Jokke & Valentinerne is considered to be one of the "four big bands in Norwegian rock", together with deLillos, Raga Rockers and DumDum Boys. Thegroup originated in 1982 and released a total of five LP´s. Joachim Nielsen, better known as Jokke, was the frontman of Jokke & Valentinerne, and isconsidered to be one of the greatest songwriters of all time in Norway. By the mid-1990s, Jokke had developed a heroin addiction, and had several staysat rehabilitation clinics. By the turn of the millennium, many of his close friends believed that he had conquered his addiction. However, he died suddenlyof a drug overdose in October 2000, aged 36.
