The Trial + Sleep = AHHHHHH!!!
That'll mess you up. Don't fall asleep during any Floyd is a good policy.

rippa32 01-26-2007 11:53 PM

Ive never falling asleep while listening to music. Does it affect your dreams that much?

Jim 01-27-2007 12:03 AM

Yeah, listening to announcers on the radio is even stranger. I always dream about them in the studio talking into the microphones

However, after taking it into consideration, The Trial would severely "f'uck you up", as they say.

Leper 01-27-2007 12:22 AM

I remember having a dream while listening to Metallica's "The Memory Remains" for the first time. In the dream I walked into my mom's bedroom and she told me it was satan singing. lol it was pretty creepy.

Jim 01-27-2007 12:37 AM

Yeah, Patti Smith for the creepy win =/

Danger Bird 01-27-2007 12:39 AM

Music never makes me dream. I hardly ever dream.

:upset:

When I do dream though, it's usually pretty cool. Like once I dreamed I was really intolerant of other people's religions, so this big white Chinese dragon came to teach me to be more tolerant. But instead we just hung out on the couch and watched TV.

And once my dream was basically like a big drug trip, I dreamed I was swimming around inside an orange.

What thread is this again?

Jim 01-27-2007 12:47 AM

The Pink Floyd thread. So basically, anecdotes about drug-induced trip-outs are welcome.

:smoke:

Every so often, yes.

I need to make some money so I can buy Ummagumma. I decided I'll just borrow Atom Heart Mother and The Division Bell From my friends.

AHM and TDB, are 2 of the greatest PF albums! Way better than stuff like Animals ...

Yield 01-27-2007 10:34 AM

I don't think that they'll end up being better than Animals. Animals is my favorite :D

Danger Bird 01-27-2007 10:56 AM

Ummagumma>everything

Leper 01-27-2007 02:38 PM
Ummagumma>everything
Mehh...Why all the Animals hatred lately?

Jim 01-31-2007 12:32 AM

Here's some Animals love :)

I bought a nice Animals t-shirt at the Big Day Out on sunday. Wearing it when I see Roger tomorrow :thumb:

ghettoeddo 01-31-2007 12:37 AM

cuz its cliche to like animals

Jim 01-31-2007 12:53 AM

You are right. I terminate my doting affection for Animals as of now, on account of the fact that it is a tired cliche!

DSOTM to the top ;D

Leper 01-31-2007 03:27 PM
cuz its cliche to like animals
It's equally as cliche to like Pink Floyd...

Yield 01-31-2007 04:09 PM
cuz its cliche to like animals
Only for Pink Floyd fans.

rippa32 01-31-2007 07:05 PM

Who cares how cliche it is? If you like it you like it, simple.

BludgeonySteve 01-31-2007 07:26 PM
cuz its cliche to like animals
What the hell is this backwards crap?
Who cares how cliche it is? If you like it you like it, simple.
Exactly. As I've said before, Animals is my favorite. I don't know why it's a cliche to say that though. I would think it's cliche to like The Wall or DSOTM

MattSharpIsCool 01-31-2007 08:56 PM

Guys, the radio station here is playing Pigs (Three Different Ones) right now, as I'm typing this. I've never heard this song on the radio before, I'm excited.

Jude 01-31-2007 08:58 PM

Pink Floyd has given me some weird dreams falling asleep to it. I fell asleep to Us and Them and in my dream I was in this weird place with two sort of elevated places looking down on a dark blue maze where people were fighting each other.

Montana 01-31-2007 09:02 PM

I can't remember any weird dreams from listening to Pink FLoyd but one time my best friend and I layed in her bed under her blacklight and using hand gestures and facial expressions we acted The Wall while listening to it.

rippa32 01-31-2007 10:45 PM

So with all this dream stuff, do you play through headphones? I would find that uncomfortable and without could annoy some people..

ghettoeddo 01-31-2007 10:48 PM

that's pretty messed up...while sober anyway.
idk i would never do that while completely uninebriated

Montana 01-31-2007 10:54 PM

yeah, I want to say we were high but I don't think we were. We were both like 14 when we did that and we lived in Wyoming.

