I picked up Phish - Rift....another great CD although I kinda knew that since I had already listened to all the songs.

I also picked up Deep Blue Something - Home, a pretty sweet CD.

Anyone into the Spin Doctors? I like them but I haven't had a chance to hear any of their newer stuff.

jpj 01-14-2005 07:28 PM

They're pretty good, I like their bass player he has some funky lines. I didn't know they had newer stuff, I thought they broke up in the mid 90's.

Badmoon 01-14-2005 07:47 PM

They're okay, Chris Barron's cool.

When you are here, I sleep length wise. And when you're gone, I sleep diagonal across my bed.

Awesome line.

lol Yeah that's on the CD twice, semi-weird but still good writing from Fishman.

I could've sworn today that the Spin Doctors had a 2004 CD...can't find it anywhere so I must be imagining things :amaze:

6Stringer 01-14-2005 10:27 PM
I think I could be considered a jam band fan coundn't I?

I have loved the Allmans for a long time and I like Govt Mule alot. I also love the the Grateful Dead(thanks to Badmoon) and now I am wearing a tye dye Grateful Dead shirt right now!

I also enjoy Phish and a bunch of other jam bands such as Robert Rudolph and the Family Band and Galactic. I also go to nugs alot let alone discovered it for JPJ and maybe other people if you guys haven't heard of it.
I missed getting to see Robery Rudolph and the Family Band :upset:
But I did get to go to see the Allman Brothers Band before so it all sort of evened out I guess.

JPage54 01-16-2005 08:10 PM

You guys have probably already discussed this but-Bonnarroo anyone?

jpj 01-16-2005 08:22 PM

I'm pretty sure keep on phishin' has been to it several times. I've heard lots of recordings from it and they're all awesome. It would be orgasmic to be there.

I was just looking at the 2004 schedule....OMFG!!!

Yeah I'm going with a big group of people. Adults included, but I don't care, I can really enjoy stuff sober. And they won't be sleeping with us so we'll make up for it each night.

Man you're so lucky, there's no way I could go. I want to be 18 :(

Kingadamx 01-18-2005 06:01 PM

I must go to Bonnaroo this summer. I finally have my driver's license, and I don't mind driving 6 hours to get there.

Badmoon 01-18-2005 06:17 PM

Well, you would have to be living in the same state, or be going with someone older, or you have to break the law!!!

jpj 01-18-2005 06:19 PM

Really? That's a law? I wasn't aware, but anyway I'm so going to it my senior year.

Broken Arrow 01-18-2005 06:20 PM

What, You have to be 18 years old to get in?!? Bullocks to that. I guess I'll have to wait one more year. It better be worth the wait.

ShineOnYouCrazyDiamond 01-18-2005 08:52 PM

i get to work there this summer! we got jobs as "parking supervisors", so we basically spend 6-8 hours the first day, get payed 400 bucks, and get free admission to the festival.

he meant that you cant drive out of state unless your 18 (have your senior license). at least i think so

Kingadamx 01-18-2005 08:54 PM

I don't believe so, not for New Jersey Licenses anyway  . You're allowed to drive out of state with those I believe. When you are 17 years old (in NJ) you just aren't allowed to drive between Midnight and 5am (around 4-5 im not sure exactly) and you can only have one non-family member in the car with you while you are driving. I am almost positive you can drive out of state.

but wouldnt it interfere with other state laws if you drove through them to get to the bonnaroo? cause i am in PA, and if you had to drive through there to get to Tennessee, then I would assume youd have to abide by their laws.

JPage54 01-18-2005 09:49 PM

That's quite a line-up. I've only seen about 5 people on that list tho.
(ABB, Panic, DMB, Soundtribe Sector 9, and Toots)

BTW

Gov't Mule is coming to a venue very close to me, tickets aren't sold out yet, but they cost $80 ;( I dunno if I wanna dish out that much to see them when I'm gonna be seeing them at Bonnaroo.

Freddie9 01-20-2005 08:45 PM

i cant believe neither moe. or trey are going to be at bonaroo

Wow, that's a lot. My friend only paid $20 to see them in Philly, and he managed to get Warren Hayne's guitar pick after he threw it out to the crowd (just a sidenote).

nkarnes 01-21-2005 09:28 AM

Hey, I tried this post in the lyrics section of these forums and got a bunch of emo lyrics so I might as well try it here. I play keyboards for a Michigan jam band called Grüv Unit (check out our website http://www.gruvunit.com/). right now we're mainly a Dead, etc. cover band but we're looking to play more originals. I'm looking for a lyricist who can write some good Americana lyrics a la The Band, Grateful Dead, Allmans, Little Feat, etc. I write a lot of music but any words I try to write don't really come out sounding that good.

Also JPage, I must agree with you on the parking for Bonaroo. After the mess at Coventry I don't know if i wanna deal with big festivals anymore. I definately got phucked at Coventry. I missed the first day and walked 10miles there and back in the cold. It was definately worth it to see the boys one last time but there was plenty of hastle. This summer I'm checking out the smaller festivals, you can hear all about them at jambase.com.

Also those aren't all the artists just the ones that have already been confirmed, so Trey and moe. will probably be there.

Jam2Me 01-21-2005 05:49 PM

Yeah guys sorry bout that $80 dollar thing that was for three people which my friend neglected to tell me..

Freddie9 01-21-2005 08:15 PM

Tsunami Benefit Concert:
Roseland - NY
moe.
Trey
keyboardist John Medeski
mandolin virtuoso Sam Bush
keyboardist Ray Paczkowski

Yeah Trey's gonna be there, that will be good hopefully it's on TV or something.

Anyone here into Galactic? I picked there studio album after I saw them at B.B. King's in NY. One helluva jam band :thumb:

jpj 01-22-2005 09:16 PM

I've heard some of there stuff on nugs, they're absolutely amazing. I really want to move New York.

Jam2Me 01-22-2005 11:28 PM

I take the train to NY every once in a while, that club has some awesome shows week after week. I pretty much wish I lived in NY now too ;(

semi-Offtopic: I can't listen toa nytihng on nugs it opens one of my music players that doesn't work with it, any advice? If it's too complicated just forget it about it though, no biggie.

Badmoon 01-22-2005 11:32 PM

Completely delete that music player.
