Hmm, I'm thinking of what album to get next. Atom Heart Mother, Division Bell, or Ummagumma. I might just get Pulse or Live at Pompeii.
I go for The Division Bell. They're really quite different though, so it's a matter of taste. |
Haha yes those are definitely different sounding albums.
I'd take Ummagumma over The Division Bell, but they're both good, as is Atom Heart Mother. But then again, I think you'd be better off spending your money on Pulse or Live At Pompeii for now. |
Animals and Meddle... Animals wins out, but I love One Of These Days, Fearless and of course, Echoes.
|
the first song is wierd and cool on the division bell, cluster one i think it is called, it is an instrumental
|
Meddle is my third favorite Floyd album. It would be higher, but unfortunately (well....fortunately, I guess) they made Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall.
And yes, Seamus is a good song. |
We have a guy at school called Matt Sharpe not many people like him. To make this related to Pink Floyd, I don't like them much any more. I dislike the album The Wall but the movie is great. Darkside is only one I could listen to anymore and I dont have it any more.

How can you stop liking a band?

ugh animals
|
what?
"Pigs (three different ones)" is my favorite Pink Floyd song |
Pigs, and Dogs are easily in my top 10 Floyd songs, the album flows so well, and Dogs is just amazing.
|
I never liked Animals. Definately on of the bottom 5 Floyd albums.
|
You know a band is prolific when you can have a bottom ten and a top ten without repeating yourself. And Floyd aren't even that prolific.
|
Animals seems to be one of those albums where you love it or you hate it. Personally I love it, just don't listen to it that often.
|
yeah I love it too.
|
It's one of my favourite Floyd albums, for sure. It would be my 5th favourite I think.
|
I love Animals, it's been the album I'm most regularly playing for the past few weeks.
Easily the greatest concept album about farm yard animals I've ever heard :P NP: Dogs. Stoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooowoooaaahhhoooone! |
I love Animals.
|
Animals is probably my Gilmour-era Floyd album.
|
Out of the Syd-Barrett era vs Gilmour era, you mean? Because when I think of Gilmour-era, I think of post-Final Cut.

My thoughts too. Animals was Roger era. |
I break it down like this :smoke:
Early singles > PATGOD = Syd era SFOS > WYWH = Group era Animals > TFC = Roger era AMLOR > P*U*L*S*E = David era I know Roger was very dominant during my "group era", but these works were very rounded in terms of musical contribution, I think. |
But in musical conditions, Gilmour wrote almost everything on Animals and The Wall, he just wasn't credited. (I've read that somewhere). But the balance was better before Animals, that's more because Richard Wright and Nick Mason were getting les and les input.
|

I believe that to be so for Animals, but less for The Wall. I remember reading how upset David was when Animals was released, and Roger's short piece Pigs on the Wing was split into two songs. Back then, you were paid by how many individual tracks you helped make on the album, irrespective of length. That means Roger got paid twice as much with the two Pigs on the Wing's than David did for the entire 17 minutes of Dogs. I'd be hella pissed! |
I doubt David would be that upset about pay, after all, he's the kind of guy who gives away mansions for charity.
And I think Roger wrote a lot of The Wall's lyrics, but Dave did do most of the music, I'm sure. |
Yup, Comfortably Numb was ment to be on his solo album ....
|
I think David would be more upset with Roger in gereral rather than missing out on cash. It was Roger's idea to split the song in two and have them "book-end" the record. Was Roger just being sneaky and money hungry
|
I don't think so. He loved the whole album coming back on itself. Look at Shine On and the line "Is this where we came in?" on the wall.
|
I think it works well, too. But it was a surprise last minute decision made solely by Waters...
Makes me think atleast :upset: |
