Zildjian 05-29-2006 06:57 PM
Does it show a folder with an exclamation mark on it? Mine used to do that, i put the hold on and kept slowly flipping it, it would eventually find it. If it's the sad iPod i jus tkept banging mine. Now i'm selling it on eBay.
Mine has the dead face...I ordered a full replacment of it. Maybe il get a new cool color screen one instead of the blacklight

im researching building my own kit, not from scratch though. using keller maple shells. i had some questions but i didnt want to start a new thread so i figured id ask you guys here.

is a D.S.S. mount good. its a suspension mount, and would it be compatible with a gibraltar tom mount?

i was looking in to maple hoops and it mentioned optional inlay grooves, im curious as to what these are, i dont understand.

im also not sure how to get the length for the tension rods. does it depend on the installation of them? or do i need a specific length?

do you think it would even be worth, any of you with experience in this?

do i need an eyelet for every hole in each lug?

i also need to buy grommets right?
how does the size/depth of the drum effect where place the lug?(asking to determine final price).

also how do the lugs go in, and be stuck into the drum?

Double Bass Jim 05-29-2006 09:29 PM

PT is a great band too, another rarity in todays music

Symphony X has a new album coming out too! CAN'T WAIT!

Quinto 05-29-2006 09:30 PM

if you ask me coheed and cambria is a pretty great band. many disagree with their singing though

Futuro 05-29-2006 09:36 PM
if you ask me coheed and cambria is a pretty great band. many disagree with their singing though
Im not sure about them, kinda 50/50 They sound alot like the rest of the modern rock world. But I do think they are better than say papa roach.

Also they deserve a hand clap for putting 5 minutes of guitar solo in a 6 minute song, and getting MTV to play it.

Double Bass Jim 05-29-2006 09:39 PM

Sounds like crap to me

Quinto 05-29-2006 09:42 PM

theyre on and off^. some songs are really like new, and then others are just the same old thing.

theres a band that i heard practicing, my friends brothers band, and theyre great. theyre going places. theyve got this cream/led zeppelin/ratm/ragae(sp?). and theres drummers got this ringo/bonham/rudd thing going on.

Rofl yeah.
theyre on and off^. some songs are really like new, and then others are just the same old thing.
What song has the long solo?

Double Bass Jim 05-29-2006 09:46 PM

I bet the solos horrible too hahah

Slayer style just get down to the 24th fret and flap your fingers around as fast as you can. And make sure your cranked so its muddy enough were you can't hear the mistakes... Just lots of noise that changes in pitch from high to super high.

Futuro 05-29-2006 09:56 PM

Whenever I need to listen to great solo I just throw on Singularity

Not really technical, But oh how that light wah makes me happy :naughty:

Double Bass Jim 05-29-2006 09:58 PM

I was just listening to Wreath, that solo in the middle of that song is perfect. Really lines up GREAT. Right at about 5mins in KILLER solo.

Futuro 05-29-2006 10:04 PM

That solo is great, I love how those real quiet notes ring out after the solo (Closer to the riff where the vocals come in again)

Double Bass Jim 05-29-2006 10:07 PM

They have some of the best solos, really tasty stuff.

Like blackwater park  damn thats a good one.

The rhythm behind it really makes it great so friggin heavy

um, great use of opposite styles, that doesn't tell me anything about this band.

Cream and Zep have really nothing in common with RATM, and there might be some Reggae influenced Zep tunes, but not much.

And Ringo, Bonham, and Rudd are different types of drummers. Ringo's the cool drummer, Bonham is a somewhat technical drummer, and Rudd is boring as all hell.

I dislike ringo. Rather boring if you ask me.

On Bonham, I went to see Led Zepllica (a Zep tribute band) a couple weeks ago and they were very impressive. All except for the drummer, who was a great player but a fan underneath his set so that his hair would blow everywhere. Every time I looked at him I couldnt help but laugh.

Solos don't need to be technical to be great. Just listen to anything David Gilmour did. Yeah, those solos might not be fast or full of technique, but damn, they sound beautiful.

puppet.master 05-30-2006 12:04 AM

wooht

i just bought ten pairs of sticks and 4 thick plastic cymbal sleves for a totall of 20 bucks
