Hell Awaits
Haunting the Chapel South of Heaven Reign in Blood Show No Mercy Seasons In the Abyss Is how I'd go |
Show No Mercy to Reign in Blood is prime Slayer material. Hell Awaits is more epicy "prog" material songs, I use prog loosely too. And with that, Hell Awaits is the best Slayer album. Though I doubt they'll play anything off of it.
If you want to just get familiar with their material for a concert, just check out songs from Reign in Blood to Seasons in the Abyss really.
You suck! You got me watching all the stupid-ass ghost hunting shows, and now I'm all scared to sleep in my bed :( I'm campin' on the couch as of now. |
I go:
Reign In Blood Haunting The Chapel Hell Awaits Show No Mercy SOH Seasons |
So you guys don't like Exile and Payback?
|
I don't really like anything I've heard off GHUA. I used to enjoy Disciple, but it gets really old really fast.
|
The only song I liked off that album was Disciple
|
The song comes off decently live, but that's about it
|
Woh, I love Exile, Payback, Disciple, Bloodline, Threshold, God Send Death.
I thought the good production and down tuned guitars made them sound good. |
Slayer need to go back to Eb. The guitar tone on the new songs sounds like shit.
Reign In Blood sounded better than GHUA production-wise, anyway. |
Yeah, production on "Cult" slurped some serious nads. The guitar was too down-tuned, so it just sounded weak as hell.
|
Yeah, if you're going to downtune that far, you need some fucking bass in the guitar tone! It's like Jeff and Kerry are still using the same amp setting as always, which ends up sounding like shit in whatever crappy tuning they're in these days.
|
I'm not too fond of the production on RiB, or the earlier albums. I personally think they sound better live. Especially those Download 2005 videos I keep whoring.
I haven't heard Cult yet. |
At least they aren't using 7-strings like I believe they did on GHUA. Honestly I don't see the point in tuning past D. Hell....my band tunes to Eb and that's quite low enough for me.
I thought the Production was probably the best on South of Heaven. The only problem with it was a little lack of bass in the mix. |
It's better than the GHUA stuff, but still pretty average.
Most people here seem to like it quite a bit, though. You can download it here.
Honestly I don't see the point in tuning past D. Hell....my band tunes to Eb and that's quite low enough for me.
For thrash, that is true. Dismember, Entombed, Carcass etc sound great however. |
Yeah, Dismember has a pretty good tone, as well as Massacre. Both tune to D, I think.
|
Hmmm, this new song doesn't seem anything special to me. I still prefer Exile. :p.
|
Like I said before. I prefer it to anything they've done since Seasons, but it's still nothing special.
|
Yeah, Dismember has a pretty good tone, as well as Massacre. Both tune to D, I think.
Dismember tune to C. Massacre I'm not sure about, but it would be either D or C. Awesome tone regardless. |
The new stuff > GHUA (well on par with Disciple, New faith, Payback, Here comes the pain). I like the vocals they're not to soft, yet not distorted.
|
Is that why so many of you dislike GHUA, the vocals?
|
It's mallcore, not thrash. That's why we don't like it.
|
I always thought mallcore was that stuff emos listened too.
I can agree it's less thrashy though, obviously. |
You've got to be kidding! That's the album that has the most riffs, the most evil guitar tone and lyrics, and the best songwriting!
Agreed
You suck! You got me watching all the stupid-ass ghost hunting shows, and now I'm all scared to sleep in my bed :( I'm campin' on the couch as of now.
 I went to the Haven again yesterday at day time, holy crap, I got attacked by bees. I had to make a mad dash to my jeep.
Hell Awaits Haunting the Chapel South of Heaven Reign in Blood Show No Mercy Seasons In the Abyss Is how I'd go
Hell Awaits Haunting the Chapel Reign in Blood Show No Mercy Seasons.. SoH Kind similar.. maybe not
I go: Reign In Blood Haunting The Chapel Hell Awaits Show No Mercy SOH Seasons
No longer Hell Awaits... BAH! Hell Awaits >>>> ALL
Slayer need to go back to Eb. gah...
going to see slayer... i told myself ages ago i would once in my life... so yea... roll on november |
I promised myself I'd see Slayer every chance I get. This'll be my second time going, and this time I won't be going with any bitch friends. Last time I went, my pal was all, "I wanna go, I like fast music" so he goes with me, about 3/4 into Slayer's set he went out to wait for me and the concert to end, I asked what happened, he tells me that he didn't like that kind of music. Gayness.
My dad said he's highly considering going to see them up at Long Beach as well. If he decides to see them up there aswell, holy crap I'll be so stoked. |
They didn't use 7 string guitars on GHUA, they just tuned down real low
I think they did, actually. I swear I have an interview with KK which says BC Rich made him a custom 7 string which he tuned to Eb. |
Damn they really need to go back to 6 strings Eb
|
Eb is great.
|
So Slayer, live, is pretty killer. But Lamb Of God stole the show.

LOG are OK i guess, never really liked them
|
They played a song off there new album. I thought it was pretty good honestly.
It's that "sacrament" something or other tune. They can't decide whether to attempt DM or fall into generic metalcore. So a cross between will be perfect for hot topic. |
They played Sacrament.
LOG are OK i guess, never really liked them
I'm not the biggest fan of there music, but they work a crowd. You know how usually the crowd is pretty calm like towards the back, then theres a few moshes and some people going crazy up front? We'll they had the whole crowd going nuts. Seriously you could not find safety anywhere. It was by far the largest pit i've ever seen. Bodom was good too. |

Their setlist is pathetic. Only songs exciting me live are Silent Night Bodom Night and Angels Don't Kill. I saw CoB last fall and it was epic. LONGGGGGG setlist. I don't care about Mastodon. I'm quite happy about seeing Thine Eyes Bleed. I didn't even know who they were. Then I heard Cold Victim and dl their album. Big fan now. Slayer. I'm VERY happy about seeing |

Thine Eyes Bleed were awful, live at least. I didn't like it. Mastadon were pretty good. I think TEB, Mastadon, and Bodom all played like 5 or 6 songs, LoG played maybne 8 or 9, then Slayer went on for a while. I wish Bodom played longer for sure. They were good though. It was Alexis bday yesterday too. |
