People kept telling me in my thread that I should post this in the OFFICIAL Megadeth thread, so here you go:

I just recently read that Dave Mustaine (lead singer/guitarist of Megadeth) is suing his former bandmate Dave Ellefson (bassist) over an ad in the July issue of "Bass Player" magazine.

The ad shows Dave Ellefson holding a pedal tuner and a bass. And to the left of the photo it shows a list of all the names of bands that he's been with...including the Megadeth name and logo.

And this is why Dave Mustaine is suing his former bassist, for using the Megadeth logo in an ad? Does Dave thinks he owns the entire band?

Now I love Megadeth's music and I think Dave Mustaine is one great guitar player. But this whole thing just seems really stupid to me.

I just wanted to know your guys opinion on Dave Mustaine's reputation. Like I said, I like his music, I just don't like his attitude.

Revenge maybe? Who knows, all I really care about is the music and I'm so sick of all the bad publicity around Megadeth. Some of it is Dave's own fault but most of it is the stupid media like that ****in Blabbermouth.

MAthiAS 07-31-2005 05:18 PM

Dave has become a bit of an idiot since his conversion...

FlyingPaul_83 07-31-2005 06:18 PM

Gigantour was awesome :thumb:

lets see...........this is what I knew they played in no particular order

blackmail the universe
die dead enough
the scorpion :thumb:
kick the chair
In my darkest hour
A tout le monde
wake up dead
peace sells
hangar 18
tornado of souls
holy wars
symphony of destruction
sweating bullets
skin o my teeth
angry again

this is what I think they played:
hook in mouth or 99 ways to die (the intro sounds the same so I'm not sure)
a song from KIMB

I was suprised that they played a lot of stuff from TSHF, I liked it a lot. I thought they would play mostly old stuff.

denboy 07-31-2005 06:43 PM

It's petty revenge.. Welldeserved revenge IMO.. But still incredibly petty... Dave isn't really the best christian out there is he? He should learn how to turn the other cheek

TSHF songs kicks so much ass live.. Especially Kick the chair

FlyingPaul_83 07-31-2005 07:14 PM

hell yeah, the energy is just pumping out and everyone goes crazy

I'd have to say black mail the universe was my favorite song they performed off of TSHF, with the scorpion in close second.

KBSD91 07-31-2005 07:17 PM

FlyingPaul when they played Holy Wars did they stop right before the slow part of the song and play a totally different song then after they finished continued with the ending of Holy Wars?

Deth 07-31-2005 07:56 PM
Hey guys im new to this thread and i wanna learn mor about megadeth. I hear they are great and i need to get omr old school metal influence. I hope no one gets pissed but im also a metallica fan (kirk hammet is my idol but i believe dave own his a*s). So anyway wut album should i buy first if i wanted to hear egadeth at their best?
If you get into Megadeth, you'll realize Kirk is not "Gawd-Lyk"

Kirk Hammett in mine and most peoples opinions as far as I can tell, is overrated.

His solos do not go with the solos like Friedman's do. They just don't fit. Not to mention on one of their dvd's he wears eyeliner with Billie Joe Armstrong.

Not to mention he has a fuckin belly button ring.

Get Rust In Peace, but any of the first four Megadeth albums are good.

Jesus, that would have been awesome.

Did you catch Dream theater? ( I don't even know what dates Dream Theater are playing...).
FlyingPaul when they played Holy Wars did they stop right before the slow part of the song and play a totally different song then after they finished continued with the ending of Holy Wars?
no, it was the last song they played and they said that they were running late.

To Creeping Deth:I went to the July 30th albuquerque showing. I live in albuquerque so I didn't have to travel far.

To Chu: Yes I saw Dream theater, and they were awesome aswell. I saw all of the bands. Dream theaters set was very good. they started with glass prison, then I think they played some songs off of octavarium which i was unfamiliar with, but it was cool nonetheless. They finished their set with pull me under, which was fucking awesome. One of the funny things about dream theater was when their lead singer didn't need to sing for a while, he would just leave and go back stage for like 5 minutes, then come back out and start singing again.

