Awesome, i'm downloading the album now.
|
Dam(n) those leaks. I'm just gonna wait because like Kage said I want something fresh and exciting to look forward to or listen to. I know if I listen to it now there won't be much excitment on May 3rd. Leaks just fu(kin' kill the excitement of the actual release.
123. May third will be a great day for me. |
May 3rd needs to get here sooner... Seriously.
But I'm glad everyone is saying its really good, because now I KNOW its good. Because with one person, you're not relaly sure if you'll like it, because everyone has different tastes... |
May third will be a great day for me.
Yeah, it sure will ...Well, actually May 2nd just because I'll be picking it up the night before.. :naughty: |
WHat are you on about? What overwhelming opinion? I've been the the CD release party and the album was amazing, in my opinion.
So far every person I've spoken to abouy the leak and from what I've seen on forums, people keep bagging on the record, holding to be repetitive and lyrically inferior to Trent's other work. |
Is anyone gonna pre-order it from the website? I probably am. You preorder it and get the cd and a shirt.
Right now I'm leaving this thread because the longer I stay here, the less I'll be able to resist the urge to listen to the leak. |
The leak is great, i'm putting it on my iPod as we speak.
|
The leak is great, i'm putting it on my iPod as we speak.
*covers ear.... eyes* You're not helping man... But its really that good? How do you think it stands to his other work? |
Eh, the temptation to download the leak isn't too strong for me. It was at one point, but with the album release being so close, I know I can wait. That, and the fact that I've heard it once before.
|
I know... but its right there, and I know all I have to do is click it, and I can hear it...
I'll deal though. |
So have you guys seen the NIN performance on some tv show called CD:UK? I know its only being broadcasted in the UK, obviously, but it's been around the net for a few days now. Anyway, I just saw it yesterday...not bad even though the crowd for some reason doesn't seem to be so excited about being there. Maybe it's just me. I don't know. They just seem rather calm.
|
The full album was leaked as of today....
|
nice, it leaked.
since im on 56k ill only download it if its in 128kbps format. its either that or im going to buy it - im prob going to buy it since it take a long time for someone to encode it to 128, if im lucky. bring back 128 |

is it going to be on this weekend, or was it on last weekend? |
The full album was leaked as of today....
Please, before you post at least read a few of the most recent pages. This isn't news at all. I'm going to try and check out that video. Do they play any new songs? |
Yeah, what songs do they play Misunderstood?
|
is it going to be on this weekend, or was it on last weekend?
I have no idea. I acutally don't live in the UK so I wouldn't know. They played the new single, The Hand That Feeds. |
Oh, I thought you lived in the UK and thats how you knew about it.
|
Heh, no, I live in Texas. I found the video on some other board actually and i downloaded it.
|
well the son  g "the hand that feeds" is pretty cool if its anything like the last albums it should be good,

