The Truckstops And Statelines Tour!

I had the pleasure of checking out this show tonight, and honestly, it turned out to be much better than I expected. I knew it would be a fun show, but I had no idea how great it would really be.

Hellogoodbye
These guys were really good. As an opening band they did their job perfectly. They got the crowd going, and really helped set the tone for a great night.

They played a number of songs off their EP, as well as a couple new one's from their upcoming full-length. At the end of their set, a number of people in costumes ran onto the stage and began shooting confetti, streamers, and silly string into the crowd. The only disappointment for me was that they didn't play my favorite song, "Dear Jamie, Sincerely Me", but either way they were great.

Acceptance
To be honest, I wasn't expecting much from this band. I had heard a little bit of their music, and wasn't too interested. However, they actually put on quite a good show. They had a lot of energy, and I enjoyed most of their songs despite the fact I had never heard them.

Panic! at the Disco
Most people at the show seemed to be there to see P!atD. They're set was really pretty amazing. The whole crowd sang every word to every song, and for the most part, the atmosphere was incredibly upbeat and enjoyable. Seeing as they only have one album, they played most of their songs, and it ended up being a great time.

The Academy Is...
These guys pretty much blew me away. They played a great set, and the crowd was having a lot of fun the whole time. By the time they came on, a good quarter of the crowd had already left, so their was a lot of room for jumping around and moshing (suprisingly).

At one point during their set, one of the members of Gym Class Heroes came on to help perorm a song that he had written with the lead singer of TAI. He forgot the words about halfway through, but it was still quite amusing.

Overall, their set was one of the most fun times I've had at a show in a while (which is saying something, considering the number of great shows I've seen).

:D

I'm jealous of you Brian. They were here yesterday, and the tickets sold out before I could buy any.

Mute Print 02-03-2006 11:50 PM

That sucks. It was seriously an amazing show.

Although, I have a feeling Less Than Jake / A Wilhelm Scream on Monday has the potential to top it quite easily.

Pazz 02-03-2006 11:54 PM

I might be going to see Fall Out Boy, From First To Last, Hawthorne Heights, and The All American Rejects in May.

Mute Print 02-03-2006 11:54 PM

I'm seeing that tour in April. It should be a fun time.

I wish it wasn't an arena tour though. :-\

B 02-03-2006 11:55 PM

I owuld have loved ot see that show Brian.

Pazz 02-03-2006 11:56 PM

Yeah, it's in an arena for us too. I'm not sure whether or not I can get tickets yet because I went to the arena website, and the website was under construction.

B 02-04-2006 12:00 AM

Ugh, Arena shows wouldn't be as good.

I liked when I saw Silverstein and some local bands in a tiny club that could hold like 200 people.

You guys need to get to more shows instead of saying how much you would have liked to go.

:p

Those kind of shows are always the most fun.

:p
I don't have enough money, and they're too far away until i can drive there myself. otherwise I would. i love the shows I have seen. they were some of the best nights ever.

Mute Print 02-04-2006 12:03 AM

I always forget that you guys aren't really that close to the city.

I have like 5 or 6 venues within 20 minutes of my house. :D

B 02-04-2006 12:05 AM

eff you Brian.

We have one tiny one that I was talking about that rarely hosts any good shows.

Pazz 02-04-2006 12:05 AM

Yeah, we have one venue 20 minutes away and it's not where a lot of bands would go. Then we have 45 minutes to Toronto.

B 02-04-2006 12:05 AM

Mute Print 02-04-2006 12:07 AM

Okay Bnraond.

I think I've been to eleven or twelve different venues to see shows, all of whichare no farther than Rochester (just over an hour).

B 02-04-2006 12:08 AM

Lame. You've been to more shows in one wek than I have ever. Teach me plz.

Mute Print 02-04-2006 12:11 AM

Step 1: Move to Buffalo, or another city that has lots of shows for low prices.

Step 2: Listen to a very wide variety of music.

Step 3: Go to as many shows as you can afford, and don't be afraid to go to multiple shows a week (my record is five in a week, on two different occasions.)

:)

B 02-04-2006 12:11 AM

Step 1: I wish

Step 2: I do

Step 3: i can afford like 1 lmao

Mute Print 02-04-2006 12:13 AM

Are shows expensive in Canada?

Usually, I only pay $8-$10 for smaller shows, and $12-$16 for bigger shows like the one tonight.

Note: All dollar amounts are in real people money (aka US Currency).

Pazz 02-04-2006 12:15 AM

TAI, P!AtD show in Toronto was $13.50.

Mute Print 02-04-2006 12:16 AM

$13.50 US, or Canadian? (not that there is that much of a difference anymore.)

Yeah, ours are similar. I'm just mad poor.

The ToC tour tickets cost like 35 bucks each though the fags. I want to go but I don't have the money.

Money is the main issue, I need a job.

Mute Print 02-04-2006 12:21 AM

Taste of Chaos is only $25 here, although we deserve to be charged less since we don't get Thursday.

I'm seeing Alkaline Trio and Against Me! in a couple months for like $18. That's as expensive as it gets for club shows around here.

Pazz 02-04-2006 12:25 AM
$13.50 US, or Canadian? (not that there is that much of a difference anymore.)
That's Canadian.

I plan on keeping some of my birthday money for some upcoming shows.

B 02-04-2006 12:28 AM

THURSDAY FTW

I'd pay 40 bucks just to see Thursday.

Yeah, I was gonna go until I saw that. I'm dead broke. I can't starve myself for a week just to go :-\

I'm planning to go to Alk3/Against Me! though.

As is my parents have to pay for my flight to Chicago if I go because I can't afford it :-\

Brian: We get Thursday on Warped though...and Warped is never over like $20

try seeing Underoath and Fear Before the March of Flames and the Chariot in a club that was built for 500 but somehow packed in 800

Mute Print 02-04-2006 12:30 AM
That's Canadian.
Heh, it was $14.00 here. Well worth it though.
I'd pay 40 bucks just to see Thursday.
I probably would, but chances are if Thursday were to come here, I'd only have to pay $15, and I'd get to see twice as long of a set.
I'm planning to go to Alk3/Against Me! though.
That show will be interesting for me, seeing as I'm still not much of an Alk3 fan.
Brian: We get Thursday on Warped though...and Warped is never over like $20
Truth. Warped looks incredible this year, already.

That sounds awesome.

Fear Before are great live I bet.

Brian: I hope they come here by themselves, or like, just not on a large tour like that.

Pazz 02-04-2006 12:32 AM

When Thursday goes on tour for their new album, we are definately seeing them Brandon!

Mute Print 02-04-2006 12:32 AM

FBTMOF is awesome live.

Except when I saw them, they cut their set short because a cable snapped, or something, and they couldn't replace it. :(

CommieCanada 02-04-2006 12:33 AM
That sounds awesome.

yes it was

and yes they are. the entire place was a huge pit and all the club lights were out and there were only strobe stage lights on.

it was like a horror movie, but with fists and ninja kicks right in your face that weren' t there a second ago

B 02-04-2006 12:33 AM

/listens to Fear Before now

I'd love to see them live so much.

Hahaha, that really is a good description.

I'd say Poison the Well and Thursday top my list as well.

cbmartinez 02-04-2006 02:18 PM

Poison The Well is touring with The Fall Of Troy. Sucks that I have to sit through TFOT but it will be worth it.

Mute Print 02-04-2006 02:33 PM

That tour isn't coming here. :(

But I'm seeing The Fall of Troy for the thrid time in a couple weeks.
