Speaking of drum recordings! I have managed to record several songs onto my MP3 player, is there a way of getting them to PC?

Heh, I would be trying, but my brother's snare skin broke :o

And we are far too lazy to replace it....

MRDuCran 10-03-2006 07:28 AM

I can play the drums to quite a few Tallica songs but I don't have a kit.

Have you guys seen the st anger rehersal dvd that comes with the album? It's acually alot better than the bob rock produced album. some of them are on youtube, one of the best ones in my opinions:

I really like the way James sings St. Anger on the DVD. It's a different pitch during the verse and it fits better imo.

bob rock ****ed up the sound of it trying to make it all gay numetal. the rehersal it was them just playing the songs without bob douche rock. they did a good thing by getting rid of bob. rob kicks *** at bass but they should have got a bassist that could do vocals

MRDuCran 10-03-2006 03:51 PM

What does that have to do with my post...

MrSigma 10-04-2006 05:32 PM

james hetfield made some really cool riffs for st anger. the vocals just killed it though. they should have hired a bassist that could sing

MRDuCran 10-04-2006 05:44 PM

I liked the vocals.

MrSigma 10-04-2006 05:47 PM

its really a better album then what it gets credit for, its good they hired a new producer for the new album.

i think the new album will be riffs by james and rob

Chu 10-04-2006 09:02 PM

I thought it was a good album, in all respects... I even liked Lars' drum tone, to an extent..

\m/Pete\m/ 10-04-2006 09:52 PM

what i like about metallica, actually what i love about metallica, is the fact that every album they've done has its own personality and every song is its own character. Thats what makes Metallica, well, Metallica! No one else can create an atmosphere like them.

I'm probably one of the only people who thinks this but Larz Ulrich is my fave meber of 'Tallica. :)

\m/Pete\m/ 10-04-2006 11:32 PM

i love lars, so did my ex girlfriend. i got her the mcfarlene figure of him for her last christmas.

actionfan32 10-04-2006 11:53 PM

While Lars isn't my favorite member of Metallica (that would have to be James), I think he's still cool. A lot of people seem to hate him, but from all the videos I've seen of him and stuff he seems like a pretty cool guy.

Something I really respect a lot about Metallica, is the fact that they act so professional. Like sometime back, The Dillenger Escape Plan and Avenged Sevenfold got in a feud, one band said something bad about the other and they all started arguing and stuff. But with Metallica, they get slammed all the time by people and bands, but they never do or say anything about it. They don't even defend themselves, they know they don't have to. They just ignore it, and that's really cool, considering how immature some bands are about stuff like that.

Agreed. One thing I really love about Metallica is the variety I can get from their music. If I just want straight-out heavy pounding thrashy stuff I can put on Ride the Lightning or ...And Justice For All, if I want some lighter more personal stuff there's a lot of that on the Black Album and Load & Reload, with songs like The Unforgiven, Nothing Else Matters, Until It Sleeps, Outlaw Torn, Fixxxer, etc. If I want something really heavy but melodic there's Master of Puppets, and then of course there's S&M with the symphony, etc.

Huber 10-05-2006 01:32 AM

Lars comes off as a asshole, but some things he says in the press are very well spoken.

I'm anticipating the new album greatly. St. Anger was cool aside from the production. They beefed it on the production.

I hope they write with a 7 string more \m/

Well it seems a lot of good metal bands are going for the 7 string sound lately.
(at least the ones I listen to anyway)

Maybe they could defy the trend and do 6 strings in concert (or down half-step) tunings.

I have been a notorious flamer of St. Anger, but still it has it's good qualities I guess. I am more than happy that Bob Rock was ousted. Since he has been producer, Metallica hasn't really been at the top of their game. The band's always been about playing faster and louder, yet they were going against their own standards with their newer stuff.

Chu 10-05-2006 10:50 PM

Maybe that's just the music THEY wanted to play?

I fail to see how Bob Rock really CHANGED Metallica's sound.

he was the producer, he got them the sound they had

MRDuCran 10-06-2006 12:55 AM

He also helped with the writing.
I really don't like the way the wrote the songs, I think that's why it wasn't as good as their other records. Just going into a studio with no ideas or anything and just jamming in drop C doesn't produce the best results and you can really tell by the riffs that that's what they did. They're so basic, so not Metallica. But at the same time kinda cool.

Riffing at home in E standard and bringing tonnes of ideas produces good songs. I think it'd be cool if they kept the low E string as a C and dropped the other strings so it was C standard and then play Puppets style riffs with it. Same goes for Bodom too and their next album.

Chu 10-06-2006 02:29 AM

I know with St. Anger he helped write the songs, but I don't think so with the previous 3 (ReLoad, Load and Self-titled). They're just the songs Metallica wanted to write.
