hmm, dont know much about those new hybrids, but i love the A splashes

FL3P 02-09-2006 06:46 PM

You dont even know what the Hybrids really sound like or if they are the right cymbals for you. Wait till you here them and then decide, just cause they are the new thing and look cool doesnt mean they are what you need.

The 20" K Hybrid ride sounds sooo nice on the site, though. I'm probably going to buy to use for just a crash.
I basically play every type of music and I was looking at the 13" K/Z Dyno Beats or New Beats..Anyone know which hi-hats are very versatile and can be used for most types of music?

I've heard the Hybrids up at PASIC, and they were very versitile. They can get to really high volumes, but sound equally as good at low volumes.

FL3P 02-10-2006 12:06 PM

They come across as pretty dry from the sound of the clips, how were they up close?

saars 02-10-2006 05:19 PM
good versatile splash=10inch sabian AA splash. GC doesnt carry AA but they will order it for you. I would jsut order it from massmusic if i was you if youre going sabians.
FIRST QUESTION: trad or brilliant for the splash?

SECOND QUESTION: Zildjian A custom ping ride or A series sweet ride?

Tim 02-10-2006 05:23 PM

IMO A custom rides suck. If you want a ping i think you would be better of getting the reg A ping.

saars 02-10-2006 05:25 PM

nah, those are my only choices cause someone is giving me a choice of those. So, I'll buy the sweet ride!:)

Sweet ride, you won't regret it. I fooking love mine.

Edit to PunkRocker: I have the 13" K/Z's got them a few days ago *will post pics soon* and they are sex. Sound fantastic the click is great sounds fantastic when playing 12/8.

Tim 02-10-2006 05:49 PM

I agree..My ping ride is amaizing.

GhostGrooveMike 02-10-2006 10:29 PM

i just need to know i nice deep dark crash that isnt over $150

saars 02-10-2006 11:17 PM

I believe a 17" HHX stage crash cymbal goes for 159.99 USD. check out the sabian site for sound clips. I love it, you would probably love it too. yeah, I went over 9 bucks, but that's ok, you just save 9 more dollars!

I've tried the A Custom ping ride and wasn't overly impressed but I have the A Custom medium ride and it seems to be an underrated ride.

straycat101 02-10-2006 11:34 PM

question... do you think i should: A. Upgrade my crash to a cast cymbal. or B. buy a nice wuhan china/splash combo.
im not sure myself...

chewaz 02-10-2006 11:43 PM

Actually yeah youre right. I think thats the only ride from A custom thats a good one. I went to stockdale Music last nite after dinner at outback steakhouse and Wanted to try some cymbals and the medium wasnt too bad. Didnt get to try it on a kit though i just tried it by itself. I also tried some stagg stuff. thats the only store if seen with stagg cymbals. One of the rides I really really Liked but i cant remember what it was called. Im not too familiar with staggs excpet their chinas and splashes. It was a 22inch ride though thats all i remember.

HeLLmO 02-11-2006 10:07 AM

^god i love the outback, what did u have? they have the sickest bacon cheese fries

Tim 02-11-2006 01:03 PM
^god i love the outback, what did u have? they have the sickest bacon cheese fries
ummm i had a 12oz steak medium well cooked and some mashed potatoes with some potato soup(that was really good) and the little appetizer bread that they bring you. I also ate some fries too that my dad took forever eating. haha. totally off topic haha. In cymbal news though I am still looking for which Ride i want. Thats why im going to buy the snare first so I have more time deciding which ride i want. It will probably be something from the AA line though.

saars 02-11-2006 02:18 PM

holy crap, it's lunch time and you guys got me starving!!! I don't like you...

OK, now we go back on topic:p

chewaz 02-11-2006 05:37 PM

AHHHHHHHH!!! crap! answer plz!
K Heavy ride = HH heavy ride?

FL3P 02-11-2006 05:41 PM

Go to the sites and listen to the clips. I would say thats true but you should listen for yourself.

chewaz 02-11-2006 05:44 PM

wow, your mean that for my question right? cuz i did that and they almost sound the same not many differences, :P well sabian is cheaper, but zre they both pingy? i have this idea that HH have loud volume and they won't work good on stage, :S

FL3P 02-11-2006 05:52 PM

They should both be fairly dark and have a nice ping.

full collapse 02-11-2006 08:18 PM

Right now I have a 21" AA Dry ride and i'm looking for something with a bigger bell, a bit more stick definition and just a little louder and cutting overall really. More presence... No price restriction or brand preference.
