NVMERI

Nvmeri is an eastern european trio culminating the ancient and the future. Their music is full of mathematical beats and catchy melodies inspired by Scandinavian indie pop, blending the unpredictability and magnificence of ‘70s pop music, spiced with rich noisy synth pads and classical orchestrations. Their visual presentation, parallelly attempts to combine antique with modern simplicity. Nothing else connects the eras of humanity as much as numbers. Like a bridge binding the past and the future, man and the universe, mystery and knowledge, and sounds and music. Nvmeri (Latin for numbers), is the name of the Eastern-European trio and is also an imaginary bridge between the ancient and the future. It often acts as a roller coaster between the two, but is definitely still founded on solid ground. It’s actually quite possible that their music will remind you of something personal. And in a few seconds that feeling will be gone, but it’ll still fit somehow. Kind of like when you get out of the house, and get that gut feeling that you forgot your keys at home - but seconds later feel them in your pocket. NVMERI are Pišta Kráľovič, Palo Javorník and Miro Tuchyňa. Seemingly shy boys, they grew up differently than their peers. While most other kids experienced regular teenage life, the boys improvised and made every effort to diversify the monotonous Christian hymns they had to play hundreds of times, and invented new euphoric interludes inducing mystical moods within the walls of the church. At 21, Pišta traveled from city to city with a personality crisis trying music with different people to finally rediscover something spectacular, yet honest, which was only possible to create with the people he played with since his childhood. He found his old friends Palo and Miro, in the Slovak capital. The fact that they grew up in the same environment is greatly reflected in their music today. Embracing comprehensive yet easily digestible arrangements, body-moving beats, sparkling synth pads, psychedelic solo trips or Pišta’s higher pitched voice suggest considerable inspiration drawn from past decades. But at the same time, a dense network of sounds - thoughtfully simple - easily leaks into the subconscious; as do the band’s visuals. Straight lines and a monochromatic color range. As the guys themselves explain: "One of the most powerful ideas that motivates us is people riding across country, someone sitting in public transportation or someone trying to forget the fucked up day in bed listening to our music which was written pretty much for own pleasure." Under the name of “The Uniques”, their first EP rapidly established their fan base. Their first LP release, From The Dust earned the award for Best Alternative Album of 2010, according to critics at Radio_Head Awards. The album put them into radio playlists and took them to the bigger stages of not only domestic festivals, such as “Pohoda” and “Grape”, but also abroad to showcase festivals like “Eurosonic Noorderslag” in the Netherlands, “Waves” in Vienna, and various clubs in Germany, the UK, Austria, and the Czech Republic. It also impressed Berlin’s “Pale Music” record label, which released the album in Germany in 2011. After the few years of The Uniques’ existence, the band unexpectedly changed the name and visual concept in March of 2013. The energy and mood, however, is preserved as evidenced by the first single, Hardwired. NVMERI released their 13-track album in the spring of 2013. « hide
