Can anyone recommend me some bands that are like The Blood Brothers (genre is other on most)?

BridgeToSolace 11-13-2005 04:28 PM

I hear The Murder Of Rosa Luxemburg is similar. I don't listen to either band, so I'm not sure.

Blueprint Car Crash remindes me of BB a lot as well, although I'm not sure why.

SunnyDayRealEstateAM 11-13-2005 04:33 PM

Okay, thanks I'll check em' out.

cbmartinez 11-13-2005 04:35 PM

The Chinese Stars.

B 11-13-2005 07:51 PM

Something similar to SDRE?

Mute Print 11-13-2005 08:02 PM

Texas Is The Reason
The Promise Ring
American Football

I have an album from each of them on Soulseek, so feel free to take what you want. :)

I'm recommending you all listen to some Protest The Fucking Hero. They are pretty sweet. And they're awesome live. They're getting kind of big around here at the moment. For a good reason too.

http://www.purevolume.com/protestthehero

They're also from one of the towns I grew up in.

Fire Away 12-09-2005 07:23 AM

Anyone know any good songs by Mest? Or Matchbook Romance?

DepthsOfDreams555 12-09-2005 07:28 AM
Or Matchbook Romance?
I used to listen to them a lot they have a new album comming out on Valentines Day. Playing for Keeps is a really good song and everyone says Promise is but I don't really like it. You probably will thats how all there fans start to like them. Your Stories, My Alibis is a good song as well. They are a good band but I don't think there new album is going to be any good. They have a song from it on their purevolume and it isn't very good.

http://www.purevolume.com/matchbookromance

Playing for Keeps isn't on there but My Eyes Burn is a good song.

Matchbook Romance's best song is Farewell To Friends.

Yeah anyway, I thought I'd share some recommendations people need to hear.

Cassino recently posted a new demo on their Purevolume, and I have no doubt that this band are gonna be big this year. Formed of ex-Northstar members, they have 4 demos up for listening now and they are beautiful. Made up of harmonic acoustic melodies and soft vocals, they are great listening for any acoustic lover. Check out "American Low" and "The Gin War"... hell, listen to them all!

If you want something a little heavier, check out Forgive Durden. This 4 piece band have gotten a lot of praise lately, and new album Wonderland is set to be one of the best this spring, being compared to the likes of Gatsby's American Dream and Boys Night Out. Listen to "Beware The Famous Jub Jub Bird And Shun The Frumious Bandersnatch" and "The Great Affair Is To Move"

I'll update this later, my computer is playing up at the mo ment

This is my mates band. They're awesome, check them out.

Edit: Haha, yeah. Check these guys out too http://www.myspace.com/silenceyourself

This is another band near me. They suck, but it's quite funny to listen to and take them serious.

Kif 03-19-2006 12:41 PM

I can't remember the last time I did one of these, but this should be the last one from my current PC, so I'll be more fluent next time.

Hundred Reasons have always had a bad relationship with the British music scene. They were in the sweeps of Violent Delight and Hell Is For Heroes, and eventually were dropped back in 2005. Now they are back with a triumphant third album, entitled Kill Your Own, filled with the heavy melodies they are known for. I highly suggest checking out "Broken Hands" and "The Perfect Gift" on their Myspace if you are a fan of harsh rock with some poppy melody.

Anathello created a buzz in the indie scene this year. They released album Floating Worlds in January and it's absolutely beautiful. Takes a bit of getting into, but is very reminicent of Ryan Adams, Bright Eyes and Rocky Votolato. There are odd instrument choices and melodic vocals, and together the album sounds brilliant. Listen to "Hoodwink" and "Don't Kid Yourself, You Need a Physician" for taster of this band.

I'd have more, really, but my audio output is plugged into my Zen at the moment and I can't check much out at the moment. Trust me, next week it'll be back to the regular 4 or so.

"Check out California's brand new up and coming artistTen Falls Forthand their newly released first full lenght album excuse me..i believe thats my ride"

http://www.purevolume.com/tenfallsforth

The structure of the c.d is amazing, with a poppy (its a great day)intro, leading into more soft (one that got away/goosebumps from a cello)songs, Only to smash you in the face with songs that cause speeding tickets, and finish off with a melodic(what the hell just happend)ending.

you can check em out at http://www.tenfallsforth.com

This is not an advertising thread for your own band, take that to the Jukebox thread.

Kif 04-02-2006 01:42 PM

I swear this thread is as good as dead, but I'll still post anyway. If one person takes into consideration the bands in this thread, I'll be happy.

Saves The Day are returning this year from a 3-year break after letdown album In Reverie. Slammed by most fans, they renewed their contract with Vagrant last year after finding no one else to release their new album. Alas, it's been a long time coming, but the emotional kids are back stronger than ever. Sound The Alarm is reminiscent of older albums like Stay What You Are, combining great infectious melodies with heart-wrenching lyrics. You can stream new song "Head For The Hills" exclusively from their Absolute Punk profile.

Punchline are enjoying their stay on Fueled By Ramen at the moment, arguably the most dominant pop-punk label at the moment. Their new album 37 Everywhere is another shining example of how great true pop-punk records still exist, sounding similar to many old Drive-Thru bands. Made up of memorable riffs and some great harmonys and vocals, the album is sure to be on iPods everywhere when it's released. You can stream songs "Flashlight" and "Green Light" from the album on their Myspace.

Lately, there's only been one thing I've listened a lot of, and that's Hit The Lights. Their debut album This Is A Stick Up... Don't Make It A Murder has caused a lot of buzz and brings back more of the early 2000's style pop-punk like The Movielife, Fenix*TX and Allister. Their memorable vocals and fairly original and equally impressive melodies have made sure their album has stayed on my MP3 player for weeks, and I'm certain they will get bigger when it's released. Absolute Punk is currently putting 4 songs from the album up each week, 4 of which are available from the link.

I know there isn't too much variety this week, but I've been in a very pop-punky mood.

Kif 04-09-2006 07:42 AM

Recommendations for this week! I'd appreciate anyone checking these out, and of course posting their own recommendations.

Ocean's Firing are my first recommendation, sounding similar to Terminal and Boys Night Out. They have a great sound, which makes me wonder why the hell these guys haven't been signed yet! You can stream their entire Bravado EP from their Myspace, but I suggest checking out "Marlin Texas" and "Bravo Bravado" if you like the bands I ssaid before.

Head Automatica are back as well, with new album Popaganda. However, if you can't wait that long, you can purchase the Pop Rocks EP on iTunes, or stream 3 songs from the album and EP on their Myspace. With a soothing blend of indie-rock and dance beats, the band turned heads in 2004 with their Decadance release. I suggest checking out "Laughing At You" and "Graduation Day" on their Myspace, as well as "Beating Heart Baby". Because that song owns anyway.

Birdmonster are soon releasing debut album No Midnight this Monday, a brilliant mix of country-esque melodies and hard rock riffs. I think this album will do well for them. Check out "Cause You Can" and "No Midnight" from their Myspace for some great rock songs with nice musicianship.

Permanent Solution 04-14-2006 05:10 PM
