thebassicbassist, i sent over the noots song. moron does rock tho. i did a guitar tab for it on mxtabs.net.
thanx I'll check my e-mail, and that's some cool stuff, I wish I had the good ear so I could tab bass lines and junk

TheBassicBassist 12-29-2004 05:22 PM
Anyone here heard Pieces live on Letterman, when Deryck played piano? It was pretty cool.

Sum 41, believe it or not, have always been right up there as one of my favourite bands alongside Brand New, NOFX and Blink-182. DTLI is easily in the Top 5 of my best albums ever, maybe even in the Top 3.

Anyway I just got some songs (Astronaut which is a demo and Motivation acoustic) which made me appreciate them way more. I want to see them live again now
what is Astronaut, and my e-mail is posted above, I want the acoustic motivation man, and I posted a conversation about the david letterman thing a while back, you can go back and read it if you want

and they've always been my favorite band, I used to like the backstreet boys and nsync back when I was like 6, but then year 2000 came around, and Half Hour Of Power came out, and I was like, what is this pop s**t I've been listening to, I'm upgrading my standards, now I like pop-punk, punk, rock, metal, and only one pop band, but they aren't a boy band, they are a real pop band called Savage Garden, they are pretty good

and I'm not saying anything bad about them, but I've never felt anything towards NOFX, I've never liked them, I've never heard any of Brand New's stuff, but their song titles are really long, and it's cool to look at

I wish they would come to Oklahoma, or a state near it so I could see them live, and why did you change your name to Untitled instead of Untitled258

*shrugs*

I fancied a change.

I'mhungryForASandwich 12-30-2004 07:10 AM

What do all you hardcore Sum 41 fans think of their new sound?

(one of their new sounding songs is "We're all to blame")

Untitled 12-30-2004 07:18 AM

Yes, if were "hardcore" wed know were all to blame is a new song, there new albums good, but not there best, but it is still good.

Sum Pieces has both Astronaut and Motivation (Acoustic). I also have Over My Head and No Brains acoustic if you want those?

Yeah, I mean when AKNF came out, I thought they were pretty cool. But that was early on in my music stage, when I thought Blink were the greatest thing ever. But then DTLI was leaked, and I swear I would listen to it everyday on the school bus there and back. When I got home, it would go on the computer. That leak of that album was one of the greatest things that ever happened to me music-wise, and then of course when Chuck was leaked I was really into that as well.

Meh, NOFX aren't really similar to Sum 41, but I just love their music too. And Brand New, jesus man, you have to listen to them. I expect you'll like Your Favourite Weapon more than Deja Entendu, but they are the best band on the planet in my eyes.

some"farty"one 12-30-2004 12:03 PM

Me too, I was disapointed by Chuck after a couple of listens. I'll review it a bit.
The intro is cool but it could have been the intro of "No Reason" so it would have only 12 songs, then "No reason" is a medley of all killer no filler's songs and some more metalish sound ,some linkin park lyrics at begining... Then "We,re all to blame" which is the first single and harder than order songs if we except the chorus which is very popy. After there's a song that i realy like called "angels with dirty faces", the begining is not real good but after the first time the chorus comes the song is very rocky with fast drums. Then the song "some say" which is a slow song and reminds us of "handle this" from AKNF album ,realy the same chorus so its not real good in my opinion to repeat the same thing. Then the best song and the fastest of the album "the bitter end" even if the chorus is about the same thing as Battery of the album "Master of puppets"(best album ever) By Metallica. The solo after the first chorus exactly at same place than "battery". WE see that dave got skills at guitar at least. Then "open your eyes" which is not so bad but not so great with strange guitar sound. Then an other slow song (ew i hate slow songs) "slipping away" not so great ... acoustic guitar all the way and violons too bah I skip it...9th song called "I'm not the one" it's like a rap song with guitar in background instead of a dumb beat. not so great again. "Welcome to hell" is a short fast song that i realy like ,there's a bass solo of 3 seconds woohoo cone first time we notice your skills in 4 albums...Then "pieces" which is an ather slow song but so catchy that I like it a bit, not so bad yeah. "there's no solution" is a linkin park song in my opinion and i don't like linkin park so it's just an other boring song..."88" is a great song in 3 parts i'd say. The begining like someone said is just like Billy talent's song called "The Ex" and is a popy begining since we reach the meatalish part with a solo that reminds me the solo of again a "master of puppets" song called "leper messiah"
the it becomes slow with some guitar amp feedback and piano end it ends like that. It's the best song on the album or the second best.

