Tim Armstrong + Avril Lavigne
Word has leaked out that the new single by teen rocker Avril Lavigne (avril-lavigne.com), "Don't Tell Me," contains a co-writing credit for Tim Armstrong of Rancid (rancidrancid.com). After inquiring at Arista Records (arista.com), we have learned that Armstrong has co-written a majority of Under My Skin, Lavigne's new album, alongside Avril herself. Lavigne's PR representative had this to say about the pairing:
"Avril is very excited to be working with Tim Armstrong on her new record, Under My Skin. She is a huge fan of his work with Pink, and after finding out he wrote the song in the shampoo commercial thought that his rebellious, in-your-face attitude was perfect for her raucous style of punk rock. Songs like "How Does It Feel," "Nobody's Here," and her new hit single "Don't Tell Me" showcase Avril and Tim's undeniable chemistry and knack for telling the kids how it really is." Ms. Lavigne's new album is due out on May 25th. No word on when the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are due to show up.

Emery Video
Tooth & Nail Records (toothandnail.com) has posted a video for the Emery song "Walls," the first single off The Weak's End. Click here (toothandnail.com/downloads/emery/walls.mov) to download. (Right click> Save As)

Awesome song, great video...

Crazy Canadians...
In some surprising news today, a Federal court rejected a motion from the CRIA (The Canadian equivalent of the RIAA) to sue Canadian file swappers. The judge ruled: "No evidence was presented that the alleged infringers either distributed or authorized the reproduction of sound recordings. They merely placed personal copies into their shared directories which were accessible by other computer users via a P2P service." He added "I cannot see a real difference between a library that places a photocopy machine in a room full of copyrighted material and a computer user that places a personal copy on a shared directory linked to a P2P service"

He makes an good point.

This is a pretty unheard of event, as the American RIAA has successfully attacked numerous file swappers and convinced the majority of them to settle out of court. However, keep in mind that Canadians currently pay some pretty harsh levies on recorded CD media, portable MP3 players and other devices that could be used to hold music.

A big fuck you to the FCC!
The FCC (who think they know what is good for America) have gone and banned old songs from radiowaves. Songs that contain no offensive content what-so-ever, one of which is Depeche Mode's classic "Personal Jesus." This is a complete violation of the separation of church and state, the song contains nothing offensive to anyone who is not Christian, and most Christians realize the song has nothing to do with Jesus himself, it's a metaphor. However, the religious and conservative groups that control this country don't give a fuck about any of that... their kids saw a tit (they sucked on them as infants, I think they can handle it) and so now they're going to tell us what is and isn't offensive to us. Fuck America... seriously.

If you want to contact the FCC to remind that they're breaking the constitution and taking away your rights, please e-mail them at fccinfo@fcc.gov .

Fugazi? Breaking up? Nah!
This has been through the rumor mill countless times, but contrary to a flood of recent internet postings, Fugazi (http://www.southern.com%2Fsouthern%2Fband%2FFUGAZ) has not broken up. According to several sources Fugazi have actually been in talks with several labels the last months. They have finally landed a deal with the American Group for their next releases. American is part of Island / Def Jam and a member of the Universal Music Group.

Label-founder Rick Rubin says: "I'm making a record with Fugazi, who we signed to American... I think they're a great live band - they have incredible stage presence. And we're helping making album that conveys as much as they have onstage on record. Which I don't think has been done before."

Canada rocks!
So in a big victory for the country and much to the disappointment of record labels everywhere, uploading and downloading MP3s is now legal in Canada. Check out the story HERE (http://www.cbc.ca/stories/print/2004/03/31/canada/download_court040331)

Another Sunny Day?
Here is an exclusive audio stream from ex-Sunny Day Real Estate and current The Fire Theft front man Jeremy Enigk. The stream is exclusive because there is no soundtrack available anywhere, nor are there plans to release it.

Orange County rockers Lit (http://www.www.litlounge.com) have put the finishing touches on their forthcoming self-titled release slated for June 22. Gabe McNair of No Doubt lends his keyboard talents to the track.

Lit will perform at the Zoo Brew Stew show at the Zoo Amphitheater in Phoenix, AZ on April 23 and at Barracuda’s in Portland, OR on May 29. A full itinerary for their summer long nationwide tour will be announced shortly. Here’s the complete track listing for Lit.

Don't be fooled by these news bulletins found on many other sites. Most aren't about punk, but whatever.

Kirk Hammett To Join G&R?
As reported by AF website, Kirk Hammet thinking about joining Guns N' Roses to help them with "Chinese Democracy" album recording. AF representative was able to reach Kirk via phone and asked him to explain his decision.

"I don't like what we did on our latest studio album, "St. Anger". To tell you the thruth, I am understand all those people which blaims us for the lack of solos in it. Yeah, I really do." - said Kirk Hammett of Metallica. "I wrote like fifty to sixty ten-minutes long solo riffs for that album. But Lars [Ulrich] said he is angry for me, because no one can hear his drum beats and enjoy them as much as my solos because my solos are too loud. Anyway, Axl made me a call a few weeks ago and asked me to join GN'R to help with "Chinese Democracy" recording." So, unsatisfaction was one of the main reason for his decision to quit from Metallica for a time.

As we reported recently, Buckethead, GNR's latest solo guitarist, left the band (read "It's Official: Buckethead Left GN'R"), so this spot is free for now. The eccentric musician, who wears a fried-chicken bucket on his noggin and talks only through a hand puppet, has walked out before but has always returned to the fold. This time, however, it looks permanent. At the end of last year, Buckethead became fed up with Guns' inability to complete an album or tour and stopped working with them, his manager said.

No official statement have been made yet, but Kirk looks very positive to joining Guns N' Roses. Probably "Chinese Democracy" will see a daylight soon. Who knows if it will be as good as "Use Your Illusion" or "Black Album". Now it's a matter of a time.

Black Sabbeth Reunion
Ozzy Osbourne has reportedly confirmed that in a radio interview that talks are underway for a possible Black Sabbath reunion. Asked during an interview if there was any truth to reports that Sabbath are in negotiations to reunite, Ozzy replied "I believe so." Surely he'd know, being the lead singer and all?

Speaking to nationally syndicated US radio show 'Rockline' last night (Wednesday 31), Ozzy hinted that the reunion may take place during the stateside leg of this year's travelling festival Ozzfest.

Ozzy couldn't confirm or deny the rumour that ex-Sabbath bassplayer Geezer Butler was once again part of his solo band, explaining he didn't want to give anything away for fear of being shouted at by wife and manager Sharon.

Should Black Sabbath play at this year's Ozzfest it is unconfirmed as to whether they would replace Ozzy as headliners or play separate sets.

It seems unlikely that Ozzfest will make it to the UK this year with the Download Festival returning to Donnington on June 5-6.

The Darkness Sue AC/DC
In a shock turn of events, Brit glam rockers The Darkness are taking AC/DC to court over alleged "riff thefts".

"They just couldn't help themselves could they?" exclaimed The Darkness' singer Justin Hawkins. "'Back In Black'? That's just 'Black Shuck' with a different title innit? As for 'Highway To Hell', well that's just 'Love Is Only A Feeling' speeded up!"

