you know, about the technicality issue, i really don't know who's on top, metallica or megadeth. most people say megadeth, but i never hear reasons. metallica's song structure is so incredibly perfect for the brunt of their songs, and there have been some deth songs that i can't listen to all the way through. i can listen to every metallica song all teh way through and not get bored of it, even sweet amber or something, i love em all.
What? you love them all but you can't listen to them all the way through?

metalmilitia101 11-02-2005 09:37 PM

i said i CAN listen to them all the way through

sorry if that was confusing :upset: it was too many words for me

Britton 11-02-2005 09:39 PM
i said i CAN listen to them all the way through

Oh dang my bad.

I'm too tired to do anything but this...and I', having trouble at that

But why would you say that? it doesn't really make sense

metalmilitia101 11-02-2005 09:42 PM

haha, i don't understand your question.

i love every metallica song, and i can listen to everyone all the way through. i love megadeth, but i some of their songs i just can't stand listening to all of it. and my other thing was that i don't see a reason for megadeth being more of a technical band than metallica.

Britton 11-02-2005 09:47 PM

Well I don't either. if it's early stuff we are talking about then I see it as a
draw...but if you compare Black Album to RIP I'd say Tallica is much less
techinacal.

and what I meant about you liking them...it would seem obvius to me that
you would be able to listen to the whole song. if you in fact liked them.

But I'm gonna stop talking cause I'm not making sense and nobody esle
is making sense to me LoL
I've had lots of trouble with it.

Let's ask Joe he was learning it at one time.

How about it Joe?
Everything was ok except the verse.
speed on battery especially for bass makes it very hard to play well
post more!
Hey, i'm new to this site but Metallica is by far my fav band, so i thought i'd try and get in on this chat room. Um...i used to play bass but i never really bothered to learn any metallica songs because i kinda sucked and was unable to play them. Anywho i play guitar now and can play 30 or 40 of there songs, its always been somewhat of a dream of mine to learn the solo to ride the lightning but i doubt that will ever happen although i can play the first like 10 secs of it. Another very challenging solo i think is the solo to master of puppets its no where near as hard as the RTL solo buts its still wuite difficult it took me like 2 days to learn. Any who i should shut up before i start to ramble but if wanna talk metallica especially about solos n' stuff message me
Awesome man, welcome to the forums. 30/40 songs in general or Metallica songs? The most challenging solo is probably a longer one simply because you have to memorize it (for example Disposable Hereos, RTL, etc) and that's my opinion. I think they have a good bunch of challenging solos, all of which are learn...able?
What? you love them all but you can't listen to them all the way through?
I've been like that too. There are some songs where it's like at the beginning "sweet" and then a few minutes later you get bored.

edit: Welcome to Thrash Em All too :thumb:

iuno, in my opinion rtl has a pretty easy solo. thats just imo though.

yeah i know some songs where its like SWEET at the intro and then peters off, but no metallica songs lol.

I was just listening to Metallica's Black Album ..... this is by far, my favorite album ever. It was the first CD I ever owned/listened to and will definately be one of my favorites for my entire lifetime.

Eh... I just actually listened that a few days ago, after not listening to it in a few months. I actually got bored of it pretty quickly. I guess I just love my older Metallica a lot more. I think ...AJFA is their best album followed by Master of Puppets, then Ride The Lightning.

metalmilitia101 11-03-2005 12:00 AM

yeah, i prefer the older stuff too. however, i believe that the black album is insanely awesome, and it is better than kem in my opinion.

Yea, black album is great. I like wherever I may roam, the unforgiven, and nem most on it. Enter Sandman is also pretty good once in a while.

Britton 11-03-2005 12:35 AM

Wherever I may roam?...hmm...Oh yea that's the song I got my brains
beat out of while moshin with Tallica!

Okay so I might be getting a new amp soon...so I can play Metal again!

Thats cool, but the black album kinda bores me. I don't know what it is but I could never really get into the album. I think 'unfogiven' and 'through the never' are cool songs though.

yeah man that is a tricky solo, something that i find helps though is alot of tabs for it say you should pull off from seventeen to twelve at the beginning. but i don't use pull offs there its easier not too and sounds reletively the same. Or you could be talking about the interlude solo but i doubt it cause that ones pretty easy

i can play between 30/40 metallica songs. I can play alot of other stuff but i prefer playing metallica. I agree some are the solos are really hard to play mostly because of there length. For example the RTL isn't that hard (for like the first half of it) but its really easy to get lost in the tab. Thats why i prefer alot of there shorter solos like the NEM solo or the intro solos the One and Fade to Black. Oh and the Solo in the middle of the interlude in Master Of Puppets. They're all fairly easy but still a blast to play

The second solo? I have trouble with the pull-offs and that's about it, I improv the rest sexily

And yeah I gues my trouble with Ktulu is the fact I don't fingerpick.

fatbandit 11-03-2005 10:44 AM

I thought James played it with a pick...?

I'll pay more attention to S&M next time...

:smash:

Jev 11-03-2005 10:45 AM

I have no idea. But I just ignore tabs that say "fingerpicked"

No, he plays the first part of the intro with his fingers, then the second part with a pick, you can't do it with a pick like you can with fingers.

fatbandit 11-03-2005 12:38 PM

Fair enough.

hmm.....i didn't know James fingerpicked that part either. Oh well its probably better that he does, fingerpicking usually sounds better on acoustic riffs like that. And fingerpicking is pretty easy anyways

No it's not :(
Especially when you have to play something with your thumb and another thing with your fingers.
