Where have you been?!

I just watched "Gimme Shelter". It was intense. The whole time while the Hell's Angels were beating people was just nuts, I mean the look on Jagger's face was so serious while he was singing. They showed the guy getting stabbed too. The whole thing was nuts, but it was a great rock documentary.

Dr. Killgreedy 08-01-2005 10:02 PM

the HA's did their part but the stones weren't going to do theirs so that's why they had all those problems. yea it was intense. the guy that got stabbed deserved it too. btw support your local 81. florida chapter.

magicbus 08-01-2005 10:05 PM
i agree completely with your thinking that there might be a revival. i just turned 17 last week, and for the last year or 2 I've only been listening to Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Hendrix, The Who, Clapton, pretty much everything you mentioned. glad to see its not just me. except my parents probably think i'm on drugs, but its cool.
This was my first post in this thread. It was on page 45, that's over 1500 pages ago

I skimmed through it. From what I gather the hard rock whores cut out your internal organs and sold them on the black market.

hehe, i don't have that much time on my hands....well ok i do, but i'm not nearly patient enough.

heavy metal kid 08-02-2005 12:47 AM

so, i really don't know if this is the right thread to discuss some hendrix issues, but i don't wanna make a thread about it so, i just saw in the news some info of his life.

he lie about his sexual orientation to avoid the army, imo this it's a smart decision, the hostile situation of that time could kill jimi and his guitar distorsion, before they were exposed to the world.

Drugstep 08-02-2005 12:50 AM

Gay people couldn't get into the army back then?

I thought Hendrix was in the army at one time...

heavy metal kid 08-02-2005 12:54 AM
Gay people couldn't get into the army back then?
nope, the discrimination back then was inmense.

Seafroggys 08-02-2005 01:16 AM

Its still bad. Isn't there a don't ask don't tell policy, to protect gays from being booted from the army?

Illmatic 08-02-2005 01:18 AM

Yeah, but it wasn't implemented until fairly recently, I believe.

Drugstep 08-02-2005 04:42 AM

I think that's more to the advantage of gays than against them. I mean, how many people really want to be in the army?

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 08-02-2005 06:01 AM

Back then that's how everyone doged the draft and army.
i wanna find my first post in this thread, but don't want to go hunting....
I found it but I didn't think you important enough to quote. :p

Kidding but I did find it. Page 45 I think.

Woodstock 08-02-2005 08:55 AM

Hey Schyma, I was going to find my first post anyways. You didn't need to pwn me while I was away... (and yes Django owns)

ATTN-Slug: Karma Police is a blatant ripoff of the Beatles' Sexy Sadie. But the rest of OK Computer is fine.

magicbus 08-02-2005 09:05 AM

Hendrix was in the army for a little while, but I don't think he went to Vietnam. This is probably where the gay thing came in.

I do know that Jim Morrison also pretended to be gay, so he was never in the army at all.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 08-02-2005 09:15 AM

Woodstock: You're not the only one. ;)

OK Computer is a freaking great album.

magicbus 08-02-2005 09:20 AM

I just listened to Sexy Sadie, and the piano riff right after the first "you made a fool of everyone" does sound like the part from Karma Police.

But then again the lyrics seem to be exactly the same from a recent Jet song. Now if you ask me, that is a blatant ripoff.

EDIT: And I like OK Computer a lot. My favorite song happens to be Karma Police.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 08-02-2005 10:11 AM

It's getting late. I'm going to head off for bed. Good night MX.