It seemed really funny at the time but I think I've successfully repressed most of that memory.

ghettoeddo 01-31-2007 11:02 PM

high at 14..wow

i didnt even touch that sshit till i was 17

MattSharpIsCool 01-31-2007 11:20 PM

I think that's how old I was my first time, maybe just before I turned 17.

I dont usually listen to music when I've been smoking, but thats because I never smoke by myself. Me and my friends usually play music, instead of listen to it.

Danger Bird 01-31-2007 11:38 PM

I think my first time smoking weed was the summer before 9th grade. So I was... 14? I think 14. Playing music while smoking is pretty cool, but it's better if you're only like half-stoned. If you're totally baked it doesn't really work.
So with all this dream stuff, do you play through headphones? I would find that uncomfortable and without could annoy some people..
I have a long speaker wire running all the way around my room from my receiver to a 4-inch speaker I've got right next to my pillow. I have to switch it to mono, but when I get some more speaker wire I'll probably do it in stereo. That's be wicked wasome.

I just realized how sweet my stereo is. I've got my nice turntable, a 300 dollar CD deck that I found in the garbage at school, an NAD tape deck, and I've got my computer running into the AUX so I can tape mp3s and listen to music or watch movies from my bed without waking the whole house up.

MattSharpIsCool 02-01-2007 01:19 AM

That's freaking awesome. I've got a decent setup, with some decent speakers, but I still havent brought that stuff inside after I moved back, so it's all out in the garage.

When I lived in my apartment, I'd always be blasting Floyd after I got home from work. I'm gonna get my record player hooked up to my speakers once I find another place and listen to all my stuff. It will be grand.

rippa32 02-01-2007 04:16 AM

All my stuff is borrowed from my parents. Im even taking it with me when I move out. They will get it back there just not in any rush for the moment.

As for weed, Im 18 and I have never done it. And proud of it.

Yield 02-01-2007 09:42 AM
As for weed, Im 18 and I have never done it. And proud of it.
Yeah, I'm not doing any drugs, don't want to. As for the headphones question, I sleep with headphones and it isn't that bad, unless I pass out while listening to music and then my headphones are on all night. Then it hurts when I take them off in the morning because my headphones are the kind that wrap around you ears.

My stereo is pretty good. I stole it from my mom, but she doesn't use it and she let me have it.

ghettoeddo 02-01-2007 10:56 AM

i've come to believe that weed isn't a drug.

but i think we've come back to discussing drugs rather than pink floyd and i apologize for that haha

Leper 02-01-2007 12:42 PM
i've come to believe that weed isn't a drug.

Agreed.

I saw this weird video on youtube the other day called "Syd Barrett's first psychedelic trip." Has anyone else seen it? It's really weird and...seemingly pointless.

Surf 02-01-2007 12:42 PM

In terms of falling asleep to Floyd; I've fallen asleep to The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking (Waters solo record, so there's a loose Floyd connection) which was really interesting, as the whole album is structured like a dream, so listening to it takes you over the course of the narrative in one 'night': really cool even if its not that great an album.

Yield 02-01-2007 12:52 PM
Agreed.

Yeah, I saw that. I thought it made know sense, so I stopped watching it.

Yield 02-01-2007 05:16 PM

I've been thinking of getting a Roger Waters album, any suggestions?

rippa32 02-01-2007 07:45 PM

Actually thats a good question, is his solo stuff anything like The Final Cut? If it is I wouldn't get any.

MattSharpIsCool 02-01-2007 07:55 PM

Most of it is nothing like the Final Cut...I'd say it more closely resembles The Wall, due to his solo stuff being freaking weird. I don't really know how to explain it other than weird. The songs are really in your face most of the time.

The lyrics could be more comparable to the Final Cut I guess.

Surf 02-01-2007 08:37 PM

Amused to Death

I rank it as high as WYWH, which is my favourite floyd.

Someone will probably disagree. I know alot of people don't like his solo stuff at all (Riva I think) but I like it.

Of the other two albums, Radio K.A.O.S. is probably next, followed by Pros and Cons... but there's lots of odds and sods on sound tracks and stuff.