I'd say if you like a mix of Metallica ,linkin park, old sum41 and slow songs you'll like this album but if like me you like fast songs you should like Does this look infected?.

wierdhead3 12-30-2004 04:44 PM

there new album is good i thought others where better no reason is the best song on the album i think it will be a single

cool, I have nothing to say really to this quote
What do all you hardcore Sum 41 fans think of their new sound?

(one of their new sounding songs is "We're all to blame")
its still just as good as their older stuff, but its different, I think it sounds really good, I wasn't too impressed with We're All To Blame, but 88 blew me away

TheBassicBassist 12-31-2004 12:11 AM
Yes, if were "hardcore" wed know were all to blame is a new song, there new albums good, but not there best, but it is still good.
agreed almost, I think its just as good as their other stuff, just different, its actually Rock now instead of punky, but its still the greatest

heck yes I want those too, and it took me effing forever to get ahold of Does This Look Infected?. I knew where to find it and everything, I've just never really had money, so I got it in late 2003, instead of the release date in 2002

I'm never going to like NOFX, I just don't really like it, and the only Brand New cd I've ever seen was Deja Entendu, so I don't know about any of that, maybe when I get some cash, right now I'm looking into Apartment 26, and Catch-22, and stuff like Buddha by Blink 182 (pretty much the only cd by them I don't have), and other stuff

nice review, I see a few things differantly, but its still pretty good, but you know there is a whole forum for cd reviews and chuck is in there, if I were you I woulda gone and posted this in there, but its good

Kif 12-31-2004 02:34 PM

I'd just like to say that Sum 41 site I said about has MTV Acoustic sessions of Over My Head, Pieces and There's No Solution. Pieces sounds beautiful in all 3 versions I've heard. I love that song

um..hi

hi evry1:)
Its enhancment isn't anything special, its just an application to get into their new and improved Goon Platoon if you haven't already. So if it doesn't come up when you put it in your computer, then don't worry about it.
my copy of chuck says enhanced cd on the back but when i put it in my computer i just get the making of we're all to blame then it plays the songs and theres nothing about the goon platoon. how do i get it to let me in the goon platoon? i tried on the site but it sed to pay for it in dollars which is useless coz i live in uk and i REALLY want to get in the goon platoon. :(

Spunkypunk51 01-02-2005 02:08 PM

used to be my favorite band.Still love em'.Have all their CD's except chuck. All Killer No Filler was their best hands down.

If you pay by credit card it doesn't matter what currency it is.

And that might be the reason your enhanced is like that. Mine is too, but if he lives in the US then they will obviously aim it at the US market

first off I would like to welcome you to the sum 41 thread, and man, was that an old quote or what? I posted that a very, very long time ago.

anyways, just do something to get ahold of some dollar bills, I'm not even in the goon platoon, that's the only advice I have for you, I wish I had the making of We're All To Blame vids on mine, but I don't

yeah for a new/sexy avatar, you always choose good ones man, (if by the time you read this his avatar has changed, then it looks like Teya Leoni with her shirt off movie up and down, or something like that)

I downloaded all of those acoustics, but can you e-mail me the No Brains acoustic??? please.

hey micheal, just wondering when are you going to send me that copy of Subject To Change?

I do live in the U.S., I live in Oklahoma. and I guess it's because I pre-ordered the cd that I got such a sh**y enhancement. you guys are lucky.
Chuck is amazing. Almost all the songs are extremely catchy and the solos that Dave puts out just shows you how talented he really is. This is the first album where you can tell how much other bands have influenced them; such as "There's No Solution"-Linkin Park, "The Bitter End"-Metallica. And the chorus of Some Say sounds so similar to Handle This it's eerie. I think Chuck is uber compared to D.T.L.I.
and also in im not the one-linkin park plus in no reason and angels with dirty faces- those two songs have bits taken out of infest by papa roach if you have listened to that

g0d_!d!0t! 01-03-2005 12:59 PM

sum 41 is the greatest band on earth, and their first stuff is good, but theyve relaly matured musically and lyrically, and dave is my ****ing idol. dtli was good but chuck rules. and my fave album by them was aknf. the music was kidna kiddypunk, but it was the cd that turned me onto pop punk and punk.

DJ Ducksauce 01-03-2005 08:14 PM

"The Hell Song" was the reason I wanted to learn to play guitar. Its also the CD that got me into Pop-Punk. I used to listen to it every day for a few weeks.

I know that all of you like to find ways to say the Sum 41 ripped off other bands, but could we please stop, and just enjoy their music?
