Cool. What other members do you plan on adding?

Ze Capital album is nearing completion. It's taking a bit longer than we were hoping, but it'll be done soon. I'm very curious how it will be received.

BenJammin 07-04-2009 10:30 AM

We need a drummer, which we might have, a synth player, and potentially a second guitarist.
We need a drummer, which we might have, a synth player, and potentially a second guitarist.
I see. You guys are planning on playing live, I guess?

We could definitely use a second guitarist and a keyboard player, and if the keyboard player couldn't handle the duties, a synth player. Until then, our live show should be interesting with us sharing these additional duties.

BenJammin 07-04-2009 11:13 AM

Yeah, playing live is the plan. We've got a year off, so we want to make the most of it, musically. We're not really in a position to be able to pull our songs off without a couple more members. The second guitarist might not be necessary, but it would probably help.

Spaceman Spiff 07-04-2009 11:19 AM

Good stuff. Have you been looking for any other members yet?

BenJammin 07-04-2009 11:58 AM

Not yet, really. We want to get a half dozen songs or so done first. We've got someone who might be interested in playing drums for us, though, which is a plus. Drummers are hard as hell to find around here.

Cramboli 07-04-2009 09:51 PM

Drummers are hard as hell to find alot of places man... In my travels I've only come across 8-ish in about a few years, ranging from god awful to tight as **** it's a pain in the *** but it's worth it when you find that one (or two) drummers with a click...

funkyhoney 07-05-2009 04:06 AM

Drummers are a dime a dozen, good drummers are as rare as warmth from a Vietnamese prostitute.

Epidemechanical 07-05-2009 07:02 AM

thats pretty true FH

lotta idiots i see at college walking around with drumsticks like wtf seriously what do you use them to clean your ears or something leave that **** at home

BenJammin 07-05-2009 09:03 AM

Really? We don't even have an abundance of crap drummers. We just don't have many drummers, period.

m-dirnt_fan101 07-05-2009 10:36 AM

same with our church...four bass players, three guitarists, about ten singers, and one drummer:mad:

BenJammin 07-05-2009 10:44 AM

Drummers have better things to do than go to church, clearly.

karmapavementplan 07-05-2009 11:09 AM

Taking up the drums is bloody expensive. You can learn the guitar or bass with like £50 for a bass and access to mxtabs.

Yeah but I know some people who are natural drummers but can't play bass or guitar at all and still can't afford to keep a kit... But yeah it's practically impossible to find a drummer that isn't a posing wannabe...
lotta idiots i see at college walking around with drumsticks like wtf seriously what do you use them to clean your ears or something leave that **** at home
The amount of people I see do this that can't even play drums but supposedly have been for years or "Forever"...

fuck I'm bored.

BenJammin 07-05-2009 08:19 PM

Guys, I'm so bored I started a Twitter account.

wtf.

funkyhoney 07-05-2009 08:53 PM

BenJammin is sitting on mx being bored.

Wow, I didn't realise twitter was so interesting!

It's not.

funkyhoney 07-05-2009 09:07 PM

I know, I was being facetious.

m-dirnt_fan101 07-05-2009 09:55 PM

bought a chili pepper strap for my bass today

its white with a bunch of peppers all over it...and some are on fire:D

FunkMetalBass 07-06-2009 12:58 AM

You know, I've never really noticed the straps people use on stage. I just presume they're usually solid black.

funkyhoney 07-06-2009 06:45 AM

I use a leather Fender one I stole from a recording studio.

rh15951 07-06-2009 10:11 AM

Levy's: 1 plain black and 1 military style that I somehow got for free :smoke:

FunkMetalBass 07-06-2009 10:18 AM

I use some 4" leather strap most of the time, but my 'Ray has the DiMarzio locking strap thingamajigger.

I have a 2" Levy's strap with some sweet tribal ying-yang pattern on it, but I only use it with my Carvin because the other basses (my 8-string and Schecter - which looks better with the brown leather anyway) are too heavy for it.

karmapavementplan 07-06-2009 10:56 AM

I use a fake leather one. I have to so it grips my shirt - heavy thunderbird head is heavy.

BenJammin 07-06-2009 11:21 AM

I've got a 3" Levy's one. Fake suede, I think. Helps to balance the weight of my bass. I'd like a bigger one, but I don't want to spend the money.

karmapavementplan 07-06-2009 11:40 AM

I can't really see what difference a pricey strap would make. I mean fake suede it probably just as good as genuine leather, only less pretentious.

BenJammin 07-06-2009 12:06 PM

I don't care about the material. I just want a wider one.

People swear that the big leather ones are more comfortable, but meh.

Mr. Jiggy Fly 07-06-2009 12:14 PM

Hello friends!

So, I come to MX with a quick question:

I am considering trading my Modulus Flea 5 (my only fretted bass) for a 1967 Guild Starfire hollowbody. What do you guys think?

BenJammin 07-06-2009 12:26 PM

Pics of the Starfire?

Really, it comes down to if you like the tone and feel of the Starfire more. I think the old Guild hollowbodies are cool, and harder to find than the Modulus, so I'd be inclined to go that way.

Check out the dedicated thread :)

And yes, I am meeting with him today. I haven't played it yet, but I'll keep you posted. I'm just nervous that i'll regret getting rid of my workhorse. I've had it since I was, like, 14.

Install a ramp on your mod flea to improve playability.

Then we can all laugh at you.

And Raayl and do his patented "ramps look **** and do ****" rant.

It's playability is fine just the way it is ;)

I don't want to rag on anyone, but sometimes I find the mods that people do just ridiculous. "Gary Willis does it so it must be epic win."

My Mod is stock and works great for me. I must not be cool enough :/

karmapavementplan 07-06-2009 12:35 PM

Most mods are wank. If you pay a decent price you shouldn't need to waste time on mods. Ramps are faggy, but I love it when some poor, naive chap posts an "I'm thinking of putting a ramp on my bass" thread and everyone just jumps on them with 100 reasons why ramps are faggy and ultimately they get the hump and never come back to the board.

I couldn't agree more with the "most mods are wank" statement. I just don't get it. I mean, upgrading your stock pickups to Barts is on thing. Putting a ramp and a trem on a MIM Jazz is another.

I guess the whole "spending money makes your happy" theory is alive and well.

BenJammin 07-06-2009 12:42 PM

Much easier to just buy an expensive bass, instead. :p

karmapavementplan 07-06-2009 12:44 PM

Bass maintenance is a happy way to fill an afternoon. Maybe it's like that when you can't be arsed to do your intonation, but want something to do.

Word to your mother.

Are we still doing any of those? I've been gone awhile :P

BenJammin 07-06-2009 12:50 PM

I think 123 is as old as the internet. Or at least as old as message boards that have a 3 character minimum for posting.
