After playing various shows at private and school parties and recording several demo tapes,IncubusreleasedtheirfirstalbumFungusAmongus in1995. The album had a hard rock sound with major elements of funk andjazz, whichdevelopedfurtherwiththeir followingalbum S.C.I.E.N.C.E. in1997. After the release of S.C.I.E.N.C.E.,Incubus replacedDJLyfe with DJ Chris Kilmoredue tocreativedifferences. The 1999 album MakeYourselfmarked a kindof breakthrough fortheband, as they got more and morepopular(mostlybecause of the song Drive, which had a lotofairplay).Building off thesuccess oftheir previous album, Incubus releasedMorningView in2001, an album that wasmuch mellower thantheirprevious releases. At the end of 2003, Incubus announced that bassist Dirk Lance had been replaced by former Roots guitaristBenKenney, whichultimatelyledtothecreation of their new sound. After a creative pause, they released A Crow Left OfTheMurder, whichsounded nothing likeanypreviousmaterialreleased. After doing their first world tour in2004,Incubusworked on various materialthroughout 2005. In 2006,Incubusreleasedtheir 5th studio albumLightGrenades, whichtook the band's sound to a differentapproach, yet again. Incubus supportedtheirlatest albumwith the liveDVDLookAlive, which featured many songs off LightGrenades and other recent works.Theirlateststudio album,IfNot Now,When?, released in2011, softened down the soundof Incubus that many fans missed.