The writ was filed this morning after The Darkness successfully sued Queen on similar grounds.

Jacko for Glastonbury
Xfm reports: On the day that Glastonbury tickets are due to go on sale and following Emily Eavis’ recent claim that the line up includes “Some really special things planned that people don’t know about? comes the news that Michael Jackson will be headlining the event.

Following rumours that Oasis would be joining Paul McCartney as Glastonbury’s second headline act, comes the news that the Prince of Pop Michael Jackson will be topping the bill on the Sunday night of the three day event.

Festival co-organiser Avril Fuule explained:

“We really wanted a special act to finish off the final night of the event and Michael has made himself available - legal problems permitting - to fill the top slot. I must say that Michael has been very enthusiastic about the event, not only offering his services for the Main Stage but also expressing a definate interest in performing in the Children's Field too.?

Reports claim that Jackson’s performance will be his most theatrical ever. The stage itself will be flanked by two 40ft statues of space baboons made entirely of pencil shavings and mice.

Jackson will be carried onstage on the shoulders of a giant Ragi Omar marionette before climbing onto a shrimp-operated hydraulic ramp that will catapult the singer three miles outside the festival site to a church hall in Frome. When there he will perform a selection to his greatest hit accompanied by Gene’s Martin Rossiter on the arse trumpet.

Orange County rockers Lit (http://www.www.litlounge.com) have put the finishing touches on their forthcoming self-titled release slated for June 22. The first single “Looks Like They Were Right? will ship to modern rock radio in early May. The first 100,000 units of Lit will include a free, limited edition DVD that features never-before-seen live footage and other exclusive material of the band.

With well over 30 songs in the can, A.Jay, Jeremy, Kevin and Allen hit the road last October and asked their fans to help them pick which songs should make it on the new album. After narrowing the list to 13 tracks, some of the standout tracks that made it on Lit include the crunching “Needle and Thread? with guitar work by Jon Devoto of The Matches, “Bulletproof? and the tender ballad, “Lullaby? which was written by guitarist Jeremy Popoff for his son Jake.

Too Fast For a U-Turn
Looks Like They Were Right
Needle & Thread
Times Like This
Throwaway
Forever Begins Right Now
Moonshine
Allright
Lullaby
Hard To Find
All or Nothing
Pictures of You
Bulletproof

That's awesome...

We Stand Yellow
Yellowcard's (http://www.yellowcardrock.com/) album, Where We Stand, is now available over at Takeover Records and at your local record store.

I want to buy it. :)

Helloradio
Man, titles for Hellogoodbye (http://www.hellogoodbye.net) are easy to make! Anyway, they have 2 acoustic songs up on their site which they played on Chapman Radio.

I'm going to listen to those.

Punktastic or what!
Punktastic (http://www.punktastic.com/) Recordings is pleased to announce that its first release, 'Punktastic Un-Scene', will be co-released by a larger label. The deal will mean the CD, due out in August, will be available in all the high street retailers, such as HMV, Virgin and Tower, as well as mainland Europe, USA and Japan. We have decided to keep the identity of our partner label quiet at this time. The CD will feature brand new songs from the likes of My Awesome Compilation, Tanaou, Not Katies, The Killerest Expression and Sonic Boom Six among others, and will be available for around £5.

Already posted... I've never heard any of those bands mentioned. :)

Don't worry though, I have broadband and it starts up with Windows so if I am not online on MX try it anyway. If not, don't be too bummed out about it. To anyone who doesn't know, it works exactly like a website. Right click > Save Target As. Simple, eh?

Folders up so far:

Original headline. ^^^

Well it's past noon in our neck of the woods so we'll let the few angry gullible people who didn't read their calendars relax (to the swift ones who are still posting angry comments, that means "THIS WAS OUR APRIL FOOLS JOKE"). Tim probably hates us now.

The writ was filed this morning after The Darkness successfully sued Queen on similar grounds.
stupid glam rockers. because the darkness has been around for soooooooo much longer than AC/DC and Queen

Lollapalooza will be returning for it's 9th year this year, and will be doing something a bit unexpected - they'll be turning the festival into a two-day event. Confirmed mainstage acts thus far include Morrissey (morrissey-solo.com), Sonic Youth (sonicyouth.com), Flaming Lips (flaminglips.com), Modest Mouse (modestmousemusic.com), The Polyphonic Spree (thepolyphonicspree.com), and String Cheese Incident (stringcheeseincident.com). This year’s festival takes place over the weekend of August 27-29 at Richfield Avenue, Reading and Bramham Park, Wetherby, West Yorkshire. For tickets and updates check out the Reading (http://www.readingfestival.com/) and Leeds (http://www.leedsfestival.com/) websites.

Fat Mike on the Radio

After 7 years the seal has been broken. A previously silenced Mr. Fat Mike of NOFX (nofx.org) / Fat Wreck Chords (fatwreck.com) recently sat down with Kevin & Gordon of Chicago’s [all ages radio] to speak of politics, parties and 'punx'. At midnight tonight [CST], the icon will speak to the world through the powers of allagesradio.com. You Chicagoans out there merely need to tune your FM dials to 89.1, sit back, smile and learn. Crazy? Yeah. But the excitement of April does not stop here for this four-hour, commercial free, punk rock radio show. Next Friday night will feature exclusive audio with Tim and Lars of Rancid. Put it in your palm pilot.

NOFX and Sick of It All DVDs

New School Videos.net have just added live DVD's of NOFX and Sick Of It All to their online catalog, and they look amazing. Swing over to www.newschoolvideos.net (newschoolvideos.net) to check them out (you can even download Quick Time movie previews).

Name Taken updates.

A whole bunch of things have been brewing for the kids of Name Taken, so sit tight and read up. The band's newest effort for Fiddler, Hold On, will hit shelves on April 13th. In support of the record, the band has shot a video for their single, "Control," and a bunch of photos from the shoot can be snagged here (http://www.atticusclothing.com/images/news/030704_8.jpg); the video itself will be on the way soon. An E-Card (http://www.nametakenmusic.com/) is also up at Name Taken's website where you can preview five of the tracks off of the new CD and get yourself excited for the release. Finally, the album cover and a bunch of new photos of the band are posted for your viewing pleasure, so get on the move and get your Name Taken now.

River City Rebels To Record

Beautiful losers, the River City Rebels, head into Loho Studios on the Lower East Side on Monday, April 5th to record their new album, "Hate To Be Loved" with producer Sylvain Sylvain. As longtime fans of the New York Dolls, the sessions are a dream come true, and the Rebels are bringing songs to the table that can hold up to scrutiny from the legend. Rock n' roll songs like "Dreamy 17" and "I'm So Vain" bring nihilism that has always been part of the Rebels to a new height of sleazy glory; "Die Young" and "No Easy Way Out" dissect an exquisite hopelessness. "Hate To Be Loved" is out this fall - meet the Rebels on the road, all summer long. For up to the minute info, stay tuned to the bands official site (http://www.rivercityrebels.com/).

