Don't get lost, I hear that they're ravenous there.
Silly punks, they have no Song Request threads. Bah.

metalmilitia101 11-01-2005 04:10 PM
Good point, I guess it could almost be considered music in that case.

P.S. I don't really have an opinion on punk, the only punk I know (Which really isn't punk), is what the media, and mainstream call punk, i.e. Greenday. \m/
in my opinion, punk has been violated! in every sense of the word. green day, blink 182, simple effing plan, any of those gay bands i call bubblegum rock/pop/power pop i dunno. terrible. punk is the stuff like the ramones and all.

i don't know what the sound will be like on the new metallica album, but i'm guessing it will sound like lots of more quietly subdued anger.

I dunno, I think it's kinda weird but the Ramones sound a lot more like pop punk compared some of the hardcore bands that I've seen. Still love 'em though. Kinda interesting how bands like the misfits influenced a heavy metal band. (Metallica for those that couldn't guess.)

Father Jack,

I went to check out to see if they had a request thread but of course they didn't. Oh well, perhaps you could try here in the R&M request thread.

Chu 11-01-2005 04:18 PM

Wait, Metallica play Metal?
This be news to me, I thought they sang Nursery Rhymes....

Sadbutrue16 11-01-2005 04:20 PM

you guys no that james threw his voice on the So fuc*ing What song? wonder if that effected his lyrics at all....

Hell that would've been better than St. Anger. /pokes fun

Even Korn pulled that one off.

wow there's been a lot of talk today.

I agree that St. Anger has some of the thrashiest guitar riffs Metallica ever had. The drums did suck and there weren't any solos, but the riffs were great.
ah but what is punk without bad singing?
Good :thumb: actually I like a bit of punk
It'd be cool if it was more thrashier but I think it'll sound more like Load.
I'm ok with less thrashy if there are solos and better vocals and drums
Nu - metal was just a fad and most of the guitarists were fans that were inspired by metallica. Metallica was trying to do new metal. Doesn't this seem a little @$$ backwards to you? A band trying to imitate ppl that they inspired.
I agree with all of your post EXCEPT the word "band." It was solely lars.

so me and this guy recorded a song today. we wrote a song back in freshman year and now we're juniors and we finally got together to record it. it sounds awesome (it's not very metal)

Father_Jack 11-01-2005 04:24 PM
you guys no that james threw his voice on the So fuc*ing What song? wonder if that effected his lyrics at all....
Surely you mean affected his vocals not lyrics. Or maybe it's some joke I aint gettin'.

Chu 11-01-2005 04:24 PM

Pffft, St. Anger is fine..

St. Anger + Better Production = Good Album

Stop your whining.
Surely you mean affected his vocals not lyrics. Or maybe it's some joke I aint gettin'.
I don't even like So What.
Pffft, St. Anger is fine..
key word. I'm hoping better next time.

Chu 11-01-2005 04:27 PM
The drums did suck and there weren't any solos, but the riffs were great.
Ahh, get over the lack-of solos, Kirk was never anything special, no big loss :smash:

Father_Jack 11-01-2005 04:27 PM
I don't even like So What.
Nah I don't think it's that special. There are definately better songs on Garage Inc.

Joe 11-01-2005 04:27 PM
Ahh, get over the lack-of solos, Kirk was never anything special, no big loss :smash:
Solos when your speed and skill isn't as great anymore > no solos
Nah I don't think it's that special. There are definately better songs on Garage Inc.
I'd say it's one of the worst on there.

I've never heard of a sore throat ruining lyrics. Damn. Gentlemen, the true reason as to why St. Anger was worse than their earlier stuff. A sore throat. j/k:lol:

Whoa dude, calm down. That was a joke for one, and for two I was just disappointed with the album. Just my own opinion.

Joe 11-01-2005 04:36 PM

Agreed. You can't say "earlier" stuff either simply because it's so much better than Load.

I also agree, I'm disappointed with it too, but I still really like it.

I do love the riffs to Dirty Window and Some Kind of Monster but that's about it.

Joe 11-01-2005 04:39 PM
I do love the riffs to Dirty Window and Some Kind of Monster but that's about it.
I like most of the riffs

/listens to the album again

wow, a lot of these are pretty similar. they're no less cool though, just kinda similar (a few of them, not all)

Father_Jack 11-01-2005 04:40 PM
I do love the riffs to Dirty Window and Some Kind of Monster but that's about it.
SKOM kinda bores me a little. Current St. Anger favs are Invisible Kid and My World.

NP - Metallica - St. Anger (rehersal)

Chu 11-01-2005 04:40 PM

Meh, I like St. Anger. The drums annoy me, but otherwise it's good.
Meh, I like St. Anger. The drums annoy me, but otherwise it's good.
 I know, you've said that about five times, Chu :p

So i'm still listening to the song I recorded this afternoon. It's really cool...

Hey I'm allowed to. I didn't write the riff.

Ok everyone, I'm off to my very last SAT prep class, see you all later tonight

But the real question here is, Chu do you like St. Anger?

Ok, I guess I can dig some of the stuff on Frantic and St. Anger as well, but as I've stated the lyrics on Frantic annoy me to where I cannot even focus on just the music.

Chu 11-01-2005 04:45 PM

Pfft. the third + is completely redundant.

Geekness++; :cool:

Edit: By the way, one last time, I enjoy St. Anger
