Jon, you wouldn't be a good psychiatrist because you'd just make them feel worse.

Stew: :p

Let's discuss how much I hate MY town.

Discuss..How much I hate my town.
It really pisses me off when people say stuff like that.

Mute Print 08-29-2006 09:18 PM
I know one thing I'm really interested in, but it doesn't lead to any career I'd particularly like, so I'm kinda stuck there.

I'm big into physcology, but I'm positive that I don't want to be a shrink. I want to do physcological research and the like, but usually it's students who do that, and the pay isn't very good (40-60k).
40-60k isn't terrible, depending on where you live.

I honestly have no clue what I want to do.

Surtr 08-29-2006 09:20 PM
It really pisses me off when people say stuff like that.
Why?

I mean, it's a nice town and all, but there's no one here that seems to have the same musical intrests as me. Like..seriously..Not a single person.

Chilly-Bean-Bop 08-29-2006 09:20 PM

Whats your best subject?

You should choose one that you like and that you're good at.

Besides music.

edit: To Brian.

It's not terrible.

But it's not particularly good, either.

I'm good at basically all math, and most sciences. I might look into something with computers as well.

I love music, but I'm not good at it. I'll just stick to going to shows, not playing them. :p

If I manage to make enough money, I'd love to start a club, though.

Pazz 08-29-2006 09:23 PM

What's going on pop-punk?

I thought the same thing for like 14 years.

Most people who think that just haven't look at the right people.

Having friends that are knowledgable about music are really, really overrated.

Whoa, nice. My best subjects too.

If you're good at those two subjects, you could pretty much do anything. And science has so much. Biology, astronomy, meteorology, forensics, physics, chemistry, etc. etc.

I'm sure that you'd never stop going to shows heh.

edit: Hey, Matt.

Being interesting in something and being interested in a job that involves a particular subject are two giant different things.

I'm screwed because I dig science but I can't do math.

Yeah, I just need to take some time and seriously consider what I want to do. Luckily, like you said, I have a lot of different areas to choose from.

I plan on going to shows for as long as I can physically manage. :p

Chilly-Bean-Bop 08-29-2006 09:27 PM

Jon: Well, I'm good at science.

I plan to go major in Meteorology and Astronomy, and do one of the two for a living.

Brian: You have this year and next though, right?

When you stop going, I want a total of how much money you spent on tickets.

Well, I'm looking for people to be in a band with. And I've searched through everyone I know and that my friends know and that my friends friends know and no one fits at all what I want. And my standards aren't high, at least I don't think.

I mean to be half decent (I suck, so really as long as your not totally new to guitar), to want to play something along the lines of what I do and to not be an asshole.

I've got one guy who meets that, and he's my best friend. And unless I get other people for this band he won't even join.

Chilly-Bean-Bop 08-29-2006 09:29 PM

Stew, why would a fridge be outside of a house?

:p

Pazz 08-29-2006 09:29 PM

I'm thinking on going to Uni in Toronto just so I can go to concerts.

Chilly-Bean-Bop 08-29-2006 09:29 PM

I plan to go to Oklahoma for college, I don't know why. Nothing there, heh.

I was increadibly suprised about how actually played an instrument in my school. A lot of "WTFUZ HE PLAYS BASS?"

My band is looking for a vocalist. Not many screamers in my town, though. During last practice we were playing What It Is To Burn for the first time and I sang my *** off, doing a little bit of screaming. My throat hurt after two choruses.

How can you be a professional astronomer?

What job do you want that involves astrology? Or meteorology?

(meteorology is lame, by the way)

Yeah, I'm a junior this year, so I have some time.

Hahaha, it'll be an insane amount, even with me getting into a ton of show free right now.

Oh there are tons of talented musicians in my school, tons, but none fit the other two catagorys (sp?).

Astronomy, not astrology. :p People get that wrong all the time.

Astronomy - An astronomer. Meteorology - Meteorologist on the local news or whatever.

Meteorology isn't lame, weather rawks.

Stew: Oic, k. :p

cobert 08-29-2006 09:37 PM

Its anchorMAN, not anchorLADY, and that is a scientific fact.

Chilly-Bean-Bop 08-29-2006 09:38 PM

Anchors aren't the Meteorologists...

Where could you get a job like that? How does it pay. What does being an astronomer involve? How difficult are astrology jobs to get?

That kind of job is extremely difficult to get.

Pazz 08-29-2006 09:38 PM
That's only a little sexist.:p
Fact:

David Letterman's wife should change her name to Mrs. Letterlady.

It would be sexist otherwise.

1st part: I don't know, but it's something I really love and I want to do it.

2nd part: I would rather be an astronomer, meteorology would just be a side thing, or something else to do.

I always wanted to go into music, because I truly am musically talented. But its hard getting a well paying job in music, unless you make it big in some band.

@ other post: Umm, I don't think that Letterman is married anymore, k.

BridgeToSolace 08-29-2006 09:42 PM
1st part: I don't know, but it's something I really love and I want to do it.
A lot of jobs and fields of study sound great until you actually find out what you do in them.

Well, I want to go into astronomy because you will always learn something new. There is always something new to learn.

Music, well...I have been playing piano for 8 years, I have won many awards, and I play piano in my music classes. I have played bass guitar for almost 2 years, and my teacher has recommended me to other students. I have been in chorus since last year, and I am in the top vocal group, Women's chorus, and in a 10 person choir that competes with the rest of the state.

Tjebby 08-29-2006 09:52 PM

Cob, no one knows movie quotes here.

The universe is EVEN BIGGER than we thought it was!

Seriously though if something makes you happy why shouldn't you try to make it your career? If your job is something you'll enjoy than it isn't a job. Don't listen to mr. No-fun over here :p
FACT: None of you people remember that part from Anchorman, I guess.
I love lamp.

BridgeToSolace 08-29-2006 09:53 PM

I'm not impressed by people who can play music someone else has written. How good are you at writing?

Chilly-Bean-Bop 08-29-2006 09:53 PM

Wendy Torrance: I just want to go back to my room to think things over.
Jack Torrance: You've had your whole ****ing life to think things over, what good's a few minutes more gonna do you now?

Quote, now guess it.

BEST MOVIE EVER BTW.

PDWAB: :p Jon suks srsly.

Jon: I'm pretty good at improvising stuff on the piano, haven't tried it much, but I'm above average.
