Silky-voiced songbird who started out performing disco tracks before truly finding her voice with jazzy, late night torch ballads. The sadness found in
much of her music was autobiographical and the songstress tragically took her own life on June 30, 1995, just before a show at the Apollo Theater in
NYC.
