plus all the cool effects Justin uses, it would be very expensive, but you would have an awesome sounding bass |
yeah I have been trying to Chancellors tone for ages, specially his tone in 'Schism' it is so hard to get! I have a multi-effects pedal and the same boss chorus pedal that Justin uses, and I still cant get that tone. It actually quite annoys me :p :upset:
|
Doesnt he use a Diesel amp?
|
no i'm pretty sure he uses mesa boogie amps.
|
Justin uses Wal basses (which he fell for while recording "Ænima"), cabinets by Mesa/Boogie (8 inch speakers), pre-amp by Demeter. Effects: Boss Delay, Chorus, Flanger, and Distortion pedals, and a DigiTech Bass Whammy pedal, used occasionally (for example, at the beginnings of "Third Eye" and "Eulogy".)
someone told me some time a go that he sends his tone through ten effect pedals before it goes out the amp. do you by chance know what song this was again? |
ive tryed to get justins tone on mine too, very difficult, still havent got it completely

what is everyones favorite tool band picture?
|
what is everyones favorite tool band picture?
Of the band? Definitely the one with the chihuahua on Maynard's shoulder from toolshed. Artwork? The one with Bill Hicks and Maynard from Ænima. |
this is my favorite http://www.toolpantheon.com/toolapmag.jpg

I think you're thinking of Adam, who uses a Diezel as one of his amps.
this is my favorite http://www.toolpantheon.com/toolapmag.jpg
I had never seen that one, that is really cool. |
I bought a Tool poster this morning, it's made my day. :)
And Kage, I'll try and upload a song or two tomorrow depending on how broke I am. :p |
I think Adam also uses a Mesa Boogie. At least he is one of the featured artists on the Mesa Boogie site.

Yet another reason I can't wait to get to a concert of theirs. Empty my pockets of money, fill them with merch. |

If you can't, don't worry about it, though. :thumb:
I think Adam also uses a Mesa Boogie. At least he is one of the featured artists on the Mesa Boogie site.
He does also use Mesa Boogie. I believe he uses three different amps in conjuction with one another: Mesa Boogie, Marshall, and Deizel with 2 Mesa cabinets and a Marshall cabinet. |
^ Switching from one song to another or during songs? Just wondering.
|
No, he uses them all at the same time, each playing a different role. Something along the lines of using one for bass, one for mids, and one for treble. Not sure if it's that straightforward, but it has something to do with that.
|
In other words, he uses way more amps than he really needs. :p
|
Well, he's really picky on his sound. He tweaks each amp to get just the rigth settings for his tones. Hell, if I had the money to do so I'd do the same thing. He says he uses the Marshall and then the other amps to "fill in the gaps" and bring out each amps' strenghts and weaknesses (ie, what the Marshall lacks in bass, the Diezel fills in for it)
|
^ Thanks a bunch. If i had that many amps, i suppose i would tweak them for all their worth as well. He does get some sweet tones out of his setup.
|
I get plenty of tone out of my 50 watt Fender Bassman. Clapton and SRV felt they got enough out of it as well... I'm not a fan of those hugearse rigs with 3 or 4 or whatever amps. I like Adam's playing of course, but I really find it unnecesarry to really spend any more than 2k on your setup. I can probably do basically the same things with my digitech RP300 that he does with all 10 of his effects pedals.
This is probably one of the few criticisms I have of Jones, however. |
Hey guys, can any of you post any Tool videos? Preferably live performances, but some music videos would be cool to. I always search through the internet and Limewire, but I can never find anything. Especially the Live Videos. So, if you can please post the videos, or some websites other than "Launch", that carry Tool vids.
Thanks :thumb: |

Dude, look for Tool - Parabola: Best of their videos IMO. |

This is a wicked link, lots of stuff including ticks and leeches live. But you have to wait in line. |
Yeah, it's a damn long wait, too. I'm currently waiting in line for some videos and i have been for about three hours, with about another hour left.
EDIT: Another two hours, actually. |
Ha me to. I got 6 on the go. With ticks & leeches only 158 min away...
Who isn't?

Who isn't?
That was the only way that question could have possibly been answered. |

No explanation or anything, it said (almost verbatim). Sorry, something happened and we don't know what. If you don't want this to happen again, then sign up for a membership! I smell something fishy  |

If you look for MP3's you can find a Carey solo. |

Hmmm... I used to use Kazaa but then it got deleted and I can't find a version now where you don't have to pay for everything. |
I'm sick of downloading crappy videos with barely audible sound, I want a Tool Live DVD!!!
Seriously, it'd be hardcore if it came with the new record. And they didn't tell you... |
hey man go to www.kazaalite.tk it worked for me i didn't pay anything but it's been like a year so I DON't KNOW it may or may not be free, you should check though, if you haven't already.
|
Thanks for the link, but I think I've tired there before. It was fairly recently that they converted it to paying only. It's too bad my harddrive crashed or I'd still have a decent version of it.