Anatomy Of A Ghost New Release & Video

Anatomy Of A Ghost will begin work on their forthcoming sophomore effort, Celebrations Of A Sky Blue Life, on May 17th with producer John Goodmanson (Vaux, Hot Hot Heat). The band will be previewing new songs from the effort on the Dance Or Die! Tour. In other news, Anatomy Of A Ghost will be filming a video for their new track "Watermark Run" on April 1st at the Chain Reaction in Anaheim, CA with director Brian Dale (Thrice, Fear Before The March Of Flames). The video will be filmed during the show, which is the kick off date of the Dance Or Die! Tour. The tour is being sponsored by Radiotakeover.com (http://www.radiotakeover.com/), and also features The Beautiful Mistake, Emery, and The AKAs. Something Extra
The Yellowcard (http://www.yellowcardrock.com) / Something Corporate (http://www.somethingcorporate.com) tour has been extended by one day. They will now be playing a 2nd show at the Electric Factory in Philly, PA on May 2nd, in addition to May 1st. Get your tickets now, cause you know they are hot.

'A' Was For Anthem
Less Than Jake's (http://www.lessthanjake.com) b side record has tentatively been titled 'B' Is For B-Side. It's in the mixing stages and looks like it will contain 10 songs.

Once, Twice, Thrice...
On the upcoming Civic tour (with Dashboard Confessional (http://www.dashboardconfessional.com)), Thrice (http://www.thrice.net/) will apparently be playing 3-5 acoustic songs followed by 7-9 electric.

An excerpt from a recent interview with Riley courtesy of waterispoison.com

Then in May and June we’re doing the tour with Dashboard Confessional and The Get Up Kids which I read on the message board that people are unhappy about, but I don’t really care what they think. It's cool in the 'hardcore circle' or in the 'punk circle' or whatever, to hate Dashboard Confessional, and I can honestly say that I don't have any of his records and that I'm not a huge fan, but he's an awesome guy. He's come out to a ton of our shows and has always been super supportive of us. It's cool for 'hardcore' kids to think that Dashboard sucks.. and I can guarantee you that there are probably 45 0r 50% of the people that are like "Aw this tour suckkks" - they have a dashboard record. I've been to Dashboard shows, and his shows are awesome. He's there playing acoustic with thousands of kids singing along; and it's so loud that you almost can't hear one thing. It's definitely going to be cool to be a part of that. We're going to be doing 3 or 4 songs acoustic, I think, so it's giving us an opportunity to try something new. Doing that apple store show that we did - it was really fun.. and it's cool to take songs that are really heavy and aggressive and try to tone them down and give them a different presentation. So.. it's cool, and we see it as a challenge. It would be boring if we played with the same bands all the time. Granted there are people that are not gonna like the bands we play with, but we do things because we're always down with a new challenge and we want to try something different. This is something that we knew would probably piss a lot of people off. . but I don't want to do what people expect us to do. . I don't want to be predictable. And.. I think that the Get Up Kids are awesome.. so It'll be cool to play with them.

Take It Back To Sunday
When Taking Back Sunday (http://www.takingbacksunday.com) completed their fall tour with Saves The Day, there were high fives all around. After they bid farewell to their tight bro's, they began to look to the future. The obvious next step was to have their bodies cryogenically frozen and genetic doubling completed, so that they could move on to phrase three.

The men of Taking Back Sunday emerged from their pods refreshed, with a new sense of purpose. Secure in the knowledge that should mid-air disaster occur, their cryogenic replacements would march to the fore, they boarded a plane bound for Bombay. Once on the ground in the ancient city, Taking Back Sunday made a beeline for the hottest producer/re-mixer/lifestyle coach of the moment. Of course, you guess correctly, the Dali Lama himself.

As spiritual as he is fresh, the DL brings mad beats and lessons of karmic balance to Taking Back Sunday. Despite his vow to change the band completely and alienate their entire fanbase, the new songs are said to be both spiritual and hard partying. With great joy, the band announces that the new record will be in your presence in July, 2004.

Pennylate
Pennywise (http://www.pennywisdom.com) recently taped a live performance for The Late Show With Craig Kilborn and we have just found out that it will air on Wednesday, April the 7th! Make sure to catch this show because it's sure to be a great one!

Out of the shadows comes...
Zac Hunter (Nerve Agents, The Frisk), Greg McEntee and Kevin Wickersham (Swingin' Utters (http://www.swinginutters.com)), Andrew Champion (Screw 32), and Ryan Blasquez (The Silent Film Stars) have formed a new San Francisco-based band called Shadowboxer. The band has begun recording a full length album to be released this summer on a label still to be determined. They will begin playing around the Bay Area in late April, and tour the west coast in June/July.

Metalligone
Elektra Records is history. Yup, you heard me. It's bad karma for releasing "St Anger".

Bombs away
Tsunami Bomb's (http://www.tsunamibomb.com) website announced the band's new album "The Definitve Act" will hit stores on July 13th. This reporter always loves hearing new music from bands with a great female lead singer, so life will be grand that day.

TBS 2 Years On
What do you get for lasting two years on the Billboard New Artist Chart?RETIRED! Taking Back Sunday now joins a very exclusive club of artists who, after bubbling under on the New Artist Chart for two years, are moved to the Top Catalog chart, where it can compete against Poison's Greatest Hits and various Yanni albums. Ah, the price of success.

Taking Back Sunday's "Tell All Your Friends" released on Victory Records March 26, 2002 and proceeded to live on the New Artist (Heatseeker) Chart in Billboard for two years straight, scanning 339,324 units to date. The albumcontinues to scan over 2500 every week in defiance of the status quo that loosely governs the "life of a project". Taking Back Sunday peaked at #9 on the Heatseeker Chart, #8 on the Top Independent Label Chart, and #6 on the Alternative New Artist Chart. Their appearance at #183 on the Top 200 Chart is sure to be eclipsed on the release of their new album in July.

Apparently The Swingin' Utters will join Epoxy as NOFX support on their UK tour

The Empire has leaked!
Bad Religion’s new album The Empire Strikes First is leaking on numerous file sharing networks. Epitaph will release some songs in the coming months, so if you wanna wait at least download a taster. I will try and put the album up ASAP for any hardbcore BR fans out there.

EDIT: I am downloading this RIGHT NOW! It will be up as soon as possible

Bloody studio!
Billboard is reporting that the Blood Brothers are in the studio with John Goodmanson recording the follow up to last years Burn Piano Island, Burn. The band is still planning to release the record on ArtistDirect.

Fat Mike not so silent anymore
After 7 years the seal has been broken. A previously silenced Mr. Fat Mike of NOFX / FAT wreck chords recently sat down with Kevin & Gordon of Chicago’s [all ages radio] to speak of politics, parties and punx. At midnight tonight, the icon will speak to the world through the powers of www.allagesradio.com.

Beautiful album
Click HERE ('http://www.themilitiagroup.com/beautiful_mistake/load.html) to preview The Beautiful Mistake's new album. That's right, the WHOLE album. Have fun anyway.

