Mick looks super-ugly in that pic.

the101er 07-12-2005 09:52 AM

did mick sing lead on one of the songs on The Clash? i was listening and it sounds like him on one of the songs?

Daniel! 07-12-2005 10:38 AM

He sings lead on quite a few songs actually.

guns_of_brixton 07-12-2005 10:51 AM

Hate and War and Jail Guitar Doors, unless you count Remote Control.

BostonBound988 07-12-2005 10:55 AM

He also has a new band Big Audio Dynamite. They're really good.

BostonBound988 07-12-2005 10:57 AM
Who's seen the documentary Westway to the World? Cool movie. Very insightful.
That movie is amazing. I like the part when they were shooting the birds with shotguns, and come to find out they were an extremely expensive breed. Their owner wasn't too happy.

But yeah i really enjoy my movie, let my teacher borrow it, I still don't have it back. I don't know if I ever will...

guns_of_brixton 07-12-2005 11:01 AM

I'm not sure if they said it in the movie but the bird shooting made them write Guns on the Roof.

My favorite part is when they play the Guns of Brixton at Bond's in NYC and you see Joe playing bass.

Forest_Fire 07-12-2005 11:03 AM

:upset:

I still haven't seen it.

Mick sang on Stay Free (I think it was that one)
Mick looks super-ugly in that pic.
He looks like his face is rotting

Silvermedalmafia 07-12-2005 02:36 PM

Mick always looks ugly, he can't help it.

CombatRock 07-12-2005 02:37 PM

him and topper are the ugliest in the band. but paul on the other hand...

Forest_Fire 07-12-2005 02:40 PM

On the "Punk:Attitude" documentary, one lady said she didn't think paul was in the band at first becuase he was "too handsome"

And they interviwed Mick for it. It was horribly ugly

BostonBound988 07-12-2005 02:40 PM

I will. I love the clash, and Joe Strummer. Just hadn't checked into this thread before.

CombatRock 07-12-2005 02:54 PM

hottness wise

paul > joe > mick > topper, some pictures of mick are good.

i didnt know you liked the clash evan, you like DKMS covers?

Coma_Girl 07-12-2005 03:21 PM

They all had their moments of hotness. For Joe, it was after he got his teeth fixed.

I've found this yesterday, and it's quite interesting.
http://www.revolutionrock.co.uk/

and my favorite part of westway to the world is when they play complete control live, and the crowd sing along. (2 pages late)

CombatRock 07-12-2005 03:25 PM

joes teeth are messed up cos hes brittish common. sorry to the brits here.

CombatRock 07-12-2005 04:52 PM

do you own streetcore?

guns_of_brixton 07-12-2005 05:01 PM

I ordered it and its coming in tomorrow, but I know all of the songs since its on my other computer.

And I believe Tymon Dogg from the Meskies played some instruments on Sandinista.

CombatRock 07-12-2005 05:32 PM

what instruments did he play, and please tell me Dogg is his real last name, cos if its not its really gay.

guns_of_brixton 07-12-2005 07:45 PM

Its really his last name... and I think he played violin on Junco Partner.

BostonBound988 07-12-2005 09:26 PM

Oh man, you have triggered my DKM knowledge. I hate when I have to do this...

Ken Casey learned bass to play in this band(or very close before they started) and he learned by playing along to the clash record. So at practice, when deciding what songs to play, they would all say "what songs can Ken play, cause he's the worst!" and since Ken learned by playing along to the Clash, he could play those songs. They started off doing a bunch of covers, but I forget what their original name was.

More proof I'm a DKM geek.

CombatRock 07-12-2005 10:57 PM

thats awesome i didnt know Ken was a big Clash fan, i knew Marc was since he is always wearing Clash shirts. thanks for that bit of knowledge.

BostonBound988 07-12-2005 11:07 PM
thats awesome i didnt know Ken was a big Clash fan, i knew Marc was since he is always wearing Clash shirts. thanks for that bit of knowledge.
Honestly, I'm sure they're all Clash fans. Ken is also a huge Green Day fan.

CombatRock 07-12-2005 11:10 PM

i would have never thought greenday, DKM makes greenday look pathetic. DKM has coverd Guns of Brixton, Carrear Opprotuntes and White Riot anything esle?

BostonBound988 07-12-2005 11:17 PM

That's it, well at least on record.

On the singles collection they also cover "I've Had Enough" by Slapshot, and that song is on a tribute comp, which my friends band is also on.

CombatRock 07-12-2005 11:45 PM

you and your Boston. in the times you seen DKM did they ever say anythign about the clash or cover a song by them?

BostonBound988 07-12-2005 11:47 PM

No. But I'm going to bed now. Its almost 2 AM here.

CombatRock 07-12-2005 11:54 PM
Its really his last name... and I think he played violin on Junco Partner.
thanks for sending me JP again, i love that song, exept the beginning with that werid noise.

guns_of_brixton 07-13-2005 10:21 AM

I have like 5 other versions of Junco Parter on my computer that I can upload if ya want, but I've heard YSI hasn't been working right.

James Booker (original guy who did it)

Mescaleros (live version, f'ucking awesome with great sound quality, Joe changed some lyrics, I love it)

Mescaleros (not as good sound quality)

101ers (s'hitty sound quality, maybe still worth a listen)

El Clash Combo (live, pretty good, Joe sounds awesome)

CombatRock 07-13-2005 12:36 PM

all of those are Junco Partner? do you have the song that is on the beginning of Essential Clash DVD, you know when there driving in the caddy?

Coma_Girl 07-13-2005 01:03 PM
I just bought Global a Go-Go, I should've got it a while ago. Its a great album.
I love the song that goes "well, i was walking down the highroad and this guy stopped me"

and "if you really wanna go, you'll get there in the end"
(i dont remember the titles)

and the video for Johnny Appleseed is great. Not as great as Redemption Song, but you should watch it.
what instruments did he play, and please tell me Dogg is his real last name, cos if its not its really gay.
Tymon Dogg was a good friend of Joe way before he was in the mescaleros. He officially joined the band after their semi-secret gig at the 100 club, before they went on tour supporting The Who.

Brain Toad 07-15-2005 12:14 AM
