Shortly after the EP's completion,Kennedy exited (goingon to join Ashlee Simpson's band)to be replaced byChrisSorenson, and since McGrath hadbeen enlisted solely to play drums on the album,Saosinweren't solidified until that Julywiththe addition ofpermanent drummer Alex Rodriguez (also formerly ofOpen Hand).Come Close[CD/DVD] Even thoughTranslatinghad been out since March, the band didn'tmake its on-stage debut until June.Their powerfulliveperformance and heavy Internetpresence were coupledwith high praise for their EP (comparing them totheemotional catharsis ofGlassjaw), cultivatinganimpressive underground following. The guys hit the roadnationwide thatsummer with Boys Night Out andAnatomy ofa Ghost.Green parted ways with the band inFebruary 2004 for personalreasons, later going on tofront the emo/post-hardcore outfitCircaSurvive. Theother bandmembers pressed on without him,however,and though they had yet to find apermanentreplacement, stayed true totheir Warped Tour obligationwith Storyof the Year's Phil Sneed taking the mike. Bythesummer's end, Cove Reber had become the band'snewsinger. Saosin spenttime on winter's Taste of Chaos tourbefore hookingup with Capitol Records in March 2005.After numerouscompilationappearances, a self-titled EPof demos and live cuts appearedthat August; summerwas spent on co-headlining dates withAnberlin.Saosincontinued work on their eponymous full-lengthdebutwith Howard Benson, finally releasing the long-awaiteddisc in September 2006.Plenty of touringfollowed well into the nextyear, including dates withbands like Senses Fail,Bleeding Through, A Static Lullaby,and Poison theWell. In March 2008, SaosinreleasedCome Close, a live CD/DVD. The bandtouredrelenetlessly playing festivals and headline gigsthroughout2007 and 2008.Despite their touringschedule, theymanaged to record and complete InSearch of Solid Ground, their proper sophomore full-length effort, and release it inSeptember of 2009. « hide |
