Juddybear 10-03-2011 09:56 PM

im intrigued

Morumbar 10-04-2011 04:00 AM

We'll see how they turn out, but it's the production and the shrieking vocals that made those albums what they are. The production on Belus and Fallen aren't really my thing, and the vocals are kind of bland.

I have never been able to find a black metal band with a particularly technical style. The closest i've heard is the band drottnar. But unfortunately their vocals are atrocious and they are a self proclaimed "unblack" metal band. Gimme fun satanic imagery or give me death. (or something that isn't or isn't relative to black metal, haha.)

im listening to it now too FUCK its so good

kitsch 10-07-2011 03:54 PM

im doing a paper on the cultural environment that help form an influence the "extreme" music scene of the nordic countries so

if yall can point me in the right direction on some first wave bm
old crust
death metal
and any other "extreme" genre
that was around in the 80s and early 90s in any of the nordic countries (demark, sweden, norway, finland)

(hate the word extreme but its the common way to characterize hardcore/bm/dm/grind/pv/crust/pe/noise)

it would be really really appreciated

also if you guys know of any existing books/articles written on black metal etc that would be cool as well.

Drugstep 10-07-2011 03:56 PM

drawing down the moon is like adb's project if it was a million times better

christsimpson 10-07-2011 03:59 PM

666 is pretty much the first black metal band. they were from Norway. formed in 1982. the corpse paint of Mercyful Fate had yet to catch on though... Mayhem were probably the first black metal band around here that did that. and yeah you probably want to check out Mercyful Fate from Denmark as well.

kitsch 10-07-2011 04:00 PM

oh shit youre from there... it would be awesome if i could ask you some questions about this stuff...

look me up on facebook via email