Leaving Through The Studio
Andrew of Something Corporate tells www.teenspot.com in an interview in Seattle last Friday that work on a new record will begin in May or June

Three's A Crowd
Three live videos have been added to the recently redesigned www.uselessdivision.com. Videos include Recover - My Only Cure, Recover - Push Push, and a Thrice acoustic cover of Elvis Costello's Radio, Radio.

The Return Of The Reggie
The re-release of the Reggie and the Full Effect Greatest Hits 84-87 album is very much worth picking up on April 20th if you don't already own it. The song "The Return of the Blings" is one of the first "slow cliched emo love" songs of the year that has made me all mushy ..

Rockin' On The Farm
The WMLU Bandfest 2004 (Longwood University in Farmville, VA) lineup has been announced. This year's festival will feature Something Corporate, Yellowcard, The Format, Adelyn, and Carbon Leaf. This is one of the best shows that will hit Virginia all year and the best part is, it's free!

Down, Down, Down
It's been confirmed that 'Down' is the next single off of Blink 182's Self-Titled album. Filming for the video will occur shortly and Tom wants to "go huge" with this one. They will be releasing "way more" singles off of the album, as opposed to the normal run of 3 as well. The band have said that Easy Target, Always and Stockholm Syndrome will NOT be released, but they are considering a fourth single.

Khain Reaction
The other night at The Ataris show at Chain Reaction Kris said that sometime this summer they will be doing a show at Chain Reaction where they play the whole Anywhere But Here album. He also said that they will be recording their new record this July, and also said that before it comes out they will be doing a small tour of small clubs, like the Chain Reaction.

Format this
The Format will also be appearing on dates for the Honda Civic Tour with Dashboard Confessional, Thrice and The Get Up Kids. They will be playing at Arizone, Irvine CA, Dallas , Austin and Houston.

Rock Against Bush
As you all probably know by now The Rock Against Bush compilation is to be released by Fat Wreck Chords on April 20th and will be the first of two volumes. The great people at fatwreck.com have now released some new media for the upcoming album. Click on the links below to get the good stuff:

Rock Against Bush E-Card (http://www.fatwreck.com/junk/rab.html)

Jello Biafra Welcome (http://www.fatwreck.com/rab/Audio/Jello-RAB-ID1.mp3)

Fat Mike Interview (KWOD) (http://www.fatwreck.com/rab/Audio/FatMike_KWOD.mp3)

The music in the e-card sounds like Descendents - Sad State Of Affairs which is a new song, but you can reload the e-card to hear a different song. I'm not sure what it is, if anyone knows post it up quoting this text.

EDIT: I think it is The Epoxies - Need More Time, but don't take my word yet. Also, after reloading a third time you can hear Anti-Flag's new song for the comp The School Of Assassins

Distillers drummer rips on Jet!
Distillers drummer Andy Granelli launched a verbal assault on Australian rockers Jet during an interview with the Ottawa Sun Thursday (April 1). While admitting that the Distillers aren't the "most original" or "best" band in the world, Granelli blurted, "I don't know how these crappy cover bands posing as new bands, like Jet or Kings Of Leon can take themselves seriously...(Jet) have that new single out now and you can count on one hand all the different songs in that one song.

There's a Stones song in there; there's half of a Beatles song in there...and you go, 'Come on! I know you're from Australia and you probably don't get a lot of stuff out there, but please, this sucks!'"

Jet has been the victim of barbs before this, most notably from the Strokes.

Despite his tirade, Granelli says that the L.A.-based Distillers are not as angry as they seem to be: "I guess there's something about us that makes people think that we're really angry or pissed off. Maybe we are, but I don't really notice it. Maybe we're just scary people."

Uproared
From Static Press: We are pleased to announce The Uproar Stage, a sidestage for 34 dates at The Vans Warped Tour '04. This stage was created to place all of your favorite (and soon to be favorite) bands daily beginning in Canada July 13th and continuing on until the final date in Boston August 19th.

Confirmed bands include Noiseratchet (American Records), Boys Night Out (Ferret), A Wilhelm Scream (Nitro), Lightweight Holiday (Porterhouse), Staring Back (Lobster), Facing New York, Armor for Sleep (Equalvision), Before Braille (Sunset Alliance), As Tall as Lions (Triple Crown Records), Haste the Day, Salt the Earth (Anxiety Records), The Working Title (Universal), Fear Before the March of Flames (Equalvision), Bear Vs. Joe Strummer Film Release

A new film on Joe Strummer (http://www.strummersite.com/) will premiere at next month at the New York's Tribeca Film Festival. Strummer and his friend actor/filmmaker Dick Rude had initially planned to make a film about the release of 2001's Global a Go-Go. Rude filmed Strummer's promotional efforts for the record including a fall 2002 tour in Japan. The footage has been made into a film titled Let's Rock Again!.

Strummer's passing early in post-production sidelined the film until now, but Rude told Rolling Stone in an interview that he forced himself to stay true to the original concept. "It was suggested that I should do something retrospective... But I thought that would be wrong, because it's not what we set out to do." You can find the full interview at Rolling Stone (http://www.rollingstone.com/news/newsarticle.asp?nid=19565).

The Git who killed The Git is convicted!
Thursday morning a jury in a Seattle court convicted Jesus Mezquia of first degree murder in the 1993 death of punk singer Mia Zapata. Zapata was 27 at the time and fronting up and coming Seattle punk band The Gits. On July 7th 1993, after returning from a successful tour of the US west coast Zapata was beaten, raped and strangled, with her body was dumped in an alley in Seattle's Central Area.

Police arrested Mezquia, 48, in Florida in 2002. DNA evidence linked him to the killing. No sentencing date has been set at this time. The killing spurred the creation of the Home Alive anti-violence/pro-self-defense organization, as well as the band Evil Stig, which was the surviving members of The Gits fronted by Joan Jett.

Alternative Tentacles artists like Jello Biafra and Zen Guerilla donated tracks to various Home Alive compilations over the years. We're all very happy that the person responsible for this murder has been convicted and hope that similar violent, hateful crimes happen less and less in the future.

Beastie Boys get political!
The Beastie Boys blend politics with party time on "To the 5 Boroughs," the New York-based rap trio's first album since 1998's "Hello Nasty." The 15-track set is due this summer via Capitol, to be preceded by album-opening first single "Ch-Check It Out." The group is expected to tour in support of the release and has already confirmed Aug. 7-8 appearances at Japan's Summer Sonic Festival.

"To the 5 Boroughs" is loaded with political commentary as expected, including calls to vote President Bush out of office and critiques of U.S. foreign policy. On "Time To Build," Adam Yauch (MCA) raps, "We've got a president we didn't elect / the Kyoto treaty he decided to neglect / and still the U.S. just wants to flex." On "That It's That All," the group demands, "'cause George W's got nothing on me / we've got to take the power from he."

A Thorn For Every Label
A Thorn For Every Heart has signed to Kickball / Interscope Records. They announced it on their website last night. They will hit the studio in May to start tracking for the new record. Also, they will be on tour with Moments In Grace and From First To Last on their way to Skate And Surf Fest. After that the Warped Tour Kick Off with Taking Back Sunday at House Of Blues then into the studio eying a 2005 release.