Here's the video for you guys...I hope it works. If not, I'll try it again later 'cause right now I've got to get to class... |
The video for The Hand That Feeds is on in a few minutes on TV in my fair country. I'm somewhat excited.
|
They are supposed to play the video on mtv2 but I have yet to see it on there.
|
They played THTF on cd uk. They werent really that spectacular, it was mixed terribly for NIN.
and lyrically inferior to Trent's other work.
Yeah cause reznor's lyrics are out of this world... |
They played THTF on cd uk. They werent really that spectacular, it was mixed terribly for NIN.
Yeah cause reznor's lyrics are out of this world...
Was that sarcasm? |
Yeah cause reznor's lyrics are out of this world...
I like his lyrics quite a bit, sarcasmatron. |
I couldnt resist downloading it; and I like it thusfar :)
|
Yes, it was sarcasm. He has some alright lyrics but for the most part, theyre not all that great. He's more respected for his music.
I am a big man (yes I am) and I have a big gun got me a big old Dick and I I like to have fun held against your forehead I'll make you suck it maybe I'll put a hole in your head you know, just for the **** of it I can reduce you if I want I can devour I'm hard as ****ing steel, and I’ve got the power I'm every inch a man, and I'll show you somehow me and my ****ing gun nothing can stop me now shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot I'm going to come all over you me and my ****ing gun me and my ****ing gun
Yeah those are stellar... |
Do you even know what the hell he's talking about in this song...or what issue he may be addressing? I don't know but to me it seems like he was talking about the fact that some men feel "powerful" and/or gain self-confidence by letting everyone else know that they have a big "gun" or pen!s...it is an affirmation of their masculinity....and they do this because of the stereotypical idea that society has of men. It could be about his dear friend Tori Amos and the fact that she was unfortunately raped...He might be singing it from the rapists perspective... Or, as i've read before, he's simply making fun of gangster rapping and how alot of the time all they talk or rap about is their dicks and how easy it is to get women ....So, either way you look at it, those lyrics are just fine and well thought out...and were put into a certain "simple" way that obviously many people out there don't understand. |
Man, how come everyone who trys to say NIN suck at lyrics, put THAT song up, I have never seen another song used as an example...
And that song plays a pretty big "role" in the whole album. Read Kage's awesome review on The Downward Spiral, you'll get it :thumb: |
Aww man how can you say that song has bad lyrics, when I first got the Downward Spiral I didn't really like that song, but after a few more listens it's just like, woa cool song and comically good lyircs :thumb: Plus he written some amazin lyrics, something i can never have, so simple, yet so moving.
*covers ear.... eyes*
You're not helping man... But its really that good? How do you think it stands to his other work?
It's great. It is not as good as some of his other work, but it's still excellent. The way the album flows together is perfect. |
Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth
Okay...I've given it the old once through. Do.... not.... like.... it. Every song sounds exactly the same. Same tempos crawling in the 90's to 110's save for a couple tracks, same instrumentation, same treatments on all vocals and drum sounds, and worst of all in it's delivery...same pathetic stabs at doing hokey pop-enunciations on the vocals. "WITH..AHHH-Teeth-AHHHH" WTF? The programming sounds really stripped down, and I know it was supposed to be like that, but in the finished product, it comes off sounding amateurish and rushed. Usually NIN albums present some new synth or weird distortion on the guitar that you've never heard before, usually they rewrite the manual for softsynths or hardware pieces, but here everything sounds like either a rehash of previous albums, or an unabashed ode to this crop of "retro" rock going around the last few years. I'm not sure if when Trent explained the simplified nature of this album that he was not really obfuscating the phrase "run out of ideas" There were a couple of songs where I could almost envision some fat middle aged guy who hasn't gotten the point that he'll never be a rock star or that his lyrics are not deep clanging away on the karaoke mic. Then there are others, of course led by the atrocious "The Hand That Feeds", where I almost wanted to synch up my hips in a giant swaying motion and chicken neck in a mockery of ****-rockist athemism at it's worst. WILL YOU BITE? THE HAND? THAT FEEDS YOU? seriously....it sounds like he's actually expecting you to answer the question. Yeah Trent, my teeth are gnashing and my emo-cut locks are flailing in unison. Feel that portamento preset!!!! RAARRRGGH!!! *slams mic down* The only redeeming portion of this album IMO is the two song block of "The Line Begins to Blur" and "Beside You In Time" which sound like a much needed reach back to classic NIN song structure, and a strange departure into uber-compressed and laid back trance respectively...but all that is rendered moot when the closing track intrudes a few minutes later with it's mopey generalizations and gimicky crowd samples that seem plucked straight from the blueprints of a 1999 Hard House Anthem. If the writer of the ubiquitous, and ultimate song of self-pussification "Children", Robert Miles, got together for a leisurely evening of decor and gardening tips with Trent Reznor, this would be the result....and unfortunately.....must have been. Sorry, but I'm not gonna cry just because you have a piano and some filtered vocals. if I could give out lashings with a rattan cane to denote my displeasure with an album, you can bet Trent Reznors *** would hurt worse than a Singaporian vandal. The final observation I gleaned from the 50 minutes I now believe I wasted listening to this "album" is this... There is only one thing worse than someone who writes formulaic, overly accessible music... someone who tries to and fails. |
woa thats quite some rant,i'm rather disturbed after reading that, yet you say you dont like the hand that feeds so **** knows what qaulity the rest of the songs are...and i doubt it can be that bad,its trent fukin reznor

For making a thread about AH's horse cock wasn't it?
|
Hey shut up Josh. It was for a funny reason.
What reason? |
Well, there's this joke in the community thread that the user AH has a horse c0ck. I made a thread in the Pit entitled, "ITT: We discuss AH's Horse C0ck." He reported me to the mods as a joke, and the mods took it seriously and I got a 2 week ban.
 Nice. Anyway, on subject, do you have With Teeth? |
