Hey all, I am looking for a pair of hats used for funk and rock. What would be the best? A custom hihats? New beats?

HeLLmO 06-24-2006 09:51 AM

AAX Stage would be good, Zildjian Quick beats would work(they OWN new beats), AAX Fusion might be good, Istanbul Trad Funk hats would definatly work for funk

Chester 06-24-2006 05:24 PM

yes! i love those quick beats.
You gave pretty much all the suggestions i was going to give, look into those.

We_Love_Lime 06-24-2006 05:31 PM

Yep.

Those Sizzle Hats are pretty tight as well.

MXicanDrummer 06-25-2006 03:29 PM

i'm looking into getting a Sabian 21" AA Rock Ride. I play rock and punk and I really liked the sound of it when I tried it out. Any thoughts?

Inpropagation 06-25-2006 08:15 PM

This is lame, the HHX groove hats are 360 ****in dollars.

Anyone know any hats like them with a smaller price tag?

MeaninglessPhoto 06-25-2006 10:08 PM

Im looking for a china with a lot of sizzle in it. Ive looked at Zildjian Swish and Swish knockers but I dont like the price tags. I dont care what brand name it is.

Buybuybuybuybuybuybuy.

I played one of those at guitar center a few days back, it sounds amazing. It was versatile, as I was playing on a 9 piece DW with the most percussion I've ever seen in my life, and it sounded great with everything.

Definitely go for it man.

Hey Chester what town do you live in?

Retarded Chipple 06-26-2006 03:10 PM

Ok I have a 16" AAXplosion crash. I dunno whether to get an 18" or a 19" Xplosion to go with it! Any ideas/suggestions?

HeLLmO 06-26-2006 06:05 PM

doesn't really matter, 18'' will probably be more versitile, i would just get both

MXicanDrummer 06-26-2006 06:20 PM

God those crashes are amazing!

Edit: I have a 16" and an 18" and they compliment each other very well.

im not good with describing cymbals, but im looking for a pair of hats. I want them to be a distinct hi pitched tick when tapping them closed. Not a lose sloshy deep sound like you get with cheaper hats. Hi pitched resonation sound when opened. and a quit sounding click when pressing the pedal. Overall high pitched and very smooth sounding. between 200-400 dollars is my limit. thanks to any help i recieve

HeLLmO 06-27-2006 02:03 PM

Chester 06-27-2006 03:55 PM

We_Love_Lime 06-27-2006 05:27 PM

Lp Salsa Cow Bells?

Plan B has them. Or something.

Black Beautys. Ridge(?) Riders ( the one with the plastic thing ).

Static 06-28-2006 01:48 PM

I'm so in the club.

Okay, so I got the 14" Stage Hats, and I'm returning them.

14" Vault Vs. 13" K Vs. 13"/14" Quick Beats.

Gogogogogogogo.

umm....damn.....uhh......well......get the vaults and the quick beats.....then give me the quick beats.

if i had to have 2 of the 3, it would be the 18 and the 19...but i like my crashes to have the same relative decay :(

I don't like New Beats, myself, every pair I've tried just hasn't appealed to me.

Those Signature SoundEdges though, now that's a whole different story. I'd kill for a pair of those.
AA Regulars, maybe AAX Stage, Quick Beats
I have Reg. AA over Rock AA and it sounds good, so I would guess regulars would sound good, never heard the others in real life.

they're pretty good, the 15'' version of reg. AAs are by far the best

Chris 06-29-2006 02:20 PM

What are people thoughts on Paiste's Dark Energy Ride Mark I rides?

I ask as im still after a ride, and love the sound of Abe Laboriel Jr (Paul McCartney's drummer) ride. So at the moment, it is between a 22''Dark Energy Ride Mark I and a 22" K ride.

I play 'poppy' type music, and need a crashable ride, that is dark sounding, with washy and ping.

Yeah, those are god. They're really expensive though.

Drum Phil 06-30-2006 08:58 AM

Im more into the MKII's tbh

slickrick1688 06-30-2006 02:10 PM

Yeah, the dark energy rides own!

EDIT: W00t, post 4000 in this thread!
Im more into the MKII's tbh
Na, i didnt like the sound clip as much.

The only downside I can see is are they really worth nealy £100 more then the K Rides. Which is leaning me more towards a K.

chewaz 06-30-2006 10:31 PM

paiste soundedges (2002 and signature) for wich styles would you use them?

raz0r 07-01-2006 07:43 AM
Na, i didnt like the sound clip as much.

They may cost £100 more, but that's because they're about £100 better than a K ride.
I'm planning on eventually getting either a 22" Signature Dry Heavy (custom order) or a 22" Dark Energy Mark II ride for my primary ride, and moving the sweet ride to an aux position.
Those rides are just so damn awesome.