VGS one man down
Voodoo Glow Skulls have updated their website with news that Mason has left the band. His father has been ill so he's returned home to stay with his family. The band is looking for new horn players and you can email them if you're interested in the gig. Original VGS trumpeter Joe McNally recently played some shows with the band prior to in-progress Mexican tour with Los Kung Fu Monkeys. Voodoo Glow Skulls have a new full length scheduled in September or October on Victory Records.

Taking Back Sunday recording
Taking Back Sunday and Victory Records are pleased to announce that a July 2004 release is planned for their sophomore album. After spending the early part of the year writing and arranging their new songs, some of which were written while on their previous tour and some newly penned, they signed Lou Giordano on as producer.

Famous for his work with Sugar, Husker Du, Sunny Day Real Estate and Belly, Giordano’s innovative spirit, tremendous experience and faith in the band won them over and created an electric work environment in the studio. Guitarist and founding member Eddie Reyes adds “recording with Lou is like being in school again because he is a teacher and you learn so much from him.?

“The new album is still very Taking Back Sunday but more mature and more rock and roll,? continues Reyes. “I know every band says that but for real, it’ll kick you in the balls. The first record was written for fun and the love of music, no expectations. Even though it’s done more than we ever expected, I still tried to go into the second record the same exact way. We’re all here to have fun, hopefully the audience will enjoy it and feel the same way.?

Giordano adds “This was one of the most enjoyable recording experiences I've ever had. It amazes me that these guys were able to bring together such diverse musical backgrounds and form a cohesive vision that not only meets but surpasses their previous efforts. There's a wide variety of song styles, some with the signature Taking Back Sunday sound and some heading in totally new directions. It’s an honor to work with these guys on one of the most anticipated albums of 2004.?

After wrapping up recording on the east coast some time in April, Taking Back Sunday will headline this year’s annual sold-out Skate and Surf Festival in New Jersey on April 17 before starting a month of dates supporting Blink-182 and Cypress Hill throughout May. Next they head to the UK for their first trip outside North America to play the Donnington Download Festival with Metallica and continue on a string of soon to be sold-out headlining dates including two shows at London’s legendary Astoria. The band then returns to the US as one of this year’s headliners on the Vans Warped Tour 10th anniversary trek beginning in Houston TX on June 25 and concluding in Boston, MA on August 19.

Bandit Birds!
The RxBandits and Finch played an acoustic and a Police cover (Genie In A Bottle) a while back at The Chain Reaction. Bandvideos.tk (http://www.bandvideos.tk) are there for the whole thing, go check it out.

Pump Up The Volume, AMP!
AMP Magazine (http://www.ampmagazine.com/) has updated the page for the month of April. Check out a cover story on the Dropkick Murphys, as well as interviews with the legendary Leatherface, Matchbook Romance, The Get Up Kids, Sugarcult, and many more.

In the Blink of an eye... Part 1
Blink-182's Brisbane, Australia Show has been rescheduled again from Monday September 13th 2004 to Friday September 3rd.

Warped CD
Sherwood will be featured on Broken Line Record's Warped Tour compliation with the featured track "The Summer Sends It's Love". The CD features acts such as Boys Night Out, Halifax, The Spill Canvas, Yellowcard, Days Like These, Park, Never Heard of It, The Goodwill and Army of Freshmen. It will be released on July 1st at the Fullerton, CA Warped Tour and be sold at every Warped Tour date from then on.

Finch on the horizons
Last night at the Finch, Counterfit, Beta Factor and The Fall Project show in San Diego, Finch played 7 new songs, and they only mentioned the name of one of them which was titled 'Ink.' Marc from Counterfit was handling drumming duties for them as well. Also, don't forget these guys are playing The Glasshouse in Pomona, CA tonight.

Deconstruction 2004: The Lowdown!
OK, a little clarification on Deconstruction in London. The event will now be at Brixton Academy on June 6 after Alexandra palace became double-booked. It is hoped the moto-x will take place in a nearby park, subject to a license. The bill, for the London show only, is as follows: Pennywise, Lagwagon, Anti-Flag, MxPx, Pulley, Strike Anywhere, 1208, The Movement and Red Tape. A UK band is also expected to be added. Tickets are due to go on sale next week. As the date has moved from June 5 to 6, some bands can now no longer play in the UK. The Slackers have a previously arranged gig in Belgium and so cannot play; The Beatsteaks and Yellowcard are playing Rock am Ring and so cannot play either. Sum 41 are playing the Lille, France, date ONLY. Pennywise will headline with Lagwagon on before them, despite other posted line-ups.

In the Blink of an eye... Part 2
For those of you who knew, Blink 182 have cancelled their planned September UK tour. Most of you possibly didn't even know it was going ahead, but anyway, it's now not, so don't believe any rumours you may hear!

This past Monday, at the Every Time I Die show in Georgia, things got a little out of hand and security guards were getting too pushy and some dude decided to fend for the crowd by beating the security guards with bar stools. The new Rory (http://www.111records.com/rory.html) EP, Always Right As In We Are, should be out late May to early June, and the tracklisting is below. How good is the EP? Well, basically it's going to take alot for me to find a more promising debut EP. 111 Records will never cease to amaze me. Think Northstar, a tinge of dark-pop, add what Chris Fudurich is famous for doing, and remove what I am known for liking. This EP will make waves, mark my words.

1) Deja Vroom
2) This Could Have Been a Dance Dance Revolution, But Now It's Just a Dance
3) Conversations With Strangers
4) Packed More Trunks Than The New Jersey Mob
5) The Sick 600

Heh, I like the song titles...

*yawn* Man, I'm freakin bored so I'll add some more stuff.

The anthology will contain greatest hits, exclusive unreleased tracks, rare b-sides, covers, videos, and exclusive live footage from one of indie rocks' most influential music groups. New stuff
So, as some people know I am trying to host some new records and demos coming out and also some rarities if anyone asks. The address is:

http://81.103.3.239/

The username is kif and the password is mx but be warned; it won't work if I am not online. Don't worry though, I have broadband and it starts up with Windows so if I am not online on MX try it anyway. If not, don't be too bummed out about it. To anyone who doesn't know, it works exactly like a website. Right click > Save Target As. Simple, eh?

