I wouldn't ban you anyway. ;)

Ollie, on the other hand...

NP: Galloglass - Dragons Revenge (Hehe, your post inspired me)

Also, how brilliant is Welcome, by Savatage!
Apocalyptic Raids 01-18-2006 09:17 PM
Of course it's awesome, it's Dungeon!

Titch, I believe you...thousands wouldn't

I am Death(On Ressurection, not ARTP) is so good on the live album, there may be some sort of law in place aginst songs being that good...
I like Resurrection and Insanity's Fall better on the live album.

I Am Death has the best soloing though.

Steerpike 01-18-2006 09:20 PM
Also, how brilliant is Welcome, by Savatage!
Is there anything they've done that isn't brilliant?

Apocalyptic Raids 01-18-2006 09:27 PM

I really need to get me some Savatage.

JausmetalJ 01-18-2006 09:45 PM

Sabaton - Primo Victoria
Savatage - Hall Of The Mountain King

Lord Abortion 01-19-2006 04:31 AM

Gamma Ray-Powerplant is one I'm enjoying currently.

Riva 01-19-2006 04:51 AM

The ones in my avatar are:

Lost Horizon - A Flame To The Ground Beneath
Sabaton - Primo Victoria
Savatage - Hall Of The Mountain King
Blind Guardian - Nightfall In Middle-Earth
Tarot - Stigmata
Galloglass - Legends From Now And Nevermore
Running Wild - Black Hand Inn

And I'm sure you already know Dungeon and Dragonforce. :)

Lord Abortion 01-19-2006 04:54 AM

And Iced Earth, suspicious lack of them in your Avatar, Riva.

I'm going to get Primo Victoria when it comes down in price, it's like £10 on Amazon.
Too rich for my blood :p

Apocalyptic Raids 01-19-2006 04:55 AM

Since you mention Running Wild, I'm listening to the live album Ready For Boarding now.

\m/

shadow_stalker 01-19-2006 06:47 AM

Edguy - Hellfire club

speaking of which, i got the Superheros EP through the post today and it is bloody brilliant, 'Judas at the opera' is one of the funniest song i have ever heard

Wuthering Heights - Far from the Maddening crowd
Kamelot - The fourth Legacy

My 2 favorite Power metal albums at the moment.

MetalOz 01-19-2006 11:24 AM

Those in the North America going to be fortunate enough to see this:
Gamma Ray will only be doing 3 US shows and a total of 6 in North America. Do not miss one of the greatest power metal bands on the planet! With support from Into Eternity who have written some new material. I'll be there on May 2nd!

Lord Abortion 01-19-2006 03:32 PM

They touring Europe at all?

I know Helloween are next month, but...

podbassist 01-19-2006 03:33 PM

Iron Maiden is Power Metal and I just recently bought 10 of their albums

Iron Maiden
Killers
Number Of The Beast
Piece Of Mind
Powerslave
Live After Death
Somewhere In Time
Seventh Son Of A Sevtnh Son
Fear Of The Dark
A Real Live Dead One

Stoic 01-19-2006 03:34 PM

Iron Maiden were a huge influence to the power metal scene but I doubt they're really power metal themselves...

Seventh Son of a Seventh Son rules \m/

Bruce sings in all of these except for Iron Maiden and Killers both of which contain some ULTRA classic heavy metal pieces.

Ah ok thanks.

Well that narrows things down :p ..

Quoted for tr00fness. Killers can't be touched.

Lord Abortion 01-19-2006 03:55 PM

I would get X-Factor.
It's not Bruce, but Blaze is actually more like Barlow's lower more baritone parts.

IheartSP 01-19-2006 03:55 PM

Bruce sings on everything except Iron Maiden, Killers, The X Factor, and Virtual XI. The two blaze albums I think had some okay music but the singing was just horrendus.

Yeah it is still considered heavy metal but when paul di'anno was with they it sounded A LITTLE more punkish. Still good though.

indeed.

To a beginner I would only recommend Iron Maiden's 80s albums.

They didn't have any amazing releases in the 90's but both 2000+ albums are top notch.

I agree brave new world is awesome. The Wicker Man is incredible.

Stoic 01-19-2006 04:01 PM

80s>00s>90s I agree on that ;)

I had listnened to it int he store with the sampler machine thingy. I think i might get that one then.

I was gunna listen to what Lord Abortion said...but after what you siad, you put me doubts...why only Iron Maidens 80's albums for beginner like me ?

Cause the 80s albums of iron maiden are the heart of all the record they have put out.

I'm saying this because their 80s releases are supposed to be their best and as a beginner I prefer to start from the so called classic album(s) and gradually move onto the more obscure material of a band. Ollie may like this album but it's considered Iron Maiden's worst by many.

Lord Abortion 01-19-2006 04:08 PM

If you go to the Maiden thread, you will find noone who doesn't love Blaze.

It's only idiots and the music press (one and the same) who give the impression that XF was a bad album.

True no one in that thread hates blaze, and actually i would actually say that i like x factor better than no prayer for the dying.

Lord Abortion 01-19-2006 04:12 PM

It's better than most of the 80's stuff, and I would really reccommend Stormrider gets it if he loves Iced Earth, It's a very dark and introspective album, like alot of IE stuff.

Stoic 01-19-2006 04:13 PM

I think it was all a reaction against maiden's golden line up split.

Anyways, it's up to him to choose. Some song samples would help :)

oh and Ollie tell me that XF is NOT your favourite maiden please...

Sorry Stoic, but that ones a winner then.

Can you just name a few songs ?

My dad doesnt want me to accept any stuff from here :shrugs: Its his computer though...

Stoic 01-19-2006 04:15 PM

 no problem. I've never been an Iron Maiden fanboy anyway :p

Lord Abortion 01-19-2006 04:16 PM

I would give him some, but I'm on Dialup here...

The lineup split was a good thing.
Bruce was sick of it, the mediocre nature of No Prayer and Fear of the dark prove this, they are easily Maiden's worst efforts.
Blaze in the band gave them a kick up the arse, and they realised that it was all very well writing about fantasy, but Steve felt "By the age of thirty, there was just other stuff to write about, in life."

IheartSP 01-19-2006 04:20 PM

Sorry Lord Abortion, I'm really only judging off hearing the few songs I've heard. The only one I actually have is Sign of the Cross and I think Bruce's version on Rock In Rio totally owns Blaze, that's all I have at my disposal to judge on. Is his other stuff better? His voice seemed week and lacked the vibrato Bruce has to really make it sound good.

And I take offense when you said "your opinion sucked" cause that's an opinion itself, and just becuase you don't agree doesn't mean it sucks.
