So, I just saw Paul Baribeau, Captain Chaos, and Craig Salt Peters (new Plan-It-X artist) in my friend's living room. It was sick. Chris Clavin remembered me, and we had a long talk about various strategies on how to make flashes look better when taking band pictures and how he lives in Washington now.

RetiredAt21 11-29-2006 02:55 AM

I've never heard of any of those bands. Linkage?

Brain Toad 11-29-2006 02:57 AM

Haha Justin, those bands aren't nearly hard enough for you. You'd probably die listening to them.

Subvert_bassist 11-29-2006 03:29 AM

Yeah, they're probably not. They're folk; Captain Chaos is Chris from Ghost Mice. But here's linkage, anyways:

Gnarmageddon 11-29-2006 11:20 AM

So who is Cliff Clavin from Operation Cliff Clavin? Chris Clavin's dad, maybe?

Clavin Clavin Clavin Clavin Clavin Clavin Clavin.

You don't know who Cliff Clavin is?!

Cliff Clavin is Clifford Clavin from Cheers, the mailman played by John Ratzenberger

Chris Clavin isn't even Chris real name, just the name he took because of the band.

Hahahaha, thanks for the warning.

Subvert_bassist 11-29-2006 01:19 PM

Cliff Clavin is Chris, too. He's been in like six bands.

Oh, rofl.

/has never watched Cheers

RetiredAt21 11-29-2006 04:35 PM

I hate Cheers.

AIRIC 11-29-2006 05:08 PM

Captain Chaos is one of my favorite "bands" ever. How was it?

Neoteric 11-29-2006 05:44 PM

I've been listening to Napalm Death again.

Brain Toad 11-29-2006 06:02 PM

Chris used the name Chris Clavin when Op:CC was together and I think uses it still in Ghost Mice. His real name is Chris Johnston.

Feel The Darkness 11-29-2006 06:31 PM

Check out this new band from Houston:
http://www.myspace.com/deathofatyrant

melodic Scandi-styled d-beat/hardcore. good stuff.

AIRIC 11-29-2006 07:10 PM

Those guys sounded pretty good.
I hope they release some stuff.

Real sick, dude. There was only like twenty people there. Everyone was like drinking tea and joking with each other. It's the second time I've met Chris; he's a real nice guy.

In Folk Punk We Crust

Are there any known folk grind bands?

Resistant Culture?

Subvert_bassist 11-30-2006 12:51 AM

That's a stretch, but I see where you're coming from.

Those guys are nuts. We played with them in backwoods-ass Ione, and after the show, they just stood in the backyard listening to the wolves howl for like an hour.

I will have to check them out.

I hope not. I don't think that would sound too good.

Well, it's not American Folk as most are used to, but they do incorporate some of that Native American shit in there.

Backed, folk punk sucks anyways.

DaveToopes 11-30-2006 04:15 PM

No way folk punk is awesome.

Feel The Darkness 11-30-2006 04:30 PM

The only folk punk I like is Las Cruces or Defiance, Ohio. Ghost Mice is okay, but I don't really like much else.

Flagjacket 11-30-2006 05:22 PM

Folk punk rules! I lvoe Definace, Ohio, some of the old AM! stuff, and Evan Greer.

Oh right Planit X.

whiteminority 11-30-2006 06:11 PM

Folk punk is boring.

AIRIC 11-30-2006 06:14 PM

I like some folk punk. Defiance, Ohio are awesome.

DaveToopes 11-30-2006 06:15 PM
Folk punk is boring.
So Orchid if you listen to them too much. Variety is key.

Gnarmageddon 11-30-2006 06:34 PM

J, do you have a new screen name? I haven't seen you online in a while and I've been meaning to snag some stuff from you. >_>

AIRIC 11-30-2006 07:52 PM

Hey Andy do Graves At Sea have any more material? Documents of Grief is fucking sick.

DaveToopes 11-30-2006 08:22 PM

What are they like Eric?

AIRIC 11-30-2006 08:22 PM

Sludgy shit.

yessir, it's xStruggleofLifex. Buddy list is still the same, so feel free to browse my Get File.

RetiredAt21 11-30-2006 09:19 PM

Graves At Sea f'ucking rule.

AIRIC 11-30-2006 10:00 PM

Yeah they're so awesome.

Subvert_bassist 12-01-2006 02:41 AM

Eric, you can get their split with Asunder from me. Look in my slsk files, under "splits". I also have a live album with a couple unreleased songs on it. Other than those two and Documents of Grief, there isn't anything else, unless they were featured on some unknown comp or some shit.
So Orchid if you listen to them too much. Variety is key.
I've never found Orchid boring but they're also one of my favorite bands. I just have never been able to get anything out of any of the folk punk bands I have been suggested.

I like folk, I like punk, but I don't like them combined.

RetiredAt21 12-01-2006 11:58 AM

Folk punk is a fad.
