I'm sure they have their reasons.

Flagjacket 10-29-2007 04:20 PM

According to this forum ska bands are advised to center their touring schedules around playing Ajax/Toronto every two weeks.

i just don't see why go through every major city in the US and not hit one canadian city.

SkaRobotArmy 10-29-2007 07:20 PM

they just did, it wasn't a canadian tour, they came here on nights off from RBF and LTJ didn't they? cause they love us so much?

fathergoat 10-29-2007 07:29 PM

Ajax is where it's at.

Jessizzle 10-30-2007 08:18 AM

no ajax sucks goddamit i hate living here! im thinking of moving to london or maybe even K-W area. in the next couple of years.

anyways back to my point, cant everyone just chill and actually listen to the album. without analyzing and juding every ****ing note. TAKE a step back and just moss to the music for a bit. honestly way to take the fun out of the music. Im sure most people will agree that this is a very good album, but why does everyone need to pick it apart, looking for fault. OF COURSE if you look hard enough you'll find fault in anything. The album probly took so long because theres people like you guys complaining that a couple notes were not PERFECTLY thought out with a deeper meaning behind it.

lynch_me 10-30-2007 08:40 AM

They're just observations as to what works and what doesn't.

SkaRobotArmy 10-30-2007 09:15 AM

its because the last one was so good the expectation were huge and i think some people were let down a little.

fathergoat 10-30-2007 12:05 PM

Yeah, thats pretty much it. We need bands to come here or else we're stuck going to the gym or something I can't be bothered with. I am here til University, then hopefully I'll be in London.

As for the album, I was just expecting something different, not more of the same. I'll probably have to give it awhile.

Catchthe22 10-30-2007 12:57 PM

Judging music in depth is what separates it from mainstream stuff. It's why there is highly respected publishers like pitchfork, CMJ and even Rolling Stone. Hype can ruin an opinion at first so its good to really gather whats going on before we say its so awesome and its a classic. I think most will say that Somewhere in the Between is good but now we have to say why it isn't groundbreaking like we were hoping.

I personally expected EGN 2 and thats exactly what it was, im so happy haha. the trick is, if you dont have high expectations, you wont get dissapointed!!

and do you live in north or south? i live in the village areaaish.

Aficionado 10-30-2007 01:11 PM

See jess, its called critical thinking. You gotta use it sometimes.

Jessizzle 10-30-2007 01:21 PM

Today my teacher actually said that deep down, i was a genius, im just not good at school and that sorta stuff.

Liebensaft 10-30-2007 01:29 PM

The album is growing on me. It's not mind-blowing at all, but it's still pretty cool. My list of qualms goes like this:

1. Some parts of songs just don't sound right where they are
2. Drums should be louder. Not so that it sounds horribly recorded, but just to make it more personable and reminiscent of their first album.
3. More variation in song structure. A lot of songs sound similar, and there's not much difference from EGN, which isn't necessarily a bad thing either.

DougJI 10-30-2007 01:43 PM

Am I the only one who sees massive difference between this and EGN?

tom79 10-30-2007 01:49 PM

I don't see a huge difference. EGN just has more better songs, but SitB is awesome as well. It's pretty much the ideal follow up I was expecting.

albert_bass 10-30-2007 02:24 PM

I don't know what the **** where you guys expecting. A totally different album than EGN? It is pretty different actually, only really similar song being Watch It Crash.

I truly think you were expecting way too much. I agree with Jess here, you don't need to have huge expectations because most likely it will ruin the experience for you. Hell, you even should be thankful they put out another good album. It's not a classic, it has hits and misses but what is classic these days? Where you expecting some kind of London Calling or what? I just don't get it.

Now this.

iliketoplaydrums10111 10-30-2007 02:40 PM

This album is really growing on me.

We Will Fall Together is probably my favorite song ATM because I love the chorus. Some songs are not that memorable but overall, a great album.

Flagjacket 10-30-2007 02:50 PM

Can ska really go in any direction but similar to something someone has done before.

DougJI 10-30-2007 03:06 PM
Can ska really go in any direction but similar to something someone has done before.
people said the same thing about rock and roll 50 years ago.

Flagjacket 10-30-2007 03:17 PM

That doesn't make it true for ska which has been around for like 40 years already.

Jessizzle 10-30-2007 03:18 PM

but ska has changed so much.. from first wave to third wave??

Flagjacket 10-30-2007 03:19 PM

I was just making an observation based on how everyone is all "aww Streetlights album sounds like their last one"

Jessizzle 10-30-2007 03:21 PM

i dont see whats wrong with that though... if they did something diffrent everyone would be like aw man this album sucks, they shoulda just made another album like EGN...

but kev, i love you always <3
Can ska really go in any direction but similar to something someone has done before.
of all the genres i can think of, ska and metal are really the only ones progressing at all...

I didn't say anything was wrong with it I haven't even listened to the album I'm just saying that people are all complaining that it doesn't differ much when I don't think it could really go anywhere else to begin with.

P@SkaRobotArmy: ..... really?

ZaaR 10-30-2007 03:46 PM

good album, just doesn't measure up to tom's other stuff.
