75% of that list is balls.

Meatplow 04-26-2010 10:25 PM

not looking to debate the list itself

silkforcalde 04-26-2010 11:58 PM

Damn, Weakling at the #50 spot? I'd put it in top 10 BM albums easily. The title track is just absolutely amazing. Definitely prefer it to all the Darkthrone, Burzum, and Mayhem albums. Emperor, we're going to be cutting it close.
31) For some, Paysage d'Hiver's self-titled album might be a bit too raw. I advise these people to shave off their nipples with a cheese grater. This is one of the most promising bands in the underground now, totally rejecting the thrash-derived standards of the genre and moving black metal more in the directions of classical and ambient electronic music. The songs on this album are epic in length and completely ferocious in tone, but manage to exhibit a highly refined sense of melody, even to the extent of introducing the violin as an effective part of black metal instrumentation! Paysage d'Hiver is a band to keep your eye on in the future.
thoughts on Drudkh?

listened to Autumn Aurora before, not bad

Nostalgia 04-27-2010 01:31 AM

I like the song Furrows of Gods, but they bore the **** out of me. I've heard every full-length I think, too.

listening to maniac's chainsaw guts**** and ugh so much satanic manipulation going on

FatalEnergy 04-27-2010 02:01 AM

I actually find all of Drudkh's material awesome. Hate Forest in general isn't as good, but the Battlefields album is better than any of the Drudkh stuff.

Listening to Kristallnacht. Band is so ****ing good.

rasputin 04-27-2010 02:55 AM

yeah drudkh are one of my favourite bands

Morumbar 04-27-2010 03:15 AM

Drudkh is good. I think Blood In Our Wells is my favourite, but Autumn Aurora is pretty close behind.

FatalEnergy 04-27-2010 03:23 AM

Blood In Our Wells is the most memorable for me. I suppose that's the one I like the most.

rasputin 04-27-2010 03:26 AM

yah blood is the best
How can one not like Altar of Plagues? haha, seriously. What's so bad about them?
Especially someone who's into screamo... I mean come on, it's just slow depressive black metal with screamo and hardcore vocals thrown in.

Morumbar 04-27-2010 03:31 AM

It's a shame that everything in Altar Of Plagues' Tides sounds so distant. I miss the "in your face" feel of White Tomb. Other than that, it's good.

rasputin 04-27-2010 03:39 AM

altar of plagues is snoooooring

some of the vocals are really bad too

witchxrapist 04-27-2010 03:39 AM

I like that "distant" sound.

Also, I love the intro in The Weight Of All... sounds like something a French emo band would write.

And I think their vocals are pretty much perfect. So emotions.

Morumbar 04-27-2010 03:42 AM

Really can't complain about the vocals.

****, wasting time on MX when I should be studying..

FatalEnergy 04-27-2010 03:44 AM

Wow, this thread is getting gay.

witchxrapist 04-27-2010 03:51 AM

You're the expert.

FatalEnergy 04-27-2010 04:00 AM

oh baby

witchxrapist 04-27-2010 04:10 AM

i nvr met a boi who suc dik gud as u

Stevie 04-27-2010 04:48 AM

what's wrong with people? why do people recommmend bands even i've not heard of after listening to black metal for 6 years as 'starting points'?

witchxrapist 04-27-2010 04:48 AM

No clue.

FatalEnergy 04-27-2010 04:50 AM

I don't even know why people ask for "intro" bands. Just find out the few bands that pioneered the genre. Start with them and work your way up.

That works for basically any genre of music.

rasputin 04-27-2010 05:02 AM

burzummmmm 4 lyf
