Don't get me wrong, I don't support abortion, but still I feel so sad for her if she becomes a mother at 16.
but this is the reason why abortion should be legal, why should someone have their life ruined because of someone else. if you ban abortion you're taking away the control a woman has over her own body. i do believe a woman should be careful and not just keep having abortions but it still should be their choice what comes out of their body. also if a woman is in dire medical need of one she should be fully medically covered to get one rather then having to use the coat hanger in the alleyway. pro-life is a misinformed ideology based on religious upbringings that need to be looked at again.

Iai 10-06-2004 04:58 PM

A pro-life viewpoint does not take human behaviour into account. That's what it boils down to.
I was thinking about this very thing the other day when I was listening to "Me vs Maradona vs Elvis" by Brand New, it's about a guy taking advantage of a drunk girl.
nada surf had a song about that long before brand new called robot and mothers day...that's really passionate about it, really good to download...

are you for it or against i though?

Lowend 10-06-2004 05:56 PM

a clear majority of abortions performed are being used as a form of birth control. That is just wrong, in my opinion.

i think partial birth is bad, and should be/remain illegal. women have had plenty of time to think about it by then. it also just gives crazy religious people fuel, by providing them with pictures of mangled babies to blow up and put on signs.

there shouldn't be women having their 5th, 6th and 7th abortion. but if one can justify a single abortion, it should stand for multiple, as it's the same act, just multiple times. still that just creeps me out that some women have had that many. doctors should like, scar their abdomen for each abortion they have....yeah it sounds crazy, but it'll reduce the number of abortions!

i hate the idea of abortion, but i support the womens choice to have one. i don't feel one way about it. it's too complicated to feel one way about.

I totally agree with you MAK.

pro-choice

Tomahawk 10-06-2004 11:46 PM
Don't let her abort the baby though, that's bad news for everyone.
It's entirely her decision though. He should be supportive of whatever she decides.

If she decides that she has to get an abortion, then somebody preaching to her about why she shouldn't will do nothing but make her feel worse about it.

br3ad_man 10-07-2004 01:17 AM

If I had a friend in the same situation, I wouldn't support her in that decision. Abortion is killing, and that's the end of it,

Tapeworm 10-07-2004 07:08 AM

I agree with MAK.
If I had a friend in the same situation, I wouldn't support her in that decision. Abortion is killing, and that's the end of it,
But even if that's your view, do you not think that ultimately comes down to her decision? If the father was less of a cunt, I'd say he should be involved too.

I wish abortions were never necessary, but I also don't want to see a) back-street, highly fatal, illegal abortions and b) babies born into unloving families where they are not wanted and resented.

Iai 10-07-2004 12:45 PM
are you for it or against i though?
I am 100% pro-choice.

The Ashtray Girl 10-07-2004 01:33 PM

~nods~ definitely. And yeah, I'm all for lowering the limit, as babies have survived in the past that could have been legally aborted. That can't be right.

br3ad_man 10-07-2004 07:02 PM

Obviously it's not her fault that she's pregnant, but it's not the babies' fault either. The baby doesn't deserve to die just because it is unwanted. I'd feel bad if I was a woman and I aborted my baby. I'd feel even worse if I was a friend who just let one of my friends do that so she could feel terrible about it for the rest of her life. But that's just me.

a baby is only a baby outside of the womb, inside the womb is a fetus which is a collections of cells unable to support its life on its own giving the right of its fate to the bearer. abortion isnt the best way i'll agree but living in the world we do, do you really want a child to come into this world when its parent isnt even able to take care of themselves?

Tomahawk 10-07-2004 11:04 PM

Trust me, this argument will go nowhere. As much as I disagree with BM, it's his opinion and he's entitled to it. As long as he doesn't go bombing abortion clinics.

the entire last page was like "the abortion page," but i decided not to get involved since i have no realy staunch opinion on the matter. Subject change?

I'm going to see Explosions in the Sky TONIGHT. the show starts at 9, but i hear that Explosions doesn't go on until 11 or so. and my friends said that they dont want to go that early or wait around that long. is anyone else going to this concert tonight, and what time would be a good time to actually enter the venue? I'm too tired to make my own decisions. :upset:

Tapeworm 10-08-2004 07:00 AM

Pffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff, just go at 9, and the support band might be really good. You've gotta be there for the build up.

I'm going to see Missy Higgins again tomorrow night and Damien Rice next week. I'm excited. :D

In this situation, I wouldn't suggest the mother try to take care of the baby, I'd suggest that she put it up for adoption.

Sorry to continue this, but I needed to add that in.

Have fun Tapeworm, while I wish I was there :thumb:

/pothead

dont make fun

Tapeworm 10-08-2004 07:56 AM

Sounds like a good idea actually, especially for Explosions. That would be amazing to be high at that.

/doesn't smoke anymore

br3ad_man 10-08-2004 07:56 AM

Have a great show man, and don't get into trouble.

In other news, me and one of my best mates made a pledge to each other than if we ever turn into "that guy" (the one I described on the page before this one), we will cut off each other's balls.

Tomahawk 10-08-2004 08:00 AM

Yeah go at 9. To hell with them.

And to hell with all of you good-concert-goers. I'm not jealous. I'm sure I'll have just as much fun seeing "generic local pop punk cover band #43".

Wanker 10-08-2004 08:17 AM

meh.

them and a perfect circle are the best bands i('ve/will) see(n), anyways.

Zappa 10-08-2004 08:37 AM

Master Arkam Kannon 10-08-2004 08:47 AM

Happymeal 10-08-2004 07:17 PM

*gack*

I wanna go to a gig in downtown Toronto.. It's been forever since I've been to one. I really hope my parents get a job soon, not that I mind being less fortunate than a lot of people in school.