What was Nevermore's set like?

FlyingPaul_83 07-31-2005 09:32 PM
What was Nevermore's set like?
They were good, but it was nothing special. It seemed like they just walked on stage, played their songs, and then left. They had almost no "band to audience" interaction. They played their songs well, it was entertaining.

whatduffhuck7 07-31-2005 09:37 PM

megadeth imo is the only good band at that tour. im not really into the prog/ power metal scene

Hopefully they'll be better at my show... I really like their stuff.

What was their setlist like?

FlyingPaul_83 07-31-2005 10:48 PM

If your going, I suggest you see all the bands. While some aren't that cool, some of the bands might suprise you.

Question: Is dillinger escape plan on the gigantour, because they weren't ther when i went, but I have seen posters with them on it.

To Mathias: I had never really heard anything from them, so I didn't really know what to expect. They were enjoyable, but they didn't really get the crowd pumping like most of the other bands.

MAthiAS 07-31-2005 10:48 PM

Yeah they should be.

Dr. Killgreedy 07-31-2005 10:52 PM

i think they are.

KBSD91 07-31-2005 11:45 PM

Dillinger starts on August 5th.

FlyingPaul_83 08-01-2005 12:24 AM

ahhhhh I see.

MAthiAS 08-01-2005 12:25 AM

So what was Nevermore's setlist?

FlyingPaul_83 08-01-2005 12:27 AM

I don't know, I've never really heard any of nevermore, so I don't know, sorry man.

All I know is that they are good at soloing. :)

Symphony X was awesome.

FlyingPaul_83 08-01-2005 10:21 AM

When Are you going to Gigantour Mathias?

MAthiAS 08-01-2005 10:33 AM

August 24th

FlyingPaul_83 08-01-2005 11:25 AM

It was absolutlely awesome when Megadeth opened their set with Blackmail the universe. They had pyro effects and and weird chainlink fences covering their marshall cabs.

They opened with that at Download. No pyro though. Apparently they timed the intro plane bit with a plane flying over seeing as Download was next to an airport. I dunno if it's true or not because i was paying too much attention to the band.

It's true and it was cool as hell. That was a ****in great show, they were the most popular band on that day and I still can't believe they weren't headlining that's so stupid but anyways 2 weeks after that I got to see them at a club with around 1000 people and it was awesome, don't know which was better but I'll tell ya headbanging along with Glen and then James just a couple of feet away from them that was ****in awesome.

Jev 08-01-2005 12:03 PM

I waited all day at the front for them. I stood through all that indie but it was well worth it. The only person that got in my way was a security guard a couple of times.

did you go to gigantour? What show did you go to?

Chu 08-02-2005 03:29 AM
Droogies!

Well, the first stage of this tour is behind us and thank God for that. As with all tours I have ever been on over the past 20 years, all tours have bugs in the beginning. Fortunately we have top notch professional people out here from every band and we are now in smooth waters.

My dream for Gigantour is alive and all of the bands are having a great time. But I don't know who is having a better time; you the fans or us band guys. The backstage enviroment is one of the best I have ever been in and I will tell you that we are all, and I mean every band, playing better every night. The DVD is going to be awesome!!!

Thank you for supporting this dream, thank you for staying metal!

Tomorrow night in Dallas I am supposed to play a song with Dream Theater on behalf of Darryl. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I have fun since I have never jammed with another band like this. Wish me luck!
That's so good. I don't know if anyone else would really like that, but I so hope that's on the Gigantour dvd, or at least a Live bootleg of it gets released.

Apocalyptic Raids 08-02-2005 03:39 AM

I'm sure it will be bootlegged.

What song I wonder? My guess would be Pull me Under, or something of ToT.

Maybe just a jam or even a Megadeth song with keyboard solos and LaBrie singing. :D

FlyingPaul_83 08-02-2005 10:09 PM

I wish they would've done that at my show :upset:
