I'm happy with my Ibanez RG220B, even though I hate guitars (but guitar is my only instrument) and the Floyd Rose is a high maintenance bitch.
|
Do any of you watch that INXS show on CBS?
Some pretty decent classic rock performances on there. This one chick did Get Back really well. |
Talking about Bitches Brew.... any of you guys heard any Mahavishnu Orchestra? Jazz-rock fusion at its best there i reckon. Or just other John McLaughlan stuff in general? his stuff with Paco De Lucia and AlDimeola are great if your into flamenco guitar.
DVG. |

You have to get used to it. It's fine. |

DVG.
I have Extrapolition(? is that how it's spelled?) by John McLaughlin and it's pretty good. |
You guys in this thread should check out:
http://www.dimeadozen.org It has thousands of Zeppelin, Floyd, Stones, Allman Brothers live bootlegs. DVDS and CDS. |
I have Birds of Fire and The Inner Mounting Flame, both are very cool.

I have Birds of Fire and The Inner Mounting Flame also. They're good, but I don't listen to them regularly.
|
Oh man, did I miss a CR chat?
Good ol' days. |

i have inner mounting flame, birds of fire, the lost trident sessions, between nothingness and eternity, and visions of the emerald beyond from the mahavishnu orchestra. and then the promise and devotion for his solo stuff. and love, devotion, and surrender with him and santana. and friday night in san francisco, passion, grace and fire, and the guitar trio with him, dimeola, and de lucia. hes definitely one of my favorite guitarists.

Yea, we can tell.

What a fanboy.

hey, lay off. :p

We haven't discussed Skynyrd here in a long time.
|
Skynyrd are one of those bands that I don't get the fuss about. They're an alright Southern Rock band, but I wouldn't really give them much more praise than that.
Man, I really love some jazz fusion. Bitches Brew can be too heavy at times...it's really daunting, even for a double album, which that is often true of. But if your're in the mood for it and have the time to listen to it, it's a genuinely great experience just to listen to how adventurous it is, and how you feel that they're trying something really different...McLaughlin's a great guitarist as well. Some Mahavishnu Orchestra stuff leaves me cold, but guitarists like him, Corea and DiMeola have a great feel for their instrument.
I don't listen to Skynyrd as much as I used to. But I remember they're albums always had a certain feel to them that you could also recognize and enjoy. I really liked Pronounced Leh Nerd etc (that albums a bitch to type out.) Van Zandt always sort of struck me as a pretty genuine guy and you could really see where he was coming from (not that I'm like a hick or whatever), but you know. Of course people always end up comparing them to The Allmans, and I'll admit that The Allmans had the better music/instrumentals, there was/is something about Skynyrd I really like as well. As for Jazz Fusion, I'm not a big expert or anything. I'm quite satisfied with Miles Davis and his contributions to the genre. I've actually never heard Mahavishnu Orchestra, but I've heard a lot of guitarists who are known for their Jazz Fusion. Actually I probably prefer just straight Jazz, or Free Jazz to Jazz Fusion. I'm listening to Out to Lunch right now. Killer album. |
Yep. Then again so is Good Charlotte :(. Some teenagers are more cool than others I guess.

No, "Wah-Wah", 'tard. Unless, you're being a sarcastic little bastard.
I was being a sarcastic little bastard. :p Help think of Beatles songs that use a wah! |
Side one of the album is fantasticly awesome.
|
Is it just me, or does the song "Mr. Blue Sky" sound like the Paul McCartney part of "A Day in the Life"?
|
When I heard "Mister Blue Sky", I thought it sounded a lot like the Beatles. Not a particular song though.
|
I still haven't heard Mr. Blue Sky.
|
I felt the same way, but I was listening to it again today, and the piano and the occasional panting in the background makes it sound like the Paul McCartney portion of "A Day in the Life".
