I'm listening to AFI- Days of the Phoenix now. I feel like such a wuss, but I can't help it! There's so little punk music with good vocals.
The Beatles - The White Album (lol, i know)

You know what? That they are gods?

The Beatles, my friend, are no laughing matter.
Ok so heres a semi-new idea for a thread. Basically, you just post what ever song, album or artist you have really been liking at the moment. If it's a new band you could put a little bit about them, good songs etc...

So if this works well enough, we could maybe get it sticky'd ( Nacho? ).

Well, a cool new(ish) band I've been listening to alot lately is These Arms Are Snakes . They are a post-hardcore,art punky band who have one EP out called This is Mean to Hurt You.

Good songs to check out would be:

The Blue Rose
Drinking From the Necks of Loved Ones
Run it Through the Dog
Riding the Grape Dragon

---------------------------------------

I have been listening to Neil Young's Rust Never Sleeps alot lately and have come to the conclusion that it is my favourite Neil Young album. Definately check it out!

---------------------------------------

Television - Friction is one incredible song. Ahead of it's time.

If you guys think this is a shitty idea for a thread just say so. If not, update with new stuff whenever you feel the need.
these arms are snakes are a great band-i just recently discovered them. they played here back in november with isis-who i'm also into atm. i missed the show however :upset:
I still haven't heard how you like Shpongle yet. You never seem to log onto AIM.
Yeah, I very infrequently use AIM. When I do, you've been away all the times I've noticed.

Well the Shpongle actually didn't intrigue me nearly as much as I had hoped. Maybe my expectations were too high or something, but I just couldn't get into it.

The Arcade Fire's EP and CTTS's As the Roots Undo.

br3ad_man 03-12-2005 10:58 PM

I need to hear that EP. As The Roots Undo owns as well, been listening to it a bit lately.

Bandaid 03-12-2005 11:03 PM
Have you heard the original, or just the orchestral reading?
The version on Yellow Shark, the orchestral arrangement. I think its fantastic.
Can you describe the original?

Luxor 03-12-2005 11:19 PM
I need to hear that EP. As The Roots Undo owns as well, been listening to it a bit lately.
The EP's quite different. Reminds me of Death Cab.
The version on Yellow Shark, the orchestral arrangement. I think its fantastic.

It was scored on Zappa's weapon of choice in the late 80s and the early 90s especially, the Synclavier DMS. Therefore, it's all electronic, possessing some pretty crazy timbres. The Ensemble Modern actually slowed the piece down in spots (one in particular, anyway), and the orchestral arrangement loses some of the intensity because it doesn't have the crazy blips and bleeps of the Synclavier arrangement. However, it has a certain energy that only real players can inject.

Bandaid 03-12-2005 11:44 PM

Sound like im definately going to have to look into it, im thoroughly enjoying Yellow Shark by the way
