-2005 07:06 PM

I just got a Pink Floyd bootleg today that is made up of mostly Blues jams. Wow Gilmour is one hell of a Blues player, there are some parts where you would think you were listening to Red House.

Sonic_Immersion 04-09-2005 07:17 PM

I bet Gilmour could play mostly anthing.

Such A talent.

pigonthewing82 04-09-2005 07:29 PM

Yeah he really is I mean some of the stuff he plays is in a genre of itself.

Kingofdudes 04-09-2005 08:54 PM

When you think about it, it is weird that they chose Gilmour to play for them. They are all very jazz influenced, while Gilmour is a blues man through and through.

DeusExMachina 04-09-2005 09:05 PM

I don't really think the rest of the band is all that jazz influenced. Wright is more classical influenced than anything, and Waters doesn't really strike me as having a jazz bass style. Mason, I can't give a good opinion on, so I won't try.

Kingofdudes 04-09-2005 09:08 PM

good point, I was thinking more of what Syd was inspired.

But Wright did have some Jazz influence, he said a Jazz musician(I cant remember his name) influenced him on a few songs on DSotM.

standard 04-09-2005 09:12 PM

Gilmour isn't exactly Jazz influenced (listen to stuff after Waters, that's all Gilmour), but he is a VERY talented guitarist, and was a good friend of the band members. Why not use him!

Kingofdudes 04-09-2005 09:13 PM
Gilmour isn't exactly Jazz influenced
I never said he was

i think we can all agree on one thing...Pink Floyd is one of the best bands to ever live....and although syd was only in for the beggingin do to acid is always going to be a part of pink floyd.....personaly.....i cant listen to individual songs on albums like....Final Cut...gotta play the whole thing through.....thats just me

Yeah its rare I skip songs on the Floyd albums unless I don't have much time to listen to the whole album and have one stuck in my head.

pigonthewing82 04-09-2005 09:56 PM

I love how a lot of their albums run together and the albums end off with the same concept, sound effect, or basic song, as the first track. I mean there are just some days where I listen to my entire Pink Floyd collection from start to finish. Those days are better then sex.

Miles Davis I think.

lunch998 04-09-2005 10:49 PM

Isn't the name Pink Floyd from two jazz musicians?

pigonthewing82 04-09-2005 11:00 PM
Isn't the name Pink Floyd from two jazz musicians?
Blues, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council

magicbus 04-10-2005 10:51 AM

If you have Ummagumma, post. Because its sweet, and I can never remember who has it. I do.
I bet Gilmour could play mostly anthing.

no way near, he couldn't play half the shred stuff around today.

he was still amazingly talented tho, one of my favourite guitarists ever.

DeusExMachina 04-10-2005 11:11 AM
no way near, he couldn't play half the shred stuff around today.

I love Gilmour, but I agree. He didn't play fast. When asked why in an interview, he said it was because he couldn't. I don't know if he was joking around or not, but I personally think the quality of music would diminish if he tried to play fast shred stuff. But yeah, not a shredder.

skynyrd73 04-10-2005 11:56 AM

yea i agree...like in Final Cut just for example.....its like soothing not like fast....not like hendrix by any means but a amzing guitartist

skynyrd73 04-10-2005 12:09 PM

high in the sky turned out to be miles to high...and u hide hide hide..........behind brown and mild eyes..........all day baby.....hey!! hey! get yr filthy hands off my desert......what did he say?
Wish You Were Here was good, but it did not have that much harmony. My favorite Pink Floyd Album has to be either Animals or Dark Side of the Moon. hell yea dude...u nailed it....u cant like Darkside or The wall and thats all and call urslef a fan....and kids these days have no respect for the music...they like another brick in the the wall part 2(correct me if im wrong) beauce it said we dont no no educaton...(in a private school) its realy a shame.....this rap crap has literaly killed music

skynyrd73 04-10-2005 12:23 PM

rojer waters had the biggest influenze on the music that went main stream....although some of the wall is about syd its about rojers experiences with syd....comfortabu numb for example....whats everyones veiw on the song "not now john"....(The Final Cut)?

magicbus 04-10-2005 12:27 PM

I have it, and you know I really wish it was longer, I'm sure any fan would agree that we would rather have sacrificed the studio album for more live stuff.

Has anyone heard 'A Spanish Piece' off More. It's really... odd.

Riva 04-10-2005 11:36 PM

/Me puts on Tape.

I cannot quite remember how it goes.

Did you mean the gutteral lyrics are weird?

Ah, yes, well, it would make more sense when related to the movie, I imagine.

Pass the tequila Manuel
Listen gringo
Laugh at my lisp and I kill you
I think!
Ahh this Spanish music
It sets my soul on fire
Lovely senorita
Your eyes are like stars
Your teeth are like pearls
Your ruby lips senorita
