Nice man, where are you at in the world anyway, England?
Ah, England my good man.

Trigger_003 03-14-2005 05:09 PM

Hope that gig goes well for ya mate.

Argh, this is driving me crazy. In business studies we're doing a pretty sweet assignment where we create our own business. Typical me is doing a music shop, but we have to come up with an innovative name and I can't think of anything.

*Pulls a blank*

Um... Say if you sold pianos, call the store "Ivory Towers". Or just some kind of Pun dependant on what you sell.

moaner 03-14-2005 05:20 PM

I did that courseowkr, trigger.

Mine was just "<my last name>' Music", becuase I'm unorigional.

You only get ot find out the name if kkkocaine tells you my last name.

and aes, i know i shouldn't ask, but next time RATM does somehting banworthy, any chance you could make sure it happens?
and aes, i know i shouldn't ask, but next time RATM does somehting banworthy, any chance you could make sure it happens?
If RATM (or any other user) does something that is deserved of a Ban, then I can pass through a suggestion to make it happen.

I talked to him in that thread in the Site forum and would like to think that we had come to an understanding.
If I see him continually spamming and flaming excessively, (which I havent seen any of yet) I'll remind him of our agreement. But If it does at all happen, we'll see where we go from there.

All I can ask of you is just to leave it alone. Take Morriseys advice and just drop the argument. It isn't going anywhere.

You can reach a mutal agreement with people, but only if you give them a little credit in the first place. You may find that most people can be reasonable if you show them a little respect in return.
That is the agreement that I would like to think that I have with RATM at the moment. Arguments flat out do not get anyone anywhere, especially when on the Internet.

Just sit tight, and we'll see what happens.

moaner 03-14-2005 05:39 PM

yeah, time for me to get out of that.

Good job the voice of reason is here.

Trigger_003 03-14-2005 07:36 PM

Haha, thanks Chris & Moaner. I looked through the Yellow Pages for ideas as well and everything was like Jay's Music Shop lol. I'll probably end up doing something stupid like Strings n Things.

gaslight 03-15-2005 01:26 AM

What kind of instruments do you sell, hypothetically?

The range of instruments and the target consumer demographic could all help pick a more effective name.

Aes, what do you know about room acoustics and axial nodes and RT60's? I have an acoustics assignment for the 15th of may and I've got a feeling it's going to be my hardest yet.

i am the robots 03-15-2005 03:03 PM

How about Die Musik Markt.

German names for the win!

"Melodic Music" is a bit of a tautology. But might be alright.

Ohh. I don't really know much about room acoustics. It's a tricky subject. I guess that is why an acoustical engineer is one of the most complex vocations around.
I'd be interested to hear what that course of yours entails. But I may not be too much help. Sorry.

Basicly the acoustics module is only one year of my course, like music industry, except I already had two distinctions in music industry but only two passes in acoustics.

Now we do 4 assignments for acoustics in total. I've been told that assignments 1+2 meant jack, I can improve those results with assignments 3+4. So whilst I could probably battle on and get a pass, I want a merit at least. Because acoustics is cool, and I want to be cooler still. The basic gist of the assignment is thus,

Measure a room at home, college or whatever. (height, width, length)
Take the measurments for each wall, the floor, windows, doors, rugs, alterable acoustics* e.t.c.

*curtains

Then we put together a chart which I only slightly understand, something to do with area of the object and sabines alongside frequencies.
Then we work out the rooms ideal RT, then calculate the actual RT of the room. Then a mini essay 200-400 words on how this could be altered by introducing items into the room and working out their effect. And basicly a ton of calculations. Any of this familiar at all?

p.s. What the hell is going on with rep?
This pc loads *no* pictures, so Aes how is having "disabled reputation" working for you? And Moaner, how is "moaner has a little shameless behaviour in his past" going out?
Tis weird, I'm still beyond repute though, because I'm just great :)

Aes820 03-15-2005 07:16 PM

It sounds familiar, having talked to people who do stuff like that in the past.
But it is something I've never really gotten into myself.

Those Rep notes you are seeing are Alt tags to images that are not displaying.
Dependant on the amount of reputation the person has, there would usualy be a number ot + or - signs under their avatar.
These images do not show, as they have been disabled. However, you seem to be getting their Alt tags bleeding through onto the page.
imagine the headlines...

"Aes stumped- widespread panic begins"
 Sorry, I can't help out with the acoustics stuff either.

In other news, I went to the airport to catch up with some family friends, and the parking ticket cost $28 (AUD)...

Btw, thanks for the suggestions people :thumb:. Gas, I was thinking guitars (electric & acoustic), basses, drums and PA. Maybe things like trombone, trumpet, clari, sax... not sure about those.
Since there's a pretty wide range of products, it's hard to see any specific demographic that I could get a smart name from... I'm pretty sure it'll have to be related to music in general. I should be right with it anyway - I have quite a while to come up with one :).

gaslight 03-16-2005 01:10 AM

Noteworthy Music shop? I think that's probably been used by someone already though.

We can do it in an hour.

I'll stick a gun in my mouth later, that makes for better avatars.

Ok, in 10 minutes you have to find me a picture of a sausage ant (they exist)
GO.

denboy 03-16-2005 06:20 AM

According to google they don't

KKKKKocaine 03-16-2005 06:21 AM
According to google they don't
I know, but they do, trust me.
It was in 'worlds deadliest ants'
The sausage ant is a large male ant, it looks like a big fly wandering right into the path of tonnes of angry desert ants.
They attack it, but only the females attack it, they tear off it's wings and do the sex with it.

Trigger_003 03-18-2005 03:05 AM

Face The Music. There's my now "registered" music shop's name. Thanks everyone - again - for helping :thumb:

I've been asked to do a guitar solo for the next whole-school assembly... dunno how they're going to cope with flamenco/fusion lol.

gaslight 03-18-2005 03:59 AM

What guitar do you have Trigger? And what's your name :p.

Trigger_003 03-18-2005 05:20 PM

:p I guess you didn't see the earlier pages. Trea, how about you?

I've got a Yamaha G-50A... it's my dad's old acoustic. As I said a little bit back, I was looking into getting a Cole Clark or a Maton but they're a bit expensive for me at the moment. Yourself (and anyone else)?

gaslight 03-18-2005 09:10 PM

Nope I didn't, cool name, haven't heard that one before.

My name's Matt.

For basses I have an Ibanez GSR200 and SR500, an Ashton AB1100. I have an Epiphone SG knock-off, and that's it. I want to replace it with an Ibanez AX120 and an Ibanez electric-acoustic the product code of which I can't remember.

Oh and I have my new Ashton AK150 keyboard which I'm totally bad at.

Trigger_003 03-19-2005 04:09 PM

Okay, cool. Nice to know your name :).

Man, you only got your keyboard what... a week ago? You're not supposed to be a virtuoso yet :p.