Folders up so far:
Bad Religion - The Empire Strikes First (3 Demos)
Senses Fail - Let It Enfold You (Full album)
The Ataris - Live At The Metro (Full album and promo video)
New Found Glory - All Downhill From Here (Single)

I can't get it to work even when you're online on mx. It just says page not found

Milo Goes Into Politics
As I was searching around the Internet, I cam across the lyrics for the new Descendents song featured on the Rock Against Bush compilation being released later this month. Here are the lyrics:

Sad State of Affairs

It’s such a sad state of affairs, and I don’t care
A sad state of affairs
It’s such a sad state of affairs – I don’t care

Look at things long enough until they go away
But they’re still there, aren’t they?
And each little insect doesn’t make me angry
And the dirt in the sink gets washed down the drain

It’s such a sad state of affairs, and I don’t care
A sad state of affairs
This place could use a little repair – I don’t care

The TV on the table says listen to me hum
I sit on the sofa with my mind all numb
And each little murderer doesn’t make me angry
And the dirt in the sink gets washed down the drain

Follow the flow, wherever it goes
Down the drain, and everything’s clean
Follow the blood, where is the blood?
Washed away, away from the scene

Use your time and memorize the lullaby of the day
Process the data and throw it away
And each little question doesn’t get me thinking
And the lies of my life still buzz around my brain

If anyone can find lyrics to the other songs featured on the compilation, send them in. Full track list is on Fat Wreck (http://www.fatwreck.com).

Sum new songs
According to Deryck Whibley, his band's next album is greater than the sum of its parts.

"It's our most everything record," the Sum 41 singer said. "It's the heaviest we've ever done, but at the same time it's the lightest record we've ever done. It's the perfect mix of our last two records: It's really aggressive, like the last record, but I don't think we sacrificed any melody or anything catchy from the first record."

Whibley, guitarist Dave Baksh, bassist Cone McCaslin and drummer Steve Jocz have written several songs — "Welcome to Hell," "Open Your Eyes," "88" and "Some Say," among them — and are recording in a Toronto studio with producer Greig Nori.

Yeah I can never get it to work either.
I don't leave it on all the time. Mainly because it slows my computer. People on MX know about it, and somehow people on Absolutepunk.net know about it too. Plus some people on MSN know about it too, and people are allowed 5 downloads per IP. I might change it so only 1 or 2 downloads are available per IP at a time, or I might just change the user name.

As for now, I have a few Hellogoodbye demos up, and I'm looking for My Chemical Romance's new album.

Okay I understand. Could you let me(us) know when it is up by posting so in the Discussion thread or something?

I'll try and make a little timetable to say what time I generally get online. I have Broadband so the second I turn it on I'm online. Also, I'll try to log onto AIM/MSN when I get online too so you know straight away, but I have a sort of not-so-legal copy of Trillian Pro, and it doesn't work when you change it to "Start with Windows". I'll do my best anyway

Joel: Me and Benji are never satisfied with our songs
Good Charlotte's Madden brothers are hard to please. Even though hits like "Lifestyles Of The Rich And Famous" and "Girls And Boys" helped their last album, The Young And The Hopeless, sell more than 2.8 million copies, the Madden brothers say the tunes just weren't good enough for them.

"Me and Benji are never satisfied with the songs we write," Joel admitted. "Truthfully, we've never loved anything we've written so far. We're always chasing the song that one day we'll really love."

The Maddens and their bandmates are currently pursuing pop-punk's perfect wave in a Los Angeles studio, where they're recording their third album with producer Eric Valentine, who also helmed The Young And The Hopeless. "We've written a few songs so far that I really like," he said, citing new tunes called "Falling Away" and "We Believe" as examples, "but so far nothing I really love."

Although it's still early in the process, Joel is keeping details about the songs close to his chest.

"A lot of these songs are really personal and about what's been happening in my life," he said. "And I'm kind of going to let it be a secret until the record comes out. Kids are going to be able to see what's going on in all of our lives, and how being on the road for 20 straight months affected us.

"Everything that's happened to us in the last two years went into these songs," he continued. "It'll be easy to tell what each song is about. It won't be tricky."

While he's cagey when it comes to the new album's lyrics and themes, the Good Charlotte singer promises musical growth.

"Musically, our abilities are a lot more than what they were on The Young And The Hopeless because we've been on the road for two years. So the music has a little more depth, and it also goes in some different directions. Some of our fans might be a little thrown off at first, but when it comes down to lyrics and melodies, I don't think they'll be disappointed."

Good Charlotte hit the studio armed with 16 to 18 songs, and they plan to keep writing and recording until they play the first five dates of the Vans Warped Tour, which begins June 25 in Houston (see "New Found Glory, Bad Religion Get Warped; Itinerary Set"). The still-untitled album is expected to drop in September.

Steel Train can't decide

Last night at the Steel Train show, I(not me, the guy from AP) talked with Jack and Evan and they said that the new album should be coming out in July. The reason for the delay is because they're disputing weither to release it on Drive-Thru or Geffen.

Rx Bandits' DVD

The Rx Bandits' Live DVD (Vol. 1, indicating further volumes may be on the way) is up for preorder at MDBRecords for a cool $12. The Lights Aren't Alright
Last night was memorable at The Offspring show. After the fourth song, all of the lights and sound went out, and people started to leave in anger. With only security and emergency power to light, they rocked out the rest of their set. Props to the band for making the best of a bad situation.

You Americans are so lucky!
The big acts for this year's HFStival (99.1 WHFS - Washington, DC) have all been announced and they are: The Offspring, O.A.R, Papa Roach, P.O.D, Lostprophets, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Jay-Z, Yellowcard, The Violent Femmes, Cypress Hill, New Found Glory, Modest Mouse, The Living End, Jimmie's Chicken Shack, and Taking Back Sunday. The smaller acts will be announced soon.

The Boys Of Law
The Ataris and Unwritten Law are having a free show at Loyola Marymount University Sunken Gardens. It is this Saturday April 17th at 5PM. During the concert LMU's De Colores will also be having a taco sale fundraiser. De Colores is a program that partners with residents of Tijuana, Mexico. Students travel once a month to Mexico to work on community building projects such as building homes, schools, and orphanages. So come by to enjoy a free concert and don't forget to by some tacos to help out a good cause.

No Worries
Taking Back Sunday will be playing 99.1 WHFS' HFStival (Washington, DC) this year on May 22nd, but don't worry, they'll still hop in a van and make it to their show in Pittsburgh with Blink 182 and The Used.

TBS New Album
Last night at their benefit show, Taking Back Sunday announced they have finished recording the new album and supposedly it will be entitled "Where You Want To Be".

Funeral For FFAF?
Funeral For A Friend are said to be in the running for a slot on the second stage of this years "Projekt Revolution" Tour, which will feature Linkin Park, Korn, Snoop Dogg and The Used performing on the main stage. D12 will reportedly be headlining the second stage of the tour, while Downset. and another as yet to be confirmed act are also expected to appear on the aforementioned stage

Good riddance Good Riddance!
Luke Pabich of Good Riddance wrote an entire full-length album, and then started to look for some extra musicians to form the new band Outlie where apart from playing the guitar he'll be doing the vocals as well. First to be recruited was bassist Jesse Darling, formerly of the Lonely Kings. After a year of collaboration, Luke and Jesse enlisted the drumming talent of Sean Sellers (Kidney Thieves, ex-Downset and Luke's former band-mate in Good Riddance).

With "Companions to Devils and Saints" in the can, the band went to their friend, A-list producer and mixer Ryan Greene and asked him to "sprinkle a little fairy dust on the bastard". The result can be witnessed when the album hits stores through Porterhouse Records on May 4th.

