GOING STEADY was a Japanese punk band formed in 1996. They were known for their frantic, melodic style of punk that retained their aggressive hardcore influences while also emphasizing pop elements. GOING STEADY broke up in 2003 at the height of their popularity; all of their last three singles had reached the top 5 on the Oricon charts, a remarkable achievement for an indie band. Three of the four members of the band--Mineta, Abiko, and Murai--went on to form Ging Nang Boyz.
