i'm currently waiting for Appetite for Destruction to arrive, should be here this week :) i got the greatest hits when that came out, and i've heard the Live Era: 88 - 91 or whatever it is, several times at my cousins house, and i finally ordered AFD last week.

You won't be dissapointed. AFD is the real greatest hits collection.

blue3 11-07-2005 04:53 PM

True. All the songs are great.

The Illusions are worth picking up too once you get a chance to listen to AFD all the way through.

guns_n_roses=Slash+Axl 11-11-2005 12:37 AM

the usyi albums are good.

blue3 11-14-2005 02:31 AM

Yes they are. I like UYI 2 more though. Except My World.

The_Riddler 11-14-2005 02:38 AM
the usyi albums are good.
When I first bought Use Your Illusions I didn't like them to much, but after awhile they grew on me, then I started disliking them again. Take it for what you will, but I am not the biggest Guns & Roses fan, but they have some great songs on the albums.

One of my friends, I tried to get listening to Use Your Illusions I and II but he wouldn't accept in doing so. He hated both the albums.

Anyway, yeah, first post in the thread I think. I haven't listened to Guns & Roses in quite awhile, my favorite song of theirs is probably "Don't Cry".

Kyle 11-14-2005 05:10 AM

Use Your Illusions 2 is immense, I have to be in the right mood for it though. I think It's an album tat I like to listen to all the way through(not just the best tracks). I love 14 years.

Kyle 11-14-2005 09:03 AM

that sounds awesome, it's on TV right?

StreetlightRock 11-14-2005 09:09 AM

0.o Thats most definately sounds wicked. Must find out more!!

Kyle 11-14-2005 09:25 AM

can anyone explain what this means?
0.o
I've never understood it

StreetlightRock 11-14-2005 09:25 AM

Big eye, Little eye.

blue3 11-14-2005 05:34 PM

Sounds cool. Too bad I don't have VH1.
Use Your Illusions 2 is immense, I have to be in the right mood for it though. I think It's an album tat I like to listen to all the way through(not just the best tracks). I love 14 years.
Really? Even My World? And 14 years is one of my favorite songs.

My teacher read a 'poem' about war today. It was the Civil War lyrics by Guns N' Roses. I thought it was cool and I was saying the lyrics, cause um, I knew the lyrics.

Well, not My World. I sometimes forget that song is on the album because I never listen to it. But other than that theres no songs I hate on it.

Cipher Hour 11-15-2005 07:22 PM

UYI was a necessary evolution and progression for the band. Doing another Appetite would have just stunted the band's growth. One of the things I admired about Guns N' Roses is that need to keep evolving and keep changing rather then just repeating yourself over and over again. It was innovative and at times the albums easily beat AFD. Excluding a few bad tracks on both albums, UYI I and II probably would have gotten a lot less crap from the critics and the fans.

I'd pretty much agree with that. That's why it annoys me that people have a go at Axl for ruining the band. If he wasn't in the band Slashd have made another straight up hard rock album which could have A)made AFD less special or B) completely failed and too much of the same thing might have made AFD boring to listen to. The constant progression of the band is what made them so interesting to watch.

Kyle 11-17-2005 10:15 AM

Considering there is already the other greatest hits out, it's gona be 3 greatest hits cd's from 4 studio albums...impressive

blue3 11-17-2005 05:30 PM

Oh, great.

So it's Matt Sorum's birthday on Saturday. He's turning 45, I think.

guns_n_roses=Slash+Axl 11-19-2005 12:43 AM

hopefully this will be their last breatest hits a;bum/ the c.d comes out. or maybe on the greatest hits they add 2 unrealsed spngs on it probley not. would be nice though

blackthorne 11-19-2005 07:38 AM

some new unrealeased songs would be nice

what the hell r u talking about?

woundedmonkey 11-23-2005 10:18 PM

i like guns n roses... the reason they're not my favorite band is because they made some pretty terrible songs [ex. My World] i either love a song or hate it if its by them

StreetlightRock 11-24-2005 01:52 AM
what the hell r u talking about?
I'm assuming he meant that Aethist are the odd band out.
Hah yeah, what a waste of cake. November Rain is a great video.

So, I just heard Kelly Clarkson's cover of SCOM.. I didn't like it much. Anyone else heard it?
I heard a techno cover of SCOM a few months ago. It was shit, obviously. The took out the solo. I don't think it was Kelly Clarkson's version, becasue it didn't sound like her.

I heard about the video for It's So Easy, but I've never seen it, and I have Welcome to the Videos. What's up with that?

Kyle 11-24-2005 06:41 AM

It's So Easy video is just a live perfomance video really, awesome song.

Been listening to Use Your Illusion 2 for the past 2 days, I love this album so much again now. I really like Locamotive all of a sudden, never payed much attention to it before.

Cipher Hour 11-24-2005 09:23 AM

Welcome To The Videos is missing both the It's So Easy video and the You Could Be Mine video (the latter missing due to footage with The Governator that the couldn't get rights to, and the former because Axl himself pulled the It's So Easy video out).

blue3 11-24-2005 07:05 PM

Launch.com has the It's So Easy video. Why'd Axl take the video out? It was cool.

Cipher Hour 11-24-2005 07:11 PM
Launch.com has the It's So Easy video. Why'd Axl take the video out? It was cool.
It's cause of the footage with Erin Everly.

blue3 11-24-2005 07:19 PM

Yeah, so? That's lame.

Cipher Hour 11-24-2005 10:28 PM
Yeah, so? That's lame.
Never said it was a good reason to pull the video, it's just the reason. I agree that it's kinda lame.

You know what? Everytime I watch this thing it looks more and more staged. I especially like Axl's Superman impression- "I'll take it, goddamnit!"

Memo to Axl: Dean Cain's an asshole.
Heh, man I love that clip. It's that whole rock n' roll danger that's missing in today's music. Did Axl overreact? Yeah, most definitely. I still love watching that clip. I don't think that was staged, seems like authentic Axl to me.

And you're right, Dean Cain is an asshole.

Cypress 11-25-2005 12:37 PM

Pfft

Slash made that band what it was dudes, excellent guitarist, :thumb: thats all i got to say because its all there is to say, duff is pretty cool as well but slash just rocks :D

I can see what you mean, when he says 'I'll take it" it sounds so fake. The best bit about it for me is how slash tries to keep it going, he does his best.

Cipher Hour 11-25-2005 07:29 PM

Pretty ignorant to give Slash all the credit there, pal. Not saying Axl made the band what it was either because that would also be ignorant. Axl, Slash, and Izzy made Guns what it was, everybody else was replaceable (albeit Duff did make some important contributions).

dr._feelgood 11-25-2005 07:57 PM

Why are they realeasing a second Greatest Hits when Guns N' Roses has only had 4 albums?