The band's website is still in the works, but you can gather some more info and listen to an mp3 through Porterhouse's page for the band HERE (http://porterhouserecords.com/html/outlie.shtml).

What It Is To Bootleg
You can hear some new Finch songs from the live bootleg of their recent show at The Glasshouse, Pomona CA at Sharpening Beneath, but for your pleasure I've put the link here (http://www.sharpeningbeneath.com/b_pamona.php). No doubt the bootleg will go soon so I'm downloading it and putting it on the Downloads page.

MattSharpIsStillCool
Matt Sharp, former Weezer bassist and Rentals frontman, is about to release a new solo album that should surprise fans of his previous bands.

Sharp told Billboard.com that while he was touring for the 1999 Rentals album Seven More Minutes, "...there was a point where I looked into my CD collection and realized that most of the music that I was listening to wasn't the same kind of music that I was writing and performing." This turned out to be darker country music such as Willie Nelson and not the new wave sounds of The Rentals.

Sharp ended up renting a house in a small town in Tennessee, along with former Cake guitarist Greg Brown and producer Josh Hager to record the stark new album. Sharp's upcoming album will be sold online as of April 15 and in stores on May 4. You can hear the song "Just Like Movie Stars" on his official website, www.mattsharp.net.

Make A Move?
Could THIS (http://img12.photobucket.com/albums/v31/sparklar/B0001ZXP3S.jpg) be the cover of the new Lostprophets single Wake Up (Make A Move)? Still no words on B-sides, I am expecting maybe the acoustic tracks they did for the radio stations they played.

checking in with Hot Water Music

"We're going to do just a few gigs this summer after we get done recording. We'll be heading out with our good buds in Thrice, along with The Get Up Kids and Dashboard Confessional for about a week of shows in June. They're listed here on the site, so check them out if you're at all interested in coming out. We're going on first and not playing for too awful long, so get there on time if you want to see us.

As for the new record, it's slated for a Sep 21 release as of now and we're sticking to it. There should be a few shows down here in the FLA the week that it comes out and then we're heading out on a full US tour in October with--as it stands right now--our homies in Engine Down and Planes Mistaken For Stars. Should be a blast."

If you're listening, WOAH!
In case you were wondering, Jimmy Eat World has been shacked up at Rainbow Recording Studios in Tucson, Arizona working on the follow up to the platinum "Bleed American." Engineer/Producer Gil Norton (Pixies, Foo Fighters, Dashboard Confessional) and the band have been there for a few weeks now.

November never came so Early
Rumor has it that Jeff is back in The Early November. People are saying that the band announced it at the S&S. More info to come soon.

EDIT: From The Early November's site:

Okay...so here's the deal.
Apr 18 2004
There has been a lot going on with The Early November this past week. I'll try to explain.
Jeff felt he needed some time off and was also questioning his future with the band. We respected this and decided to let him take the tour off and have Matt (our tour manager / sound engineer) fill-in. After the first night of tour with Less Than Jake, Jeff called and said he would not be returning to the band. We were devestated. We didnt want to continue on the tour (even though Matt was/is doing great), we didnt even know if we could continue as a band. Jeff completes The Early November...something is missing without him. After a few shows we started to feel better, although still upset about Jeff leaving, we decided we would just grin and bear it and start the inevitable process of looking for a new drummer. A few more days go by, and we get another call by Jeff. He says he made a mistake by leaving the band and asks to comeback. We said yes. He will start touring again with us this summer on the Warped Tour.

To make a long story short: Jeff left the band. Jeff rejoined the band.

Amity-ville
Danni Valencia, former drummer of Name Taken, is now the new drummer of Amity. Johnny has left the band to go back to school and start his own booking agency. There are absolutely no hard feelings towards one another. The band has also put up their new website (http://www.amitymusic.net/) with new features, as well and their new merch store.

Boy's final show
Boy Hits Car will be playing their final show Saturday, April 24th at The Whisky in Hollywood, CA.

To Hell with all your friends!
According to Adam at Skate and Surf, Taking Back Sunday's new album will be coming out on July 27th. Some of the new songs are called "The Union", "A Decade Under The Influence", "Set Phasers To Stun", "Bonus Mosh Pt. 2", and another song that didn't have a name mentioned.

Punk festival? In Washington?
The Cure has been confirmed as the headliner for this year's HFStival (99.1 WHFS - Washington, DC). Other bands playing as announced are Taking Back Sunday, Yellowcard, The Offspring, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, New Found Glory, Cypress Hill, Jay-Z, P.O.D, Papa Roach, O.A.R, Modest Mouse, and more.

Destination Europe
Sugarcult are to tour UK/Europe between the 13th and the 27th of June. Dates are still to be announced!

Not pop punk, but I like 'em!
Feeder have reassured fans that they won't have to wait much longer to hear new material. Singer Grant Nicholas has revealed that he has already written 14 songs for the new album, the follow-up to 2002's 'Comfort In Sound'.

"Everything's coming along nicely. I've written about 14 songs so far, and I'm aiming for 20 before we go into the studio. I'll then pick ten and that should be the record done and dusted. We're just chatting to possible producers at the moment before starting work on my demos," he told XFM.

Nicholas was also keen to reassure fans that there would be a Feeder release before too long, adding: "I'm hoping we'll get something out before the end of the year, be it the album itself or a single to precede it.

"The demos I've already recorded are sounding pretty good, so we'll probably use them as the foundation for the studio work, but we'll have to see how they progress. I wrote a fair amount of lyrics when I was on holiday on the beach, so you can expect lots of songs about water, waves and sand!" he revealed.

But it's not all good news - Nicholas said that apart from a recently confirmed show at London's Hammersmith Apollo as part of Carling Live 24, there are no concrete plans for any more Feeder shows this year.

"We've got no plans to play any other shows this year. Well, maybe one - but no festivals! Depending on how the rehearsals go, we may try and play one of the new songs at the Carling gig, but I want to hang on to most of our new tunes for the album," he said.

Unwritten Tour
A reliable source has suggested that Unwritten Law will not be joining The Offspring due to a dispute they had with their record label . News as it comes to me ...

This came after it was announced that Unwritten Law would be joining them in the Australian your in June.

A good source has said that the date range for The Offspring tour of Australia is roughly the 16th of June to the 26th Of June. No dates are firm as of yet. I will let you know when i know more!

Live Freaky Die Freaky!
So if you haven't heard about this film, it's a puppet film which is being made by Hellcat Records. The film features musicians such as Travis Barker, Davey Havok, Fat Mike, Billie Joe Armstrong and the whole of Rancid.

Now, they have announced that Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt will complete the Green Day lineup in the film, and they will replace Josh Freese and Twiggy as they are busy touring as A Perfect Circle. The last new addition is Tori from The Donnas. No news on who she will be playing yet.

Lars and his bastards!
According to the LFDF news above, Lars from Rancid has confirmed a new Lars Frederiksen And The Bastards record to be released.

I Am the Movielife  I'm not sure what that means.

Vinnie (formerly frontman of The Movielife) has a new project called I Am The Avalanche. I haven't heard any of the material or heard any more details, but since this is ap.net, we will keep you updated, I'm sure.

