indeed

Stephen King books are like Tom Clancy books: badly written but fun.

bearofintegrity 05-05-2005 06:11 PM

the only stephen king book ive read was the shining. i liked it, but it wasnt one of my favorite books.

pedro durruti 05-05-2005 06:11 PM

Did you guys know that Edgar Allen Poe married his daughter

AndreTheHyena 05-05-2005 06:11 PM

Get some real literature in your life. Read some Henry Miller. Or Albert Camus. I think you'd like The Sranger, by Camus. It's cold, numb, existentialism, and really good. And as for Henry Miller, Tropic of Cancer changed my life. He said "cunt" more than anyone else did back then.

edit: Jesus, I need to refresh more often. This was all directed at Nick.
Stephen King books are like Tom Clancy books: badly written but fun.
Haha, Clancy is such a douchebag.

Brain Toad 05-05-2005 06:15 PM

Added those books you said Andre to my list of books to look for. I will raid the used book stores when I go out next. Damn them for closing the only book store in Vallejo. We have no book stores here, none.

Why does everyone say Stephen Kings books are badly written, I really don't see it.
Why does everyone say Stephen Kings books are badly written, I really don't see it.
Yea. I really like Stephen King. And if people think they are badly written or use simple vocabulary... read The Catcher in the Rye. Amazing Book. Poorly written (even if it's intentional).

Biscuit_box 05-05-2005 06:20 PM

Just on a note about Stephen King... I could not believe the ending of the Dark Tower saga. Good books but the ending just makes it such a downfall

skankinBassist 05-05-2005 06:22 PM

I think he was aiming for a crappy ending. He's weird like that.

Brain Toad 05-05-2005 06:25 PM

I have the first few Dark Towers but haven't read them because they dont look appealing to me. Maybe during the summer I will challenge them. I should read Atlas Shrugged as well, the size the intimidating though.

Coma_Girl 05-05-2005 06:26 PM
Catch 22 is fantastic, although I had to read some paragraphs a couple times before they made sense. You've got to really pay attention in some parts.
i guess i'll buy it in french then.

Coma_Girl 05-05-2005 06:27 PM
read The Catcher in the Rye.
its the first book i ever read in english...and i liked it.

Brain Toad 05-05-2005 06:28 PM

Catcher in the Rye was alright, but it didn't stick out to me as amazing.

Coma_Girl 05-05-2005 06:30 PM
Catcher in the Rye was alright, but it didn't stick out to me as amazing.
I was so proud cause I had read it all and understood everything.

pedro durruti 05-05-2005 06:31 PM

You guys should read the novelization of Bring it on

skankinBassist 05-05-2005 06:33 PM
Catcher in the Rye was alright, but it didn't stick out to me as amazing.
I found it to be absolutely amazing and very connectable in numerous ways. I absolutely love the book. It's the kind of book you love or hate or think it's ok.

AndreTheHyena 05-05-2005 06:37 PM
It's the kind of book you love or hate or think it's ok.
You mean like anything else ever?

Going back to King, I agree that he's a crappy writer. I can write better than he can. I think that's why I dislike Vonnegut so much. His writing comes off as so half-assed.

skankinBassist 05-05-2005 06:39 PM

It was a joke, but whatever.

And, as for King, he has great ideas and stories but i dont think he likes to develop them literaturally.

sketchyjoe 05-05-2005 06:46 PM

I love Vonnegut. I hated Catcher in the Rye.

Yeah me too. That is the greatest book I've ever read.

Coma_Girl 05-05-2005 06:50 PM

the guy in the book (forgot his name) is so negative.he kinda reminded me of myself, so i guess that's why my english teacher wanted me to read this book.

skankinBassist 05-05-2005 06:52 PM

Holden Caulfield. He has depression. He doesn't flat out say it, but he smokes alot, thinks of death alot, pays attention to too much detail, shuts himself out from friends and family (mainly Jane).

Coma_Girl 05-05-2005 06:54 PM

then my teacher can probably read my mind.

skankinBassist 05-05-2005 07:03 PM

they all looked the same inside.I went to Quebec City and we went to the Tim Hortons there and it looked exactly like the one in St-Jean

Jessizzle 05-05-2005 07:51 PM

Im going to Quebec city for a french trip soon, its gonna be so awesome.

obese_breasts 05-05-2005 07:53 PM

You people post too **** much. I get hone and there are like 5 new pages.

Coma_Girl 05-05-2005 07:56 PM

Honnestly, Monday was the first time of my life I was in Quebec City, and I hated it. It's beautiful there...but people are so mean, they suck. And it's hard to find a way to get to where you want to go cause it's all one-way streets. And if you wanna eat something, you have no choice...the only restaurants I've seen in Quebec are subways.

Rise Me Up 05-05-2005 07:58 PM

I wish my school took cool trips :upset: .
