I'm just saying a lot of people call any band that doesn't play straight up raw BM "hipster black metal" which is pretty stupid, I've seen people call Drudkh hipster black metal. Like obviously there are some lame hipster fucks in the genre but I don't think that really means it should get a whole tag.

I prefer rawer production, it just doesn't sound right when BM is all slick and polished over.

worst thing is when a band (Mayhem, i'm looking at you) get a bit of financial backing, learn to record better then try and make a "return to roots" album that sounds intentionally ass

dimmu borgir sounded a hell of a lot better on Enthrone Darkness Triumphant vs. For All Tid and Stormblast

Darkthrone spent a lot of time and money making Transylvanian Hunger sound as bad as humanly possible.
