I do remember you actually, you used to post in the Bodom thread from time to time. :chug:

Looks like we might have to end up using programmed drums at this rate. :(

Lionheart1827 09-19-2006 04:15 AM

I'm gonna try and record some stuff in the next few days, but I college work is starting to pile up, so I dont know how much free time I'm gonna have.

Here's a few samples of my current tone.

The God That Failed.
Very nice! I'm guessing you have a POD. :chug:
Nice observation! I got a great patch called DT Rhythm, probably modelled after Petrucci's tone. It sounds a lot like Black Albums style tone.:thumb:

MRDuCran 09-19-2006 07:20 AM

Well it definitely sounds good, much better than mine (which isn't suprising).

:thumb:

Jev 09-19-2006 10:19 AM

I should really get a POD.

My marshall is pretty crap...

\m/Pete\m/ 09-19-2006 12:03 PM

Nice sound, it sounds like one of my amps' channels. weird you had no remorse up there because i was just going to learn that song

Yeah the No Remorse clip was done with my Agile with stock "meh" pickups, the top 2 were done with my Viper Deluxe with EMG 81s.:thumb:

man i wish my emgs were in my new guitar...i love them
man i wish my emgs were in my new guitar...i love them
Damn, now I really want to help you guys, but still no recording gear.

I just bought a new Ibanez RG2EX1 guitar with a wizard II neck and emg pickups (cheap stock ones, but they still sound like HZ H4's). My ability to shred has dramatically increased since I bought this guitar, and I've had a major urge to do a cover of MoP.

Damn my inability to get with the times.

Chu 09-19-2006 09:47 PM

Metallica is in the studio.

:naughty:
Metallica is in the studio.

:naughty:
how do you know that?

Chu 09-19-2006 10:52 PM

There were some pictures posted of them in the studio, and some commentary to go with it. No news if they're recording, but if you take what Kirk said a few months back (They're pumping out 3/4 songs a week), I think they should be recording...

So should we...lol

man, you people must be annoyed at me going on all the time.
hey :)

Yeah, and it'd need to be a good one too 'cause those cheap pc mics that most people use would make it sound horrible. Huber's should should awesome.

Huber 09-20-2006 03:03 AM

I'm a busy guy, sorry I flaked guys.

I have the equipment to record good sounding stuff, I just don't have the time :/

I wish I did, I really like these interenet cover band things.

Jred250 09-20-2006 05:23 AM

Ok, I am back with a fully recovered spine & Neck! I will get on recording some stuff later today

Pickles 09-20-2006 09:08 PM

Has anyone seen that song on LimeWire called Chains of Pain? It's saying that it's a Metallica song. I downloaded it and it has Metallica riffage style but the vocals don't sound Hetfield-ish. I know that they said that they were doing a new vocal style but I don't think Hetfield would do coming like that (very gruff, almost to a screaming point).

Fake.

I remember before St Anger came out there was TONS of these fake songs. Some were good, some were bad.

One of the best ones I heard was called "Gone With You" by a band called Am I Blood. The guy sounded a lot like Hetfield during the Load/ReLoad/S&M days with a Black album type gruff when he sang loud. The song sounded like a Black Album type song. If anybody wants it let me know.:thumb:

Huber 09-20-2006 10:07 PM

Hm...Hetfield screaming. That'd be interesting. Screaming is something that hasn't been a huge deal in heavy music during the majority of there era, Metallica giving it a try would be interesting.

Hetfield used to scream back in the old days, which developed into a growl, then he blew his voice during the Black Album tours unfortunately. He also tried to scream during St Anger, but we all know how that turned out. :(

I don't know about you guys, but I wouldn't consider Hetfields raspy vocals screams.

Kill Em' All is as close as it ever got.

\m/Pete\m/ 09-21-2006 11:33 PM

yeah i wouldnt know what to call his vocal style...bad *** maybe? i love his voice, especially that "little boy you're going to hell" song they did for the south park movie. Its too bad that he's more or less losing his voice.

oh and have you guys picked the songs yet to be covered?

MrSigma 09-21-2006 11:36 PM

dude they still kick ***. the vocals are amazeing in this new tallica vid

We're not really picking songs. You record whatever you want.

It's been pointed out, it's not working how we're doing it (People choose their own song to cover), so maybe we should just make a list of songs

MrSigma, are you joking?

MrSigma 09-21-2006 11:45 PM

yeah

aic are fads now. why did they start back up without layne

Chu 09-21-2006 11:51 PM

Dude, the world still goes around.

Maybe they had fun in AIC, when Layne died, there was some cooling room needed so they could all get their heads back on track, they're together again, is that not enough?

They're having fun, of course it's not going to be the same music, but is it ever? Even if Layne was still alive, would they be writing the same music? I think they'd be experimenting just as much as they are now.

You have a very selfish view of things.. Not trying to offend you, it's just, you post some pretty stupid things sometimes dude.

oh well im just now starting to get back into "posting mode" here so bear with me.

and i think that if there was a set list so to speak it would be a lot easier. like 10 songs get chosen and the users who do the best takes on their respective instrument gets the part

Chu 09-21-2006 11:58 PM

That's the thing, we're planning on roughly one song from every album...

You record a song, if it's good, we'll compare it with other songs, if you get someone else to play a track for you, it would be very difficult for us to not include it :)

Even if you're recording equiptment isn't the best, it's just about having fun, doing what some of us love best (Playing music).

Lionheart1827 09-22-2006 12:04 AM

Well, I would love to do Blackened, The God That Failed, maybe Battery, AJFA, maybe No Remorse, RTL, maybe Creeping Death, and maybe Trapped Under Ice. I would love to do rhythm tracks for any of those. I'm not too consistent with soloing and if I did lead work for the songs, a lot of it would be improvised.

So there is some songs to ponder about.

\m/Pete\m/ 09-22-2006 12:04 AM

oh i see, well i hope to enter this so i'll go out and buy another adapter for my computer. what are you planning on doing chu?

Chu 09-22-2006 12:08 AM

AJFA, Battery, maybe Creeping Death (Although Escape, anyone?)...

I dunno, if someone (MRDuCran tbh) posts a song I like :p, I'll see if I can supply a rhythm or something.

Edit: I got 2 weeks holidays atm, expect a recording from me soon :thumb:

You can drill me if I don't post one, but I'll try.

MrSigma 09-22-2006 12:11 AM

lol ill record that **** by next week i just keep forgetting to see if i can use that recording stuff

it'll kick ***

Chu 09-22-2006 12:13 AM

That'd be awesome man..

My brother's snare skin split yesterday :smash:

\m/Pete\m/ 09-22-2006 12:13 AM

hey i'll second escape man, but my pick from RTL would be Fight Fire with Fire hands down.

i kinda wish i didnt play guitar though since there's gonna be an ass load of guitarist throwin down

Chu 09-22-2006 12:16 AM

That's why I don't wanna do a list...

I'd go Fight Fire, sick song.

Surprisingly, there hasn't been a lot of attention yet, MRDuCran posted his Lead track for Enter Sandman a few pages back, if someone would do rhythm?
