The manchester music scense always been pretty good, lots of bands are around here, and let you do covers or not, but i havnt been to any gigs realy, just rock the park once a year, but i dunno how the pop-punk/punk scene is, i dunno any places were to gig, its usualy indie around here :(

Yeah, manchester will always be the Indie capital (stone roses, Oasis, Elbow etc), so to see a break out punk bband would make a change.
best place to get some gigs in round here are local pubs, that or a 12 mile drive to either Nottingham or leicester, but its either Ska punk or the unobtainable heights of Rock City here.
If you check out local pubs/bars, you may find the punk one, I know every city has a pub dedicated to a genre, i've seen it in many i've been to (metal ones easy to spot, look for all the 16 year old goth chicks outside :thumb: )

Ha ha, well i think were gonna play a battle of the bands, but i think the pop-punk scenes gonna explode over here soon, well i kinda hope not, cuase theres not many british bands that are succsefull and are, i wanna start of the trend, but more kids will wanna play like blink and stuff so there might be more places to gig.

Well the whole emo/screamo trend will pass soon, so the next trend is open. i for one hopes that your band can spearhead a punk revival, so my progressive band will be overlooked, and remain underground, whilst building up a fanbase, then we can play arenas without getting any radio airplay :thumb:

Of couse, by 10 years time, I can see both our bands headlining Leed/Reading.

I know the feeling, at least you have likeminded musicians around, I have a guitarist who know 3 chords, a bassist without a bass, and im gonna start diggin for drummers in the ground soon. They guys who I jam with are all in bands with about 3 guitarists in each band already.

Cool, my guiaterest good, but hes self admited to love playing chords and stuff so could be a problem for solos, i think we have a potenshall drummer, i dont wana say much though, to much like tempting fate, i might get my Geetarest to stay the night on friday and righ music all night.

I've got the opposite problem, I hate playing multiple chords, I play a lot more soloing material, and lots of arpeggios.
best idea to write at night, thats when all my ideas kick in, always found that a weird mystery, I knowi ts all about tiredness and oxygen levels, but that seems to be the best time for anything creative.

I find i right the best riffs when im not trying, at home i always do it but always forget to right them down, then at bad practice were all there going, right, how can we start.................................................................then try to improvise but sounds crap :(

Hi guys, I'm a UK MXer too, but I'm just wondering as this is my first time visiting this thread, do you talk about anything UK-related, or is it all strictly music-talk? No worries if it's music-related only, I just don't want to seem out-of-place!

The best thing i've found is using powertabs. If I get an idea for a good riff, i put it down on there, and getting it sounding right. Then after a month, ill remeber it, send it to my friends, and hope they can write something good to compliment it. I've wrote almost full songs ith various people without ever having a jam session. then when we get together, in theory we should be able to play it, but it never happesn, mainly cos jam sessions dont happen much nowardays.
I've wrote stuff on it before without playing a note, then trying to play it after it sounds good. That works 5 times outta 10

Ive never been able to figure out powertabs, i just do it the ol' fasion way :)

I still do, the old pad and pen still works wonders, when i can remeber the rythym of what i wrote at least. Im looking at getting some recording thing for putting some of my riffs on here, so its even easier to write between my fellow musicians, those that bother to write anything.

Lol, i always record onto cool eidt, but when i do i find the note dosnt ring and sounds dead for some reason so when i record i sound realy crapy.

What do you use to record? Im in dire need of some form of good recording device, all I have at the moment is a crap speaker type thing on top of a webcam.

Think I may have Cool Edit on here somehwere though, suppose thats a start

Bass -> Lead -> 1/4" to 1/8" adapter -> Mic/line in port -> (on pc) Cooledit.

You can pick up them adapters in lots of shops, some music stores and pc shops etc.

May have one lying around somewhere, (adapter), I remeber using one for my CD player on my old amp
