Each band you have all named will probably soon enough get a spot. Keep in mind that the hall of fame has nor been around as long as you might think. They are still probably trying to enter the obvious canidates.

B0nz0 03-31-2004 08:38 PM

yes i know. i wish i understood how their process of admitting ppl works better. do u happen to know the criteria? also another band i think deserves a slot are the moody blues...

Badmoon 03-31-2004 08:44 PM

^ I have no idea, what I sayed before was just common sense.

B0nz0 03-31-2004 08:45 PM

i think it's on their web site, but i'm too lazy to check now. i'll do it later unless someone wants to do it for me, the url is www.rockhall.com

RockAndRoll 03-31-2004 09:00 PM

"Performers
Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first record. Criteria include the influence and significance of the artist’s contributions to the development and perpetuation of rock and roll.

The Foundation’s nominating committee, composed of rock and roll historians, selects nominees each year in the Performer category. Ballots are then sent to an international voting body of about 1,000 rock experts. Those performers who receive the highest number of votes, and more than 50 percent of the vote, are inducted. The Foundation generally inducts five to seven performers each year."

there you go that's from the site bonzo listed

B0nz0 03-31-2004 09:24 PM

how does one become a rock and roll historian or a rock expert? i want those jobs. much thanx to rock and roll for not making me do that. sorry i'm a lazy bum...

i wish they'd let stevie ray vaughn in. he is a god...

Badmoon 03-31-2004 09:30 PM

^ A good college education and a masters in music would help.

B0nz0 03-31-2004 09:36 PM

lol i'm sure they would. what's in a rock and roll historians job description? they prob just write liner notes to compilation albums lol.

so i've never really listened to rush before, but as i've been drumming for 6 years now, i think it's long past time i start. anyone wanna recomend some cd's? or should i try and find a greatest hits album?

Badmoon 03-31-2004 09:39 PM
lol i'm sure they would. what's in a rock and roll historians job description? they prob just write liner notes to compilation albums lol.
Actually they probably write books, and in magazines.

B0nz0 03-31-2004 09:50 PM

Badmoon 03-31-2004 09:53 PM

^ No clue, I don't care for Rush.

Samsung II 03-31-2004 10:36 PM

Tom Petty will always be my favorite artist.

Gi_Joe_86 04-01-2004 02:14 PM

if you love Classic Rock then you have gotta love The Grateful Dead. such a amazing band!

goodvibrations 04-01-2004 02:53 PM

I do see how you could say that among teenagers there is a revival of interest in classic rock. I see a lot of kids last year that listened to mainstream rock and punk who are moving closer and closer to hardcore classic rock fans.

In my highschool I think I was OG Classic rock, I was all about Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, and the Band going into eight grade, and got a lot of my friends turned onto that stuff. Now I'm going back further into jazz musicians, old blues players, latin jazz, bossa nova, and new stuff like the mars volta and modest mouse. A classic rock band that no one has mentioned yet that is absolutely stunning is Santana circa 1970. Abraxas remains one of the most genius albums ever made, even if his songs now suck you cant deny santana was a genius back in the day.

Badmoon 04-01-2004 04:12 PM

^ Actually Santana has been mentioned several times

VoodooChild 04-01-2004 04:34 PM

The Grateful Dead anyone? *raises hand* ME!!

Favorite member - Jerry, then Bob...

Favorite song - *gasp* I like them all... my favorite ones for right now are "Brown Eyed Woman" and "China Cat Sunflower"...and all of the others

Favorite Album - Dicks Picks, Vol. 4 and American Beauty... and all of the others

thoughts? One of the best bands ever, they had a positive impact on everything. Can't wait 'till summer when I'm gonna be right at one of their concerts....

Edit: Hehe look at my post count 420 hehe...

Badmoon 04-01-2004 04:46 PM

^ Time for my input

Members - Jerry, Pigpen, Phil

Song - Cumberland Blues, Dire Wolf, Sugar Magnolia

Album - 1.) Workingman's Dead 2.) American Beauty, it's a close call

Thoughts - Fabulous, and beyond belief, and underrated.

Funny, I think it is only me and you (Vodoo) and Bonzo, that know and are really into The Grateful Dead on these forums. Though that is probably not exactly true.

B0nz0 04-01-2004 04:58 PM

I'd go for

member - jerry
song - truckin', uncle john's band, straw jack, sugar magnolia, and cumberland blues
album - american beauty
thoughts - no1 really underrates em, everyone i know likes em quite a bit...

B0nz0 04-01-2004 06:07 PM

it would be cool if we could do the same thing with my favorite band the beatles:

favorite member - George Harrison

favorite songs - penny lane, revolution, hey jude, here comes the sun, while my guitar gently weeps

favorite album - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

thoughts - easily the best band of all time. no other band was ever able to put together such a huge amount of songs of the quality that the beatles did. this is why the fab four will always be remembered as the greatest rock band of all time. i don't think anyone will ever pass them.

VoodooChild 04-01-2004 09:58 PM

*gasp* MUAH TURNZ

Favorite Member - Gotta go with my man John

Favorite Song(s) - AAAHHH!!! Too...many...good...songs........Hard...to...choose
Yesterday(it counts), Ticket to Ride, There Are Places I Remember, Imagine All the People(it counts), I Am the Walrus, Here Comes the Sun, Day Tripper, Blackbird, Back in the U.S.S.R., fine, I'll shut up...

Favorite Album - Anything Revolver and past. More specifically ummm White Album

Thought: One of the best bands ever, incredible song writers, influenced music in a huge way, were one of the originators of rock 'n roll, and too many other complements...

Lateralias 04-01-2004 10:49 PM

The Spirit of Radio...from their 1978 album "Permenant Waves".

B0nz0 04-02-2004 12:52 PM

oo we could do that with random classic rock artists for the rest of this thread.

let's do it with the great led zeppelin next

favorite member - john bonham

favorite songs - the ocean, over the hills, stairway (duh), dy'er maker, bron yr aur stomp, and heartbreaker

favorite album - how the west was won, followed closely by IV and physical graphiti

thoughts - the ultimate hard rock band, they just did everything right. plants vocals can get under my skin though, but the instrumentals make up for it.

Badmoon 04-02-2004 01:21 PM

Okay (Keep in mind I don't care for them that much)

Member - Jimmy Page

Song - Misty Mountain Hop, Kashmir

Album - Led Zeppelin II

Thoughts - none

B0nz0 04-02-2004 01:47 PM

this would be awesome if we did it like a game, like the person who comments on the band then posts the next band to comment on . . .
