Downloading new Altar Of Plagues.
**** yessss. Hope it's as good as White Tomb. |
I'd like to see a solid definition for hipster black metal that doesn't contradict itself.
|
but that would be ironic
|
Hipster black metal is a term consisting of three words.
EDIT: Quickly skipped through the songs to get an idea of what to expect when I listen to this while studying tomorrow. Never a good idea, because that obviously never tells you anything when it comes to black metal. Gotta listen to the whole thing. I did notice that the guitars sounded less refined than on White Tomb. |
Clearly no other black metal band has sung about nature before "hipster black metal" (doesn't exist).
darkthrone and immortal are good starting points, get the first couple albums by both bands then try dissection, gorgoroth, bathory, beherit, burzum and ulver to get a feel for different styles of black metal and go from there |
skip all that hipster bullshit and go straight to krallice
|
lol
|
Belketre, Darkthrone, Burzum, Alcest, Blut Aus Nord, Amesoeurs, Altar Of Plagues, Sargeist, Fauna, Torgeist, Vlad Tepes.
That's like all my BM listening anymore. |

weakling - dead as dreams code - nouveau gleaming ...in the woods - heart of the ages drudkh - blood in our wells + autumn aurora dodheimsgard - satanic art ulver - bergtatt mortifera - vastiia tenebrd mortifera peste noire - ballade squirrelre lo anemi francor solefald - the linear scaffold these are all awesome albums that i would highly recommend edit: apparently the french word for "against" gets censored due to the inclusion of an english swear word so that peste noire title is absolutely butchered, the squirrelre should be a very similar word to the latin "contra" just replace the 'o' with 'u' and 'a' with 'e' |

both Darkthrone and Immortal have fairly consistent discographies (many won't agree though), definitely check out their more popular albums along with Mayhem and Burzum. It's good to get a grounding in a few of the key Norwegian bands before you reach out elsewhere, it is as good a starting point as any. |
Darkthrones middle albums are forgettable but theyre not bad
|
Darkthrone is superb
|
A blaze under the northern sky is by far my favorite