Decoy Music are hosting a demo of Vinnie (ex-Movielife)'s new band I Am The Avalance. You can download the track, called 'Demo2' by right clicking here (http://www.decoymusic.com/i_am_the_avalanche_demo_2.mp3).

An MP3 of the One Man Army song "Let's Call it an Evening" from the BYO Records split with Alkaline Trio can be found here (http://www.1manarmysf.com/audio/letscallitanevening.mp3).

Fugazi Live CDs

Pitchfork Media has announced that Dischord Records will be making live Fugazi records available on a burn-per-order basis. The prices will reportedly be at 8 or 10 dollars depending on whether 2 CDs are required.

Pitchfork cites a statement from the label with more info: "These are very much the original recordings without any attempt to correct for things like volume changes, strange mixing effects, or the occasionally out-of-tune guitar… Though the sound quality on these tapes does vary, if a show was too poorly recorded it didn't make the cut." Dischord's website did not have any visibly announcements at press time.

UPDATE: More info can be found at FugaziLiveSeries.com.

Vote The Matches!

The Matches' E Von Dahl Killed The Locals has been nominated for the "outstanding debut album" at this years California Music Awards. Go here (http://www.californiamusicawards.com/) to vote for them.

I voted. You should too, if you haven't heard the album I highly suggest you pick it up. There's a weird thing though, among the other nominees AFI's Sing the Sorrow is there. It's not a debut album...

Hot Rod Circuit's album

Hot Rod Circuit's new album will be titled Reality's Coming Through. It is scheduled for a July 20th release.

For those who weren't there...

High Roller Studios will soon be releasing a dvd of Skate And Surf 04'.

Punktastic compilation updates

We'll hopefully be able to announce the tracklisting for the Punktastic Recordings compilation CD, 'Un-Scene', later this week. We've sorted every song we want but we're just waiting for a couple more nods just to double-check everything is ok. There will be 16 new or unreleased tracks and the disc will be available (hopefully) in late July. A launch bash is in the works for August and there may also be a surprise or two as well up our sleeves...

Hear Adelphi and Socratic

I think I posted this but I don't think I posted their pureVOLUME sites. Adelphi and Socratic have now officially signed to Drive Thru Records. You can sample both bands by visiting www.purevolume.com/adelphi and www.purevolume.com/socratic

Hear Shadowboxer

San Francisco's Shadowboxer (http://www.thrill.to/shadowboxer) has two songs online. As previously reported the band consists of Zac Hunter (Nerve Agents, The Frisk), Greg McEntee and Kevin Wickersham (Swingin' Utters), Andrew Champion (Screw 32) and Ryan Blasquez (The Silent Film Stars).

I know you don't like them, but still...
Danielle Quisenberry of Central Michigan Life reports that Alecia Holst had no idea when she left for Detroit Friday night (April 16) to attend a Slipknot concert at Harpos Concert Theatre that it would be her last.

Holst did not return to Mount Pleasant. While at the concert, she went into sudden cardiac arrest, her heart failed and she was rushed to St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit where she died Tuesday night. She was 21.

Doctors are unsure what caused the arrest. Drugs or alcohol were not a factor. Her friends at CMU, the same friends she had at Thornapple Kellogg High School in Middleville, where she spent her young life, will remember her as the smiling, but stubborn girl who kept them grounded.

The States Aren't Alright

Finch studio diary update
24th April

We were invaded by aliens today! well just one actually his name was C-Gak and came from the planet RxBandit, he ingested a large amount beer and ripped it up on the drums! We had written a couple of songs that we thought he'd be perfect to play on, the songs needed sort of a turbo Stewart Copeland meets big slow old black sabbath sludge feel to them and he totally nailed it, neither song have titles as of yet but we call one "blackheart" and i think i heard Nate call the other one "mark it 8 dude". Other than that much didn't go on today me and Iggy finally got the whole studio diary thing figured out so I can post stuff whenever my heart desires, which I promise will be on a regular basis. Now to sort of address a question i think is probably on the mind of a few people. A couple of months ago the band decided to part ways with Pappas, and I know that most of have you know this and are more interested in why it happened! and I don't really know what to say other than we just progressed musically in different directions and things just didn't really work out, but Pappas is a great drummer and I'm sure he's gonna do great things in other bands. Actually last time I heard he was the touring drummer with JamesonParker, So yeah ummm..today was a pretty short day at the studio, we all bailed at about 7, and since tomorrow is a day off we're all going home, but we'll be back in the studio monday and i'll have more to write about then. So you all have a great weekend and take care.

They gon' Kut U Up foo'!
Below is a message from Chris Cote of Kut U Up regarding their new album:

Hi everybody,
I know, a mass email, pretty ****ty, but bear with us for a minute. We've been busy blah blah blah, anyway, we really appreciate all the support you all have given us over the past few months and years. It's great to hear from all of you in the UK and Australia. Hopefully, someday we'll be able to come over there and play some rock and roll for you good people, **** hopefully we'll be able to play anywhere outside of San Diego!
The big news is that we're finally going to record a new album! That's right, we're writing songs as we speak for a full length album set to be finished by the end of summer. We have two songs completed, "Make It out Alive" and "Fine Colombians". You're all gonna love both songs, trust us.
We'll try to keep updating the website and stuff so keep checking back. Remember, we love you long time and can't wait to see you all very soon.

Finch studio diary entry
We saw Pinback at the troubador tonight and they ruled!!! Seriously amazing, Rob Crow's voice is so amazing, and there simple use of computers and samples in there songs is ****ing brilliant...if anyone hasn't heard them i really suggest to pick up the cd "blue screen life", and if you like that you'll like one of his side projects called "Thingy" the record I have is called "to the innocent"...anyways....oh yeah we had another day of preproduction, we spent most of the time sitting around in a circle with our laptops trading music with instant messanger...we're such geeks! and bootleggers, Finch completely support downloading music, and hate Metallica for ruining the fun for everyone....alright so the songs of the day were "Bitemarks and Bloodstains" "INK", and "mushroom party"(working title) no real major changes just little things here and there, just to sort of spruce it up as Marc would put it, and other than that I've got nothing, today was pretty mellow...oh has anyone ever gotten the ****s from popcorn? well I did! I could barely get off the toilet for the earlier part of the day and it sucked...haha why am I writing this i'm such a dork. Goodnight everybody I hope everyone had a great day.

So heres more "breaking" news. This time its about the I Can Make A Mess Like Nobody's Business record. I'll get right to the point.

It's not coming out...kinda.
Ace decided to put it on indefinte hold to concentrate completely on The Early November. Unfortunetly the press ran for the record right before we made this decision which is why many people were wondering why it hasnt came out yet. Don't fear...many of the songs that were going to appear on the I Can Make A Mess... record will resurface as new Early November songs (plus way more super new stuff). We're all really excited.

Side note: we're stronger as a band now, than we've ever been.

Thanks for understanding,
- joe, ace, serg, jeff

excuse me, just going to go cry now... :upset:
